castalie | Brushes? No way!

I never thought I'd see the day. This morning, I played around with brushes! Yes. Me. Basic ones, but still, my icons aren't unidimensional anymore, they have layers! Well, you know what I mean.

So wait, I couldn't not share because, well, it's actually one hell of an accomplishment for me, thanks. Icon makers always impress me so much and this time? I did something cool with my bases, whee! Lookit, lookit!

Astonishing, isn't it? I think so too *rolls eyes* But still, I love those brushes. The Kato/Iwaki icons in particular are really classy - it was hell choosing one to use *g*

Anyway, on to the real subject of my post: Sci-fi Saturday - of the sg-1 persuasion.

But first, please allow me to start with a little something - VALA! Why did you have to leave omg! PLEASE COME BACK. Please! I miss you already *sob*

*pulls self together* I knew she had to leave since we weren't supposed to have her all season long but damn... I so enjoyed her character, I'm really going to miss her *sigh*

Now that that's out of the way.

Daniel's beard is gone! Though I usually dislike facial hair on my favourite characters, I have to say that Daniel's beard didn't disturb me at all - which was a surprise, really - but now that it's gone, I'm not regretting it because I still love smooth skin.

Basketball! They were playing basketball - the four of them! That scene was so fucking awesome, wow *hugs scene* And I just love the way they created their teams. Alien v Human. Shiny lol That was one hell of a good moment. I already liked the scene where Cameron and Teal'c played cards in "The Powers That Be" but it was different somehow - the Basketball scene was a thing of beauty, of true beauty.

So. Sam is back. And they still hate her hair. Sam's haircuts in that series truly are a Mystery to me. How come they're always giving her the worst haircuts? What did her hair ever do to the writers... to anyone? Why so much hate?

But anyway, the hair is beside the point. So she's back. And I actually was happy to see the team reunited - without Jack, granted, but that's not a problem for me at all, and anyway, season 8 trained us for that. So it was nice seeing The Trio back to working together once more. Even if they didn't exactly kick ass like we thought they would.

Btw, the black BDUs? Killed me dead. Each time they wear it, I have to concentrate a moment because, just - how sexy are they in that black uniform?! *thud*

Back to the Ori kicking our guys' asses. The Ori 6 - SGC 0. Actually, I do enjoy the failing thing. They'll really have to work to win the battle, and that way, it's keeping everyone - the viewers included - on their toes. Good job, Ori.

Though when I speak about Ori 6 - SGC 0, I'm talking about the episode up until the end, where finally the Ori saw their plan kinda destroyed. All thanks to Vala. THANK YOU VALA. I also quite enjoyed how it was Vala and not Sam who basically saved everyone. Nice touch.

Speaking of, poor Vala... dismissed by everyone now that Sam was back. I mean, I get that everyone was stressed and all, but that's supposedly the moment to listen to what everyone has to propose. You know, in case they end up having THE idea that will save, what, the galaxy? Yeah. That was kinda ridiculous how everyone kept forgetting about Vala and cutting her off each time she was trying to speak. I guess they needed her to be annoyed and leave on her own in order to do Her Stuff and Disappear, but still...

Which brings me back to OMG VALA WHY DID YOU LEAVE ME! It gave me the nice Daniel-collapses-again moment for which I'm always grateful, but still... Vala is not here anymore and that's just sad. Also, I didn't think the final scene was funny as such. I mean, they were all going for light and joke-y but Vala's fate isn't fun - hi, she's with the Ori? The guys who incidentally burnt her to death? Not just once but twice, yeah, that's so funny [/sarcasm] So I'm thinking... they were trying to alleviate their worries. That works much better. Also, Daniel wasn't feeling well and there was no need for upsetting him more, right? Right.

I'm really going to miss the Daniel-Vala antics. They were so fantastic together - so cute and fun and sexy *sigh* And those two? Seriously had no sense of personal space, did they? *loves* Always standing close, sitting close, touching each other, manhandling each other - hey, I loved when Daniel grabbed her hand right before she could ask any kind of questions to Landry. Or when they were getting on board of the Prometheus. And - well, I just adore all their scenes together, period. I'm going to miss you, Comic & Sexy Duo!

Oopps, almost forgot. Love me some Landry! I loved him right from the start, and the love is still there. He's ruthless when he wants to be, isn't he? You don't mess with him. And you don't mess with his people either! You go, General!

I have no idea. I'm checking regularly whether a French channel decided to be real smart and land the rights of the series, but so far, no result. I'm guessing you'll get it first, anyway... though we did have Lost before you did - which still is a Mystery to me, too - so who knows? *is curious*

Whee!! Can't wait to see the episode, but VALA!! Don't go!! You have to continue being Daniel's foil, sort of like Sam was (in a way) Jack's foil. Only mouthier. And innuendo-y. And, prettier in black leather.

I was so sad! Why couldn't Vala stay, why! I mean, it's not as if having three male leading characters was a bad thing, so why not two female ones? I miss you so much already, Vala!

Ooh shiny brushes. Yay you! I'm very impressed with icon makers too because my skills are seriously lacking.

It's funny to me that most of the stuff being said about Sam is about her hair.

I also love that the team isn't winning all the time but I admit to being really excited that the Ori lost this time. It's nice to feel like our guys are at least getting somewhere, you know?

But mostly, I'm going to miss Vala. So, SO much. I don't see why they can't just add her as a regular. Here's hoping for Season 10. ;)

I was actually pretty surprised to realise how easy the brush thing was lol I always imagined it was something So Very Complex. Though I still don't know how to do all those cool effects Icon Makers always do. I'm happy with my new skill though :-)

I think the fandom has Issues with Sam's hair - then again, who can blame us when you see the kind of material we're "working" with? I don't think I ever saw a character who had worse hair than her character. I really don't know why they always have to mess with that part of her body *blink*

It was nice to finally see the Ori losing a round - I mean, them losing so badly is a nice twist, but a little victory now and then is kinda nice too lol

As for the second half of your post I am going to hold off on reading the SG-1 spoilery stuff because I just now watched "Ties That Bind" and "Origin" so I'm a bit behind but I too am sad to hear of Vala's departure I so LOVE that woman! I think they should get rid of Sam and keep Vala. There's just something about her that I LOVE!

And now I must apologize for not keeping in better contact. I left RL nearly take over my Interet surfing and thus have not been good at responding to people though I am working on that. I'm sorry! I shall try to do much better in the future

I LOVED Vala and Daniel's interactions and I'm going to MISS Vala. THAT'S what I was talking about. Sam's suddenly back and Vala gets dismissed and they're all looking at SAM to solve the problem.

OMG. I want a Daniel/Vala icon. :P

I'm trying to brace myself for the next episode sans Vala but man... it'll be tough! I loved the Vala-Daniel dynamic a lot too and I just enjoyed her character tremendously so now, well, something will be missing *sobs*
