Of sunny day and meme.

Today was such a gorgeous day! It filled me with glee because I woke up feeling just fine so I could do my errands and as soon as I set a foot inside the house again, I put some shorts and planted myself in my little garden for a long sunbath: book + sun? Is heaven. Also I put some sunblock on - as white people go I'm pretty white so it's a must - and I've been smelling like summer and beach and vacation, hee I love that smell! *sniffs self again*
Unrelated now. I was over at
turps33's lj the other day and I played with the Letter meme. She gave me the letter 's' and I finally found the time to write my responses so here they are.
1. Slut
Because dirty talk is love. I absolutely adore when one lover is talking dirty to the other; and I usually like it best when my fave is the recipient of said dirty talk. Jim telling Blair he's a slut while Blair is sucking him off in the truck really talks to me. Sam saying it to Dean when he's busy fucking him slowly on the hood the Impala resonates quite well too. Dirty talk just works, period.
2. Smart
Intelligence is usually an important reason why I'll love a character. I usually go for the smart/smarter ones. Book smart works really well but street smart does too. Dean might not be university educated but he's smart so he's in. I could never love Jayne from Firefly because he's just dumb. No offense to anyone who loves him - or maybe it's something you like about him - I know there are many reasons why the character is interesting but, as far as I'm concerned, he's just big and dumb and it leaves me completely cold.
3. Sandburg, Blair.
Which is so not the case of Blair! Big and dumb, I mean lol Oh I love that character; he's so passionate and lovable. He's smart and sweet and loyal and feisty and resourceful and I love the way he sees lots of things. He can be like a pitbull when he's after something - read Jim and his sentinel abilities - but it just makes him endearing and dude, that's Blair Sandburg for you. He doesn't let Jim intimidate him and he doesn't take his shit, which is quite commendable when you know Jim Take No Shit From Anyone Ellison. He's like the bestlover partner for the big guy and maybe the best friend he ever had: I don't know many people who would be able to do the same sacrifice Blair did. As painful as that scene was to see, it still is one of my favourite scene on tv because god, it was such a proof of love, you know? And that's the kind of things Blair just does.
4. Sentinel, the
TS is a show that has so many flaws but which is, like, transcended by its characters. It's the show that takes the sub out of subtext and hands its viewers the gay on a silver plate. It's a show I love and it's a fandom I adore. As much as I enjoy my other fandoms, my other pairings, I don't think any of them can beat TS. For the longest time I wondered about SG but even Jack/Daniel has to come behind Jim/Blair - though they'd be real close, but still, Jim/Blair is #1. I have so much love for that pairing that words fail me, you know? The Sentinel gives me pretty much everything I love in a pairing, what's not to love?
5. Slavery
That one popped up when I was trying to find my words. It's a genre I love. Slave!fic is often crack!fic material, I'll be the first to admit it but, even when it's pure crack, it gets my motor running like whoa. So when it is written well? Oh boy, it's heaven! Also, I love slave!fic in its different incarnations; ie Master/slave fantasy - including 24/7 which is just too good for words - or slave!fic as non fantasy fics when one character has been enslaved by another; AU setting or not. It can also be hardcore or more subtle. I'm easy, see?
6. Sibling
I'm not even talking about cest - though I'll talk about it in a minute, granted. I love characters who happen to be siblings because it always gives a certain intensity to the relationship from the get go. They'll have a special connection, they'll have a history. Sometimes they have issues which are even more delicious because family issues are personal, intimate, deeply painful. And I love incest - in F.I.C.T.I.O.N. thanks - because it's quite often really fucked up and it brings angst to a whole new level and then it's just plain hot. Dirtywrong tastes really good, what can I say?
7. Smut
Like I always say, I don't need smut in a fic I'm reading to enjoy it, it's never mandatory, but when it does happen, it's always a joy to read because it can be so many things: sexy, sensual, hot, rough, painful, tender, sweet, loving, fucked up, dirty, wrong, angsty, slow, hard, kinky, vanilla etc etc... it's like an embarrassment of riches.
8. SM
I just love bdsm stories. Hardcore or not, here again I'm easy. I love how intense it can be and how scorching hot. It also speaks of perfect trust between two - or more - characters and that's always something that is compelling to read.
9. Supernatural
Dude, you didn't really think I was going to forget that one, right? Ah Supernatural: I started downloading you because I wanted something new to watch and you became that Huge Thing I can't do without. I remember liking the pilot but I never imagined I would obsess over the show like I do. One of those pleasant surprises that sometimes happen with a show. My first impression on SPN?
14 September 2005: Watched Supernatural yesterday and was pleasantly surprised as it was pretty cool.
Positive review but quite far away from the OMGSUPERNATURALOWNSMYSOUL reviews that came later :-)
Why I love Supernatural - which btw, is SPN, not SN, it hurts me each time someones writes it wrong. SN is Sports Night, NOT Supernatural, kthxbai. It all started because of the pretty - and okay it still is - but then it just became something more... It's all about Dean and John and Sam - yes, it's about Sam too, even when I bitch about him, Itolerate like the guy, it's just that sometimes I can't stand him, is all - and their love for one another, fucked up love sometimes but love all the same. It's about family issues and it's about want and need and pain and it's about life and duty and revenge and did I mention family issues? Yeah. I've been told that some people watched SPN for the plot, which in turn taught me that SPN had plots, but I'm in SPN for the family arc. And sure, for the pretty - let's say i'm into SPN for the pretty family arc.
10. Slash
And then, of course, we have S for Slash :-) Why do I love slash? I've talked about my love for slash a lot of times so I'll do short but I love it because it gives me the More I crave when I love a show - when an episode or a series is over, I just have to log on and I have more. It opens a world of possibilities where I can enjoy my favourite characters in new stories over and over again and in such a way that it makes their relationship So Much More. Then there's the hot factor that is just the icing on the cake. But it's not the smut per se, it's the love itself - like both characters started on one level in canon and then went one level further in fanon. I love seeing them stretch the boundaries of their original relationship into something more, romantic and/or sexual. This is why I love slash, cause I'm greedy and I always want mooooore.
If you want to play too? Comment on this entry and I'll give you a letter. Then you'll write ten words beginning with that letter, including an explanation as to what the word means to you and why. Ten or less, who cares about rules?
And now, off to download Prison Break 1x20. How many episodes are left, btw? God, they're going to stop airing SPN, Numb3rs and PB all at the same time, aren't they? That'll kill me for sure!
