diversity is what makes life interesting

A problem with lot of people is how you'll express a different opinion than theirs and what they'll hear is an insult toward them and their own opinion. Why would they think that? Are they so unsure about what they believe that they can't just accept that a different opinion is just that, a different opinion and it doesn't mean it's an insult and it certainly doesn't mean it's meant to offend them either.

You'll say 'I prefer Jack/Daniel' and the morons will hear 'Your Jack/Sam ship is stupid and you're stupid yourself'. You'll say 'I like slash best' and they'll hear 'Het is boring and we all hate women to begin with'. There's no talking with those people, we apparently don't speak the same language and they keep translating it wrong *shrug*
