Picspam: Paris - by night and by day.
If some of you remember the wedding I went to early July? Here are the pics I took from the barge sailing through Paris:
Random Sights Along The Seine
I took those ones because they're just gorgeous:

Oh and a sight you get to see a lot in Summer in Paris. People doing picnics on the side of la Seine:

On a funny note - well, I thought it was funny at least - the barge you see in the background? Is a fire station *g*
And la Samaritaine which is like an Institution here... and is going to disappear. It's still a mystery:

As for the colours? It was before we knew that London would win the Games. During the whole Olympic Game campaign, Paris was 'decorated' with the Olympic colours each night *g*
I'm quite disappointed because I missed the Cathédrale, so could only took a pic of it when it was a) far away, b) hidden and c) from behind. But well, it's better than nothing. I guess. And it'll give you an idea of some of the sights you can get when you're wandering around Paris, anyway *g*

La Conciergerie
This is the Conciergerie. To make a long story short, la Conciergerie was originally part of the palace built under the reign of Philippe IV. It became a prison during the Middle Ages and its busiest time might have been during the French Revolution when the Tribunal Révolutionnaire decided to make it their own. Marie-Antoinette and Robespierre - just to name a few - were imprisoned over there:

Les Invalides

Some Famous Parisian Bridges
Pont Alexandre III with a bit of the Tour Eiffel in the background, and if you think it's sparkling, you're right, it is *g*

Pont Alexandre III again:

Pont Neuf:

Pont Notre Dame - or passerelle Soférino... or something. OMG I suck at being French! But I'm a Choisyenne, not a Parisienne so er yeah, I still suck *sigh*:

And all right so I don't know the name of that bridge but I just liked the bit of Tour Eiffel in the background again, so there *g* Ladies and gentlemen, that's le Pont des Arts:

La Tour Eiffel
Two pictures of the Iron Lady. Illuminated and all.

And this banner was on the Tour Eiffel too - on one of the arcs - to celebrate Paris' candidature. We were motivated, weren't we? lol

Know what? I love my capital - nothing new, mind, but it bears repeating *g*

You know, I love your capital too, and I MISS it! And what do you mean La Samaritaine is going to disappear? Disappear to where?
*is shocked*
If I could just come up with a reason to move back to Paris. Or, you know, a job or something.
*stares at pictures longingly*

And la Samaritaine is going to close its doors. As unbelievable as it sounds, it'll happen soon. We're still trying to graps the concept, to be honest.

Re: picspam
Man, do you think they'll take away our French IDs? It would be a shame since I finally had mine renewed a couple months ago.
Re: picspam
nah, you just pimped Paris to your flist, they can't take it away now. As for me... well, I teach French and I eat a lot of cheese and I promote France (this week: the Loire valley *coughs*), so yeah, I'm pretty secure. the problem will be in the next All Blacks v. France game...

anyway, what I said was:
or imagine Daniel delivering your SG1 DVDs...no subject
the unnamed bridge is the Pont des Arts, just in front of the Louvres, yes? it's a nice one since it isn't open to traffic.

And yes, that's the pont des Arts, thanks *g*

This wedding must have been so cool...

This has nothing to do with anything, but know what? I'm thinking with all the flisters that actually live in Paris or the suburb - *waves hands* - we could do a Slash gathering as well. I mean, even if in the end we're just, like, five or six? It could be fun [/wishful thinking]
And the wedding was wonderful, yes *g* And where are the newlyweds right now? In Iceland, for their honeymoon. Classy, isn't it? lol

What about a pic nic ? Or we could go to Paris Plage... I've never been there yet, but definitely want to go this year, if only to just see what it looks like.
Another LJ friend,

And reading your comments, yes, I think a picture of where Duncan's barge would be would be a good thing *g*
