Lockdown - woohoo!

Just watched "Lockdown" and before I start, I have a question... how the hell do you survive all those break commercials? It's insane! I mean, thank God they are cut in the versions I have but seriously...how is it possible to have so many break commercials in an episode from a tv show? I know, you're used to it, and that's how it works, well it's just really different over here. Wanna know how many breaks we have in France when SG airs? One... We only have one break commercial for tv shows or movies - unless the movie lasts real long, then we have two, and we have none when it's cartoons, comics or sitcoms. And we still find a reason to whine because those commercials take over our telly. Mind you, we're French so whining and bitching is an art for us.

Anyway, back to more interesting things now - well, for me, I mean lol

Okay, I never got to read all the reviews that were posted on LJ since it was during the ever-so-tiring-and-bad week so I don't know whether people actually liked it or hated it, but I know that I, for one, definitely loved that episode, so there *g*

Sure the whole alien-entity-possesses-SG-personal is like old news, but frankly, it didn't bother me in the least. Maybe because it was Anubis, which was sort of a nice touch since I love the Big Bad Anubis, maybe because of the way it was dealt with, I don't know, all I know is that this old-news actually was pushed in the background for me to concentrate on other stuff.

So, what was on the foreground for me was the interaction between the members of SG-1... or should I say between the members of SG-1 and the General, and I enjoyed it to the fullest - they were great together! This is the team I'm fan of, if you know what I mean.

I laughed or cheered on several scenes, but my favourite? Has to be the Who Shot Me? scene because this one? So cracked me up! Daniel looked and more important sounded so indignant and whiny, he was too cute for words! And the looks Sam, Teal'c and Jack exchanged? Priceless - loved that scene *g*

It didn't hurt that said scene followed the scene in the gateroom with evil&possessed!Daniel being zatted by Teal'c first then shot by Jack... no, I don't have issues, I just like intense situations and somehow friends shooting each other definitely belongs to that category... also, loved how Teal'c was actually going to zat Daniel a second time which huh... would have been really bad, because my Daniel? I don't want to see him killed by Teal'c, thank you very much! So it musn't have been easy for Jack to shoot him, even if he knew he wasn't going to kill him per se, but there was no other choice.

Speaking of Jack... absolutely loved him in "Lockdown", which I find ironical considering not two days ago I was talking about how I usually feel indifferent toward this character because Jack's goofy act gets on my nerves and turns me off too much for me to ever become a fan of his [/blasphemous]

Well, the Jack in "Lockdown" is actually the kind of Jack that would make me change my mind, and serious!Jack is seriously one of my kinks. I say 'kink' because I don't get to see enough of that Jack and I regret it. I know how everyone loves witty and funny and goofy and irreverent Jack and I get that - I actually like it too don't get me wrong, but to a certain extent and I need for the goofiness to be balanced and usually, I don't get said balance. But in that episode, I got the Jack I craved so I was a happy camper... even if the beginning worried me a bit. I couldn't help thinking that goofy!General didn't exactly demand respect, but whatever, Jack showed his serious and efficient side, so yeah!

Actually, I was really a happy camper because I loved seeing everyone on the team, from Teal'c to Sam passing by Jack and Daniel - well, duh, being the Daniel fan that I am lol

Sam was great... sometimes I worry that I could forget how I originally enjoyed her character, but episodes like "Lockdown" reminds me that I do like her. Teal'c was his usual self - and something I liked? How he reassured Colonel Vaselov. That was really nice of him, in particular considering the welcome the poor guy received *cringe* The beginning of the episode when Teal'c is talking about his new home with Daniel and Sam was cute too - and it got better when Jack arrived - I laughed at the interaction between Jack and Daniel in that one. Oh and the other scene between those two in Jack's office? When Daniel talks about his plan and everything... I couldn't help thinking that he looked real comfortable in the office.

Speaking of my fave, I also got to see the Daniel I like - you know the diplomatic one, the one who's usually trying to make things better? It was really IC for him to go and find Col. Vaselov at the beginning of the episode and I liked that we saw him do that, indeed - like when he tried to show Jack that the Russian had their own reason to be demanding and everything. Besides, his little speech about how Vaselov shouldn't take it personally because Jack is an equal opportunity offender cracked me up. That's a nice description of the guy, all right. Jack is usually pretty disrespectful toward... anything or anyone, so why not this new Colonel who was bold enough to ask for SG-1? But hey, the poor guy didn't know, so it was nice of Daniel to fill him in *g*

I really liked the scenes between Alexi and Daniel as a matter of fact. I liked Vaselov's character very much to tell the truth - too bad he sacrificed this way at the end, but it was him or Jack, so I guess it was a given? lol Still, I liked that Jack was saved by him...

A last thing... this SG-1 will stay a three-person team thing? I don't know what to think of it. I mean, I always thought four wasn't a lot to start with but three? What are they going to do?

Sam : Teal'c, Daniel, we're going to make two teams; one team of two and one of huh one. No wait, let me think - let's try again, we'll make three teams of one. Yeah that's it, three teams of one. No, that's not safe, let's make one team of three then - yes, let's not separate, we'll do everything we need to do together. Go us!

I get that TPTB don't want to destroy SG-1 uniqueness, unity and whatnot but I just don't know lol

Anyway, all in all, I really liked this episode - I couldn't get enough of my beloved team *g*

You know, I'm an easy fan. I never really expect anything from a show, apart from being entertained - I don't expect anything more. When something doesn't go as I'd like to, I just shrug it off because well, c'est la vie, and it's not even that because it's not life but a show... well to me, anyway, I know we all have a different way of dealing with it and we all have our own vision of fandom. That being said, when everything goes well and I get to see my favourite characters act as I hoped they would, I can't help being a 120% happy and bouncy fangirl *g*

ETA: Doesn't have anything to do with SG but [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai? I bought S1 of Saiyuki today. Cheaper-than-cheap boxset was still at Virgin Megastore, so... it's now in my possession. Thanks again for sending me all those episodes the past week *kisses*

ETA2: Btw, forgot to ask. Didn't this Kearney guy already played in an SG episode? I could swear he played in "1969", you know, young!Hammond? And I know I could look it up on line but I'm sure someone on my flist knows that bit of info?
