Northern Exposure

I broadened my er, media horizon last night - as you do. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] anglepoiselamp who uploaded the first two episodes of Northern Exposure for me for her flist, I was finally able to see the series everyone was rambling about. I remember when I got into Numb3rs - it felt like you couldn't have one without the other mentioned at least once. Everyone was raving about it and about Joel and I was quite curious to see the infamous series - and okay, quite curious to see Rob Morrow in that role, I'll admit *g*

Well I saw ;-) My first thought was omg he's so young! I mean... not that he looks old now - far from it - but just - he really looks young in Northern Exposure. Or different, if you will. Joel? Isn't exactly Don.

So I come bearing a little visual aid because I know it's always more fun with pics. Guys? Well, those who don't already know him, obviously. Say hello to Dr. Joel Fleischman:

Admittedly, he isn't supposed to be Don - in particular since Joel was there long before Don Eppes was even a glimmer in his own creator's eye. But whatever - comparing is sometimes a nice hobby *cough*

And speaking of comparisons and differences and all... to all of you Don lovers, ie to all the lovers of the "tight jeans and rolled up sleeves" - I think that's one of the things you love so much, right? - well you'll notice that The Look... wasn't exactly there either. Case in point:

Ah the nineties... there's something special about them, isn't it? lol

Haven't watched the two episodes yet - only the beginning of the pilot but I liked what I saw already. Poor Joel *shakes head*

And two other pics - for all the nostalgic around here: that one because I like the way it looks:

And dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] turps33, the - infamous? - moose:

OMG! Northern Exposure!

Maggie, Ed, Joel, Chris, Maurice. The moose!

So many happy memories!

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 10:16 am (UTC)(link)
So you watched too? I don't think the show even aired in France - or it escaped my notice, could have happened...

Also, I just edited my post to include two new pics, with one dedicated to you ;-)
ext_1650: (You make me happy)

LOL. Thank you! The moose is something I always remember, I mean, it's just so....mooselike *g*

I did watch, watched every episode until Joel left and things changed too much for my taste. I had quite the crush on Ed at the time though Chris and or Joel do it more for me now.

Hmmmm, Joel/Chris, I wonder....

Gah, Joel not Joey. You know where my head went *g*

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I love Northern Exposure!!!! :D:D:D:D I was a regular groupie :) And then the tv did what the tv does best and messed with the schedule :( *sighs*

:)

This little ramble brought to you by Stimorol.. not available for purchase in sunny NQL, but it matters not, because I brought some stock back with me.
*checks supplies* er... depleting stock, but stock nonetheless ;)

Bwhahahaha! He looks like Seinfeld! And that's not a compliment. Also, personally, when I discovered Numb3rs and that Rob Morrow was in it, I didn't think Northern Exposure, I thought Quiz Show and Last Dance. I guess back then I was still more movie oriented than TV oriented. Not to mention that I never really liked Northern Exposure all that much, not my type of show. :-) You know me, Crimes or ghosts, not so much anything else, lol.

[identity profile] nilyveth.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 11:43 am (UTC)(link)
OMG he's like, SO young. How old was he at that time? I've never seen Northern Exposure, not even sure it ever aired over here...

Moose! That was such a fun little show!

[identity profile] naeara.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Moose! *loves* I used to watch that show. Good times. *G*

[identity profile] anglepoiselamp.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 05:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeee. The moose should have been mentioned by name in the credits!

And yay, I'm glad you're liking NE. ^____^

It is terribly 90's, but other than the inevitable fashion crimes, I was surprised at how little the show has aged. Or, dunno, maybe 'aged gracefully' would be the right phrase here.

Wow. I've heard about this too but, I wasn't too bothered to find out what it was about until just now (weirdly enough, it was the moose that did it for me). So now, while I was looking through stuff about it, it hit me - I've watched this! I only have vague memories of watching it with my mum when I was a kid, but I've definitely watched it and, as far as I can remember, I liked it. Which means I have to download and watch again for which I have no time but I'll still do it because I'm a hedonist like that. Oh, well... :)

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone seems to know that series but me! lol At least I got to see the first two episodes, that's something :-)

Also? You're insane lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Omg you're right, he does look like Seinfeld like this lol

So hey, did the series actually air in France? Cause I don't remember it at all.

You know me, Crimes or ghosts, not so much anything else, lol.

Yeah, kinda sounds like you lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I think he was something like twenty-eight maybe?

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Everyone keeps mentioning the moose lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Was the moose everyone's favourite "character" or what? lol

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously, everyone is obsessing over the moose, he should definitely have been credited lol

Thanks again for the upload ;-)

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
The moose apparently does it for everyone - go figure lol Though I loved seeming him slowly walk on the road, let's be honest.

Who cares about not having time? When a series calls, it's our duty to answer! *agrees*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-11 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
From the look of it, the moose remained in everyone's memory lol

And I read about Rob Morrow/Joel's departure and I can see why it wouldn't have been the same. I hate it when things change in a show - though I do make exceptions now and then *thinks of sg s9*

Hehehehe, Seinfeld and Rob Morrow, même combat!

And I don't know if it ever aired here, I only ever saw it when I was in England, so... dunno.

And :-D, I like me my criminals and my demons, what can I say?

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Seinfeld and Rob Morrow, même combat

*giggles* J'adore!

I have no idea whether it aired her, then. Though, if it did, how come I never heard of it? That's not natural *shakes head*

[identity profile] nilyveth.livejournal.com 2005-10-12 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa. He looks like 18.
