Pendant ce temps, sur la passerelle

Well well, first the pope, now le Prince Rainier, the French media must be jubilant.

Yeah, anyway.

Hey! Did I tell you that I succumbed to BitTorrent? Well I did tell some people on the flist but that's it. So eek! I succumbed to BitTorrent and I'm now in the Torrents club, yay! I christened the thing with a Cold Case download. I miss that show so much - I couldn't resist. Lily was as beautiful and classy as ever, I'm completely smitten with that woman. I prefer her French voice to her real one, though, but it's okay, it's just a minor complaint *g* Also, I apparently chose a good episode since it was full of Scotty's angst. Anyway, I was ecstatic *g* Even more ecstatic actually that the download started at, like, 1 day remaining and ended up lasting only three hours - wow, that was beautiful to watch. I mean, if I stared at the transfer history all the time, which huh, I never do *cough*

The evening was a great CD telly night since I also finally sat down to watch the pilot of Desperate Housewives and OMG! Totally got hooked too. Dark humour at its finest and so corrosive it's a wonder you don't get burnt while watching. It's so smart, you know? The kind of brilliant show that just stands out. I love it. My favourite character now... well, that's a tough one. So far, #1 is Susan but she's closely followed with Bree because... because it's Bree and she's something, all right. Then again, I'm really intrigued by Mary Alice... also, on a very shallow note, even if I weren't interested in the storyline, I would still watch that show because OMG the pretty! Those women are all so very gorgeous, all in a different way. The candy eyes, it hurts! But in a good way *purrs* Then I had the surprise of seeing Mr Lyle. Eeek Mr Lyle is in DH too. I'd totally forgot about that. Nice surprise. And I was all ohh he's a nice and sweet guy this time and then he came home after the fire and had this conversation on the phone and ohhh he had a gun, too, and I realised that well okay, there was more to him than met the eye *is curious about him* Should be interesting.

I've heard that Canal+ will air Desperate Housewives in September. You can always trust C+ to get the best series. It's really a shame they didn't land the rights to Lost because I don't trust TF1 *sigh* Oh well, we'll see...

I also finally succeeded in watching Numb3rs 1x08. [livejournal.com profile] enigel? I'm not sure I'll be able to do more than some squeeing either:

Charlie! Don! Don-Charlie! Eppes Family! Poker scene! Larry! Schrödinger's cat!

But I can try, so:

#1- Those domestic scenes at the Eppes household will be the death of me. They're the best thing ever, I swear. Each time I see the characters gathered together in that house, be it the Eppes family or the Eppes Buddies, it makes me all tingly inside.

#2- They play with us, don't they? I mean, at first I thought okay it seems a tad too easy so I decided that Mark Andric was actually the murderer. Not even really out of deduction, but just like that, in passing and because I needed someone else - I needed a name and I picked that one. Then the episode runs and you're hit over the head with the idea that people are unconsciously influenced by the way questions are asked or by the way things are presented to you and I don't know how many times they used the word 'assumption' but it was all over the place and that's when I knew it had to be Mark. Because if we got to suspect WhatsHisName it was because of the very first witness we saw and he sorta gave the tone and that first witness was Mark... so we were all being influenced by his being pictured as just a witness willing to help the police and pointing out to a suspect... he had to be the determining factor. Come to think of it, they weren't subtle at all.

#3- Fingerprint Technician Girl had the patience of a saint. So the woman has been a fingerprint expert for, what, eight years and we're supposed to think she wouldn't have been able to think of Charlie's little trick in the first place. I mean... I love Charlie being so uber smart that he thinks ahead of everyone else and thinks so far out of the box that he wouldn't even recognise said box if it fell on his head, but I had a problem with that scene somehow *shrug* I mean, I get it, it was another demonstration of how we need to look at something from a different angle since the object itself might have been displayed under a different view, and that was the whole point of our story, but still... you really can't blame the woman for being suspicious and unreceptive.

#3b- I did like how Don and Terry walked back in the room though, when they realised Charlie was still thinking the problem through and was apparently going to question everything, ie with some luck maybe give them a new approach. I really love how they trust Charlie implicitly *g*

#4- Really felt bad for Don during the whole thing and enjoyed the last scene immensely. Felt all relieved on his behalf *happy sigh*

Btw, do we know the age difference between the brothers?

On a different note, I got so used to get my new Lost on Thursday morning that I feel all, well, lost without it right now. And of course, the torrent file is dead. I don't mind the wait though, it'll make watching it so much better.

don't forget Charles and Camilla's wedding!

they didn't even talk about Rainier here, i didn't know about it at all ...

tout ce que j'en sais, c'est par les Guignols ... et le pauvre Albert, ils sont pas sympas avec lui hein ...

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-07 11:25 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah, forgot about that one. Though to my defense I was more thinking on the line of Important Dead People, you know *g*

Les Guignols, c'est clair qu'ils sont pas franchement sympas avec lui. Le pauvre.

#1 yeeees! I love that! The poker scene was the cutest thing ever - actually, Charlie explaining maths to Terry with the help of a flower might have been cuter *g*

#2 This was my only [major] gripe with the episode - I guessed the "whodunnit" from his very first scene, not necessarily through logic, call it intuition or wild guess or just TV experience, but I knew it was going to be him.

1 - he was obviously of foreign origins, but not from the basic American melting pot. Some time ago the movies were full of Hispanic and black perpetrators; it's a good thing this became obsolete, but they were replaced by East-European ones. I notice these things, given my sensitivity for the area *g* Don't ask me names, because the movies and TV copshows I watched* all melted into a big mush in my mind and only the conclusions remained.

2 - He was not as obviously suspect as the guy from Vector (the one who was a false lead), but there were the small things - he complained about the "teacher's salary" but he had some hi-tech gimmicks I was drooling at, some acting clues.

*I know I said I don't like cop shows; I watched a lot of random cop show episodes and movies with my mother in my time, because it was fun to watch them with her; we often played the "guess whodunnit exclusively by acting/directing cliches." I used to win :D

Thus endeth my mini-foreigner-rant :D

#3 pained me a little too :/ I don't want them to overplay on Charlie's awesomeness, because he already is awesome. I don't want this to ruin the science and the plausibility of the show.

#4 Me too. His guilt and self-doubt and dread that no matter how hard they try, sometimes innocents end up in jail, this is RL angst and comes with the job and he's so human about it.

Some intrepid people at TWoP have made a bit of work on the age difference, let me dig it up in the forums.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-07 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Charlie explaining math to Terry with the flower was indeed very high on the cute-o-meter. Even the poker scene couldn't beat that.

They really weren't subtle at all. Sometimes it feels they dumb their audience down. It would be disappointing if I considered Numb3rs as a 150% cop show, as it is I can overlook the thing because the cop thing is nice, but I really put in the background, so yeah. But still...

And I know what you mean about Easter European being now used as bad guys more and more. It seems it seems to be the tendency du moment.

#3- I wasn't the only one, then. I was wondering whether I wasn't being a bit unfair, but... no, I wasn't. And you're so right, Charlie already is awesome, no need to push the thing.

What's TWoP? And thanks *g*

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-07 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
*casually* btw, did I tell you the great news? You might want to sit down for that one...

even when Linus is back I won't be able to DL anything because we have limited internet access - not in time, but in quantity (1G per month)... Plus, my flatmate frowns on DLing stuff off the internet (and there's a whole campaign right now in NZ about denounciation and all). So yeah! adieux Lost, Numbers, Naruto... :(

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
What the hell do they care if you download episodes that aren't even released on DVDs anyway? What's the difference between that and taping them? Once the DVDs will be there, I know I'll buy them, and I would buy less DVDs if I couldn't download all those shows first. Sorry but I just don't like it when people influence someone on something they don't like. Nobody forces them to download stuff, that should be enough. I prefer the quantity explanation, it's more logical. Well, I'll have to burn them on CDs for you then. But you'll have to wait cause I'll have to fill said CDs a bit before sending them. As for Lost the season finale isn't far away so... but I'll provide you with the stuff. Unless it's frowned upon so much that you really don't want to proceed anyway?

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
I know... but either way it doesn't matter - our internet connection doesn't allow us to do that (we have to pay extra... I can hardly wait to see the bill for February *cringes* I had no idea they could do that to DSL!)

I'm living in a foreign country and they *can* kick me out. So yeah, maybe I'm a little paranoid after the USA... Of course I don't like it! having to stop downloading? hell... I'll DL stuff from work (which I did for Survivaure for instance).

You'd do that? burn the CDs I mean? You're so sweet! As for the frowning... what she doesn't know won't hurt lol And all my stuff is safely hidden in my bedroom - the first episodes of Numb3rs, some Naruto, many Scrubs episodes... I'm not giving *that* away! *clings tightly*

Oh, and I can DL songs and stuff from work, so that's good *g*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't know they could do that with DSL either until [livejournal.com profile] greedy_dancer got the same problem. Remember how she sometimes had to wait like a month or something before being able to download Lost anything again? It was because of the dead bandwith. Talk about tragedy.

And are you kidding? Of course, I would! If there's someone I would do it for, it'd be you *kisses*

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-08 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
If there's someone I would do it for, it'd be you *kisses*

*beams* thanks honey! It's very sweet of you - I take it Clark is able to burn some CDs again? wonderful... *bright shiny hopeful eyes*

you do realise that I've met someone who's stricter than I am? *shakes head in disbelief* okay, I'm not that strict, I'm just slow on the uptake, but still!

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 11:52 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, it's normal, man *schnuzzles*

Also Clark certainly is able to burn CDs again. He's been burning CDs for people on my flist non-stop in the past two weeks. It's only fair you finally benefit from it too *g* I'll burn several things for you then. I already have a CD ready. I'll send everything on Monday, hopefully.

It definitely floored me. I mean, yeah, that was hard to take *snicker* Though like you said, you usually change your mind so it's different, I just have to be patient and wait until you see the light *eg*

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Thaaaaanks!!!

hey, I don't change my mind about *everything*!... do I? *ponders*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-11 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
hey, I don't change my mind about *everything*!... do

No? I mean, no? Dammit. I mean *concentrates* No. But you do it about a lot of things.

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-11 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! actually when I wrote that comment I was trying to think about something I didn't change my mind about - man, it's so hard! I couldn't find anything! Je suppose que la pub Flamby de notre jeunesse m'a plus influence que je le croyais *giggles*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-11 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG I just found a new nickname for you, honey! Flamby Girl *pouffe de rire*

Thing is, you shouldn't always put your foot down so hard on anything all the time, cause if you didn't, I we wouldn't even notice when you do change your mind. Then again, it wouldn't be half fun for me, of course, because I wouldn't be able to start my little countdown in my head each time you decide to be strict on something *eg*

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-12 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Adopte! *rotfl* Flamby Girl *giggles*

oh come on, we both know you love it when I put my foot down then change my mind - it would break the dynamic of our relationship if I didn't do that! It would be like Daniel not touching something he's not supposed to touch! Impossible *giggles*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-12 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I would totally miss it and I do love it when you do that, it's indeed one of those things that are part of our relationship so eeek, don't change that but I'm not so not worried here anyway And btw? Best.reference.ever *bows*

[identity profile] babycakesin.livejournal.com 2005-04-12 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
The odds of me changing that part of my personality are really bad actually. It would be like you giving up internet. So there - nothing to be afraid of *giggles*

*bows* thank you - I like it when I can make references to shows you like *beams*

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2005-04-12 11:44 am (UTC)(link)
