Paris Pride 2006
Jun. 24th, 2006 11:27 pmI had a brilliant time today, people! Just brilliant. That's one more participation in Pride, yay!
The day started with teh usual brunch at Starbucks Opéra with
moimoietmoi and
greedy_dancer, which is always a favourite moment of mine :-) Then SAM abandoned us and GD and I left for Montparnasse where the Parisian Pride had its starting point. Since I knew
catiadoodle was also there, I had the crazy idea of texting her to see whether we could find each other. I say 'crazy idea' because if you've participated in Pride at least once - or any gathering of a gazillion people - you'll know how unlikely it is to actually find the person you're looking for. But lo, we did find each other. I win at text message and meeting at Pride! And yeah okay it wasn't easy even with the Wonder That is Technology, ie Mobile. I actually tried to call her at one point and the end of convo had me going "SEND ME A TEXT MESSAGE AND TELL ME WHERE YOU ARE OKAY? I SAID TEXT MESSAGE!" but whatever.
So we chatted for a bit and it was really nice seeing her again; it's been a while since our last meeting. We didn't stay together though as Catia and her friends wanted to be part of the Pride audience whereas GD and I wanted to be Pridego-go dancers participants. So we waited for The Right Float - one with good music and, if possible, without any politician ties, thanks - and we said goodbye to Catia to follow it, which we did til the very end, ie when we reached Bastille. Dude, three hours of dancing and jumping and singing and walking and running in a warm and hot weather - when we finally reached the end, we were ready to collapse lol
And hey, this is actually my second Pride with
greedy_dancer - how cool is that? :-)
There was a RadioFG concert held at Bastille but we didn't stay - a) I had to be in Choisy at 7.00 pm for a dinner with one of the women I'll work with in September and b) did I mention we were dead on our feet? And a bit deaf too. So we just had a drink in a café and then went our separate ways.
Dude, going to Pride? Is... it's powerful. I don't know. There're no words for how much I love being part of it *is giddy at even the thought of it*
I'm now back from my dinner - it went well, btw - and I'm obviously cruising lj. Quiet night to end a pretty exciting and hectic day :-) Tomorrow I'm going at Sandrine's to spend the day with her and Lucas. So it's gonna be awesome too *is impatient*
Before going -
moimoietmoi? If you haven't found it already, here is the link I told you about this morning.
