And not only is Kirith Kirin a stunningly beautiful novel...it also has to be one of the very few books were I am not aggravated by 1st POV which I usually do not like! :-)
One thing that kept blowing me away was the unique way of Grimsley at describing the ways of magic. I have read a lot of fantasy novels that included magic but don't think that I have seen such a portrayal before. The only other novels that fascinated me quite as much in the ways of magic are the Last Herald-Mage books by Mercedes Lackey, involving one of the most beautiful and tragic pairings ever: Vanyel Ashkevron and Tylendel Frelennye. I don't think I cried that much in any other novel!
