Jensen Ackles picspam. Because I can :-)
I watched the pilot of Still Life and I tremendously enjoyed it. And
marecagee, didn't you tell me they'd cancelled the show because it was too depressing? Dude! It's about family, love and survival. It's about hope. How can hope ever be depressing? This is beyond me, seriously. Now I'm going to crave a series that never really was and that is so sad *cries*
In case you don't know about that series - I'd never heard of it before tonight: Still Life is the story of the Morgan family, told through the eyes of oldest son Jake, who was murdered on his first day as a police officer. A year after his death, Jake watches his family with amusement, caring and longing. His mother, Charlotte, has been galvanized by tragedy to resume her dream of running for public office. His father, Ben, a police detective, must overcome the guilt he feels for his son's death. Younger brother Max is heavily conflicted, especially because Maggie, the woman he loves, was Jake's girlfriend. 19-year-old Emily is a haunting beauty whose life has been set adrift by the absence of her beloved brother. And Daisy is a precocious 16-year-old who may be trying to grow up too fast. Heart-breaking and life-affirming, joyful and dramatic, Still Life is a beautiful celebration of love, life and family.
Ha! "Beautiful celebration of love, life and family". Dude, isn't it exactly what I just said?
I downloaded the pilot because a) Jensen Ackles played in the series, b) I liked the premise of said series and c) Jensen Ackles played in it. No wait, that was my a. Oh whatever.
So indeed JA plays Max, the conflicted and hurt younger brother and wow, that man angsts so beautifully! He's a wonder. He's also too pretty for words, but that's another story. Speaking of the pretty, I had a very pleasant surprise when I watched aforementioned pilot. Inara! Inara plays in it! And she's as gorgeous as ever *happy sigh* I mean, okay, my love for Jensen Ackles is completely platonic due to my, you know, lesbianism but my love for Morena Baccarin? Is absolutely not platonic due to my - well, you get the picture.
And speaking of picture - admire the segue, guys! - I come bearing gifts of the picspam persuasion.
Ladies first. The beautiful Maggie:

Isn't she just gorgeous? *happy sigh*
Then the boys. Or boy, singular in our case, namely Max. I posted more pics of him because I'm nice like that :-)
If you read the synopsis, you'll understand why our Max doesn't look exactly happy. He has a lot of issues.

No, I mean it. Lots of them.
And here's a scene that made me melt. I loved that whole last scene, but that particular moment was really beautiful too.
Yes, Max has daddy!Issues. Well okay it's more complicated than that, but still. And when daddy!Morgan did this:

It truly made me feel all tingly inside cause Max was so hoping for some kind of gesture from his dad. Just something. And he got it. Lovely.
Also, that very first scene? The introductory one? Was done quite brilliantly, I thought *nods* Anyway, all that to say, I would have loved seeing more episodes.
PS: Inara wasn't the only surprise when I watched that episode as Martouf makes a cameo as well. I don't care about him as such, but it doesn't change the fact that he was there, right? Also, the mom played in Once & Again and I'm sure I've seen Emily somewhere...
PS2: OMG! It's 3.40 am in France which means - OH BOY - "The Journey Home" is airing in the US *dies*

Dean with a big grin? I'll have to investigate *g*

Eh. I watched Supernatural last night, kind of peeking around the edges of the laptop screen. I have real problems watching scary stuff - and since 99.9% of people who watch this would say "Scary? That's not scary!" you can see how low my tolerance is. (That's why I never even glanced at the show before; the title was enough to warn me off.) So, hiding behind the computer (and peeking at the TV without my glasses on) protected me a bit from the scary stuff, but also interferred with appreciating the Sam-and-Dean goodness. I may try another time or two, but I think I'll have to do all my Supernatural-appreciating through your fic. (Or tape, make myself wait till Saturday, and watch in daylight. That might work.)

So yes, SPN is freaky and if you have low tolerance to begin with it could be REAL SCARY, that's for sure. I'd advise you to try again in daylight, some people on my flist watches it that way ;-)

(thanks for investigating btw *g*)
