... et un pour tous !
Can you believe I didn't have the opportunity to watch The Musketeers till last night? Three whole days with the episode sitting on my HD, calling out to me, and me being unable to sit down and watch it. That's what I call mental torture!
I thought the finale was satisfying and happy-making; it had all the elements I enjoyed the most in The Musketeers; action, fun, angst, banter and camaraderie and utter love between the lads, the ladies being resourceful and efficient. What's not to love? ♥
I'm glad we found out about their plan (relatively) early on in the episode. When I saw the trailer last week I was hoping for the falling out to be fake and I was delighted to see they'd chosen to go that route again. Also relieved, let's be honest ;) And that group hug, you guys! Loved how easy and natural the gesture seemed for them. It was the sweetest thing, really ♥
The fake!funeral scene was absolutely delightful! Aramis and Porthos interrupting Tréville's eulogy made me laugh, I loved the delivery, and Porthos feeling all verklempt was a thing of beauty. The mere thought of losing one of his friends was enough to make him tear up! Oh, Porthos! ♥
And of course, of course, the gorgeous "un pour tous et tous pour un" moment. I promise I'm not being snobbish using the French phrase but it's just an instance where the line resonates so much more for me in French than it does in English. In any case, I loved that scene ♥
I love Constance dearly but I think my favourite female character might be Anne - or let's say they're both #1, it'll be less difficult. Threatening!Anne is a thing of beauty and that last scene with Aramis was quite something.
And the Cardinal knows! Clever bastard that he is. First the affair between Adèle and Aramis, now this, I feel like Richelieu could have (had) so much fun making life miserable for Aramis! Though... well, I'm not sure he would dare, what with Anne being on his case now :p Still, if only he shared his intel with whoever his successor ends up being! That way, I could still hope for Aramis to learn about Adèle's fate - no, I'm not bitter at all about this missed opportunity, why do you ask? ;)
About that ending, now. Basically, at the end of the day, the only thing those four have (in addition to honour) is one another, is that correct? That's what I heard, at any rate. And how sweet is that? ♥ They even rode to the sunset together! I mean, it can't get better than this! Just kidding, of course it can, that's what fic is for ;)
In conclusion: ♥
Completely unrelated. Know how you often find improbable things on the internets? I need to share BabyMetal, a Japanese girls band made of three (young) girls which is a mix between metal and jpop. In Scott's (from Pentatonix) words "it's like bubble gum meet the devil". Did you ever imagine a genre that could be described as kawai metal? Well, stop imagining it. It exists. I spent quite some time on their YT channel, going through the different performances - it is impressive seeing them on stage. What energy, wow! And I've downloaded some of their songs, they're catchy and Suzuka has a lovely voice. First song I listened to was Gimme Chocolate, which I think is a great way to introduce anyone to the band. Make sure you stay around at least for a minute or else you'll only get the metal part and neglect the kawai part ;)
So, anyway, Babymetal. That was my discovery of last night. Thank you, internet! (Or, thank you Finebros for making a YouTubers React to Babymetal).
