Numb3rs! 'tain, c'est pas trop tôt!

I knew it! So The 4400 is coming to an end here and I had the feeling that Numb3rs would replace it but I needed the new tv guide to check whether I was right or not - the official M6 site sucks and is never up to date - and turns out I was right!

French Posse, take note: 14 Avril = NUMB3RS, YAY! They'll air three episodes on that Friday and er, I'm hoping it's a one time thing, ie three episodes the first time to hook people and then two episodes each week cause it's not gonna last long otherwise! And seriously, I really dislike it when they air thee eps at once - I've been waiting forever to see the French version, let me savour it!

So anyway, that's not the point *cough* The point is... Numb3rs arrives in two weeks in France wheee! *goes down on knees* Please please choose voices I'll like for my guys! Make everything right and - *gasp* OMG I just thought of something! What if they pull a Stargate on us and have Larry and Charlie say 'vous' to each other or something? *is worried now*

But hee Numb3rs! On my telly *is verklempt* I'm all hyper now *bounces* I'm also hyper cause tonight is Prison Break and I can't wait til tomorrow to download it *bounces some more*

Oh hey yesterday was a beautiful Sunday - it did feel like we were really in Spring and Paris was so very crowded! Rissy and I had a nice, warm and relaxing time. A funny time too, cause in the midst of the classy shops we saw - makes some contrast from the ones we have in Choisy, let me tell you - we found ourselves in front of a Sex Shop, which was a nice surprise. In the end, I had to explain what anal beads and cock rings were and that cracked me up :-)

Oh bis, and we saw Francis Lalanne! lol I'm not even joking; il est sorti d'une voiture juste devant nous. Ca m'a éclatée parce que franchement, j'aurais préféré voir quelqu'un d'autre! Et au cas où quelqu'un se poserait la question? Il avait sa guitare et ses cuissardes *est morte de rire*

Then last night I did a little Life on Mars marathon and how is it possible to love those characters more each time I do that? But yeah, my love for Sam, Gene and Annie knows no bounds. Speaking of which, BBC 4 will show a LoM Behind the Scenes thingie on Sunday and I'm hoping someone will record and upload it on-line afterwards *fingers crossed*

Most of the time, I have to say they do choose voices I like, but it would be so much better if they aired more original versions!

I mean, like you said, it's a great opportunity to learn English - since 95% of the shows we get from abroad are American or British. But France doesn't seem to want that. We do have the original version of some shows, but it's almost never on the regular network, ie it's on the cable or Canal+, which is a pay-for-view thing. So yeah *sigh*

That sucks. It really sucks. *hugs*

Do you think that's something that will change? I mean is the younger generation more accepting towards movies and stuff in english? Cause it's just such an opportunty missed :(

I have no idea whether it's going to change anytime soon. I mean, we're improving as far as the whole 'learn foreign language' issue is concerned since now, kids won't have to wait til they're 11 to start studying their first foreign languages; more and more primary schools - as well as kindergartens - teach them so kids are getting used to it since an earlier age, but it's still not part of our everyday lives, like it could be if the shows that aired weren't dubbed... We'll see...

You'll get there eventually, I'm sure. The more people use the internet and such the more of the original language will come through :)

Hopefully someone will realise that you learn a language best when you're in daily contact with it, and not just at school! Learning English at school, kindergarten and stuff, is awesome but man having fun and learning the everyday lingo though tv? Is the best way to do that!
