#1 yeeees! I love that! The poker scene was the cutest thing ever - actually, Charlie explaining maths to Terry with the help of a flower might have been cuter *g*
#2 This was my only [major] gripe with the episode - I guessed the "whodunnit" from his very first scene, not necessarily through logic, call it intuition or wild guess or just TV experience, but I knew it was going to be him.
1 - he was obviously of foreign origins, but not from the basic American melting pot. Some time ago the movies were full of Hispanic and black perpetrators; it's a good thing this became obsolete, but they were replaced by East-European ones. I notice these things, given my sensitivity for the area *g* Don't ask me names, because the movies and TV copshows I watched* all melted into a big mush in my mind and only the conclusions remained.
2 - He was not as obviously suspect as the guy from Vector (the one who was a false lead), but there were the small things - he complained about the "teacher's salary" but he had some hi-tech gimmicks I was drooling at, some acting clues.
*I know I said I don't like cop shows; I watched a lot of random cop show episodes and movies with my mother in my time, because it was fun to watch them with her; we often played the "guess whodunnit exclusively by acting/directing cliches." I used to win :D
Thus endeth my mini-foreigner-rant :D
#3 pained me a little too :/ I don't want them to overplay on Charlie's awesomeness, because he already is awesome. I don't want this to ruin the science and the plausibility of the show.
#4 Me too. His guilt and self-doubt and dread that no matter how hard they try, sometimes innocents end up in jail, this is RL angst and comes with the job and he's so human about it.
Some intrepid people at TWoP have made a bit of work on the age difference, let me dig it up in the forums.
