Today being bank holiday - you should all move to France for the month of May, we have bank holidays all the bloody time during that period - I decided to celebrate it by a) not opening a single competitive exam book and b) going with The Cous to the cinema to see X-Men 3. We actually tried last night but man it was packed so we couldn't, but today was a success, yay!

Also note that I know nothing of the comics and it'll certainly shows... I only know some stuff because I've been told by friends who used to read them but I don't know what happens in the comics or anything, all right?

DUDE! They killed Charles! And Jean. And Cyke, but okay I didn't care that much, but - Charles! And they stole Magneto's powers... except THANK GOD we got the very last shot of him when he's making the chess piece sway with his mind and we find out that he didn't completely lose them, after all.

And okay, see, on the one hand, it was a sort of cope out, in a way - it would have had a bigger impact maybe if, on that last scene, Eric did move the piece with his finger because he was now a regular homo sapiens, but on the other hand, I love that character so much that I just couldn't bear the thought of him losing all his powers. And we'd already lost Charles - and then Cyke and Jean - I couldn't lose someone else! Even if Eric wasn't dead per se.

Though when I say I love Magneto? His behaviour towards Mystique when she becomes 'human' seriously sucked. I was like 'no you can't do that to her!' But at least he's true to himself, if not to others...

That film had to be like a walk in the park for a lot of the cast members:
1. Cyke only appeared, like, five minutes? And it's not as if he had a lot of lines.
2. Charles died after around... ten minutes, maybe? Though he had a bit more lines.
3. We saw Warren, like, four times, twenty seconds each - kid!Warren broke my heart though, and I loved when older!Warren went through the window and flew away.
4. As for Jean, she had to look otherwordly throughout the entire film so she didn't speak that much either.
5. Rogue was pretty much non-existent...

Also, I was waiting for a Big Confrontation between good!mutants and bad!mutants... instead I got six little mutants against an army? And, of course, the six little guys succeeded. I know, I just suspended my belief and enjoyed the show but just - sometimes I wish they didn't pull the six guys against a hundred of guys because it's just lame.

Also bis, if you have tattoos and if you like chains, you can't be on the X-Men's side, sorry *rolls eyes*

Anyway, I did enjoy the movie, it's just that sometimes you just want to roll your eyes, you know?

Wolverine rocked - as usual. Beast was awesome too. Storm kicked-ass - I love how she never gives up and how the takes the reins after Charles died. I have MUCHO LOVE for Magneto - Sir Ian McKellen is just too good for words. I felt bad for Mystique because I loved that character too.

I also love when we got to see Charles and Eric in the past; how they showed us their friendship, and felt all tingly inside when Magneto told Pyro off for bad mouthing late Charles. Magneto was so respectful... that's a great relationship here; those two characters really are interesting, even more when we take them together.

As for the action, it was quick-paced, there's never a dull moment and it's just fun all around.

Something else I love about the X-Men films is how - among other things - you can read it as a metaphor for homosexuality all the time. And the third one had a lot of those elements as well. It wasn't done on purpose, was it?

[ETA: If you go see the film, stay until the end of the credits, there's something there. We couldn't so we missed it and it's very sad but, since we're going a second time on Monday, we'll remedy that.]

Completely unrelated now - I don't know if everyone has seen them by now but I've just discovered those pics this morning and they're worth being shared a million times anyway.

Jared and Jensen looking hot - in other words, Jared and Jensenb being themselves. And actually, those pics are especially gorgeous because I'm usually sorta indifferent to Jared Padalecki's good looks - he's not my type per se - but I thought he was incredibly hot in those pics. And like I was saying this morning, it has to be the hair; it looks very good here.

The decor is beautiful and somehow makes the guys look even hotter. Or maybe it's just Jared and Jensen looking even HOTTER than usual, everything is possible with those two *nods*

See? I posted a pic of Jared first... Which does mean a lot coming from me.

And another... but he does look really hot, seriously.

But maybe not as hot as in that pic - I don't know, it's my favourite...

And because I could NOT forget Jensen, I'll finish with him ;-)
