C'est bientôt la rentrée !
Aug. 24th, 2018 06:38 pmI was almost afraid of checking the date of my late entry and, indeed, it was as bad as I feared! May. Ouch. Do I even try to sum up the last couple of months? Maybe if I try in a very condensed way. Let's see... I went to Strasbourg (France) and Brussels (Belgium) for work before packing for my Yearly Sisterly European Weekend at the end of July. This time we headed to Slovenia for four days (we stayed in Ljubljana and went to Bled and Piran for a day each time). If you ever have the opportunity, I highly recommend going to Slovenia; it's a charming and beautiful country, Ljubljana is really affordable compared to other capitals and we only met lovely people. It was really chill and the weather was absolutely gorgeous (then again, with the heatwave we had in France all of July/August, we weren't lacking in that department). After Slovenia, I spent three whole weeks in Normandie with the family where we divided our time between visiting the area (Arromanches, Caen, Bayeux, Luc-sur-Mer, Lisieux) and chilling at the beach or playing around with the kids, reading and playing cards etc.
We got back on Tuesday and kept busy as Cookie and I brought our oldest nephew to Eurodisney - it was a bday gift for him but we absolutely love spending a day there so it was no hardship on our parts ;) - and then today it was the Game of Thrones exhibit tour in Paris, again with family. We had a great time, the exhibit is pretty interesting and quite gorgeous. I never tire of seeing real costumes and props from a show I love. Tomorrow we're thinking of going to the cinema, chilling on Sunday and then it's back to the grind for me next week. All good things come to an end, as they say.
Obviously I'm not complaining: four weeks off work is such a luxury! Besides, I have pretty exciting plans for the upcoming months. I go back to Normandie for a weekend mid-september for the Cider and Dragons festival, I have an FP weekend in Tours planned for Hobbit Day, I'm heading to the Netherlands for work in October followed with at trip to London in November. Then Cookie and I booked tickets to see a production of The Nutcracker at the end of December, which I'm so excited about! I've been wanting to go see it for years and years and never got around to it until now. Later on, I'm hoping to go see Panic at the Disco in Paris with part of the FP, although the tickets aren't available yet so fingers crossed we can get some! Then, much later on in the year, my sister and I are planning on going to Croatia for our traditional weekend together and Cookie and I are planning a trip to Scotland next August.
What else. I'll be starting my 4th year of Italian class (enrollment is this week, as it happens. Memo to self: enroll asap!) and need to study for my driving licence (which I know is necessary and will give me/us freedom but I wish I could have a driver at my disposal and never have to drive myself! Hopefully I'll change my mind once I actually start the driving lessons. Although, first things first, I need to study for and take the theory test).
So, see, many awesome plans are already in motion :) And that's just the plans I have as of now.
Tv wise (and real quick because I'm afraid I've rambled too much already) I'm behind, as usual, which is a pity because we're fast approaching the season when new shows will premiere (Manifest, New Amsterdam, I'm looking at you - btw, couldn't they find another title? That one was already taken!) and I would have loved to be up-to-date before starting anything else. I'm still not over the whole Lethal Weapon mess, btw, and feel so sad that I can't rejoice over the new season coming up!
I think I'll stop now before I digress even more... kisses to everyone passing by!
