SG 9x07 "Ex Deus Machina"

Alright. I came down from yesterday high. A tiny bit *giggles* But I did come down enough to focus on Important Matters, namely the latest sg episode, which I just watched. [livejournal.com profile] french_hobbit? The men in skirts will be for tonight, after all ;-)

"Ex Deus Machina"

  • That episode? Was pure sg-1 to me - old skool if you will. And though I've enjoyed the dynamic and pace of the new season, it felt good coming back to that kind of dynamic and pace, if you know what I mean. One could argue that it wasn't 100% sg-1 in the sense that it was a pretty much Earth-based storyline but really, I thought it was anyway. Besides, though we were mostly on Earth, we still had space brought to us there. There were goa'uld and jaffa and ships landing on buildings. Seeing all those jaffa going from one cubicle to another? In their armours and everything was a tad... surreal. While at the same time looking quite real in the sense that so far, the fight against all the Big Villains pretty much all happened in space, on other planets - or here but in other time - and seeing those guys shooting and destroying things in such a common place was weird.

  • Teal'c had lines! Lots of them. He had quite a lot of scenes too. And he smirked. A lot. I missed that. I know I already said it, but I'll say it again, I feel really bad for him. After everything he went through to free his people, he's finding himself fighting against them and is estranged from the group. That has to hurt. Talk about irony.

  • Garak is freaky. The guy is turning against everyone, isn't he? He's scary because he's not scared of anything or anyone and he'll obviously go to whatever end to assure the independence of the jaffa nation - and assure his place at the top, of course. As if the sgc didn't have enough on their plate, as it is. From one point of view, you can understand how they don't want to risk losing the freedom they gained after so much suffering, but on the other, well, they're turning into the same guys they were fighting against - that's sad to see.

  • I miss Vala. I really do *sigh* Having said that, I liked how the team worked - even though I'd love for more Cameron-Daniel interaction *wants*

  • Speaking of which, how much did I enjoy the Sg-1 Patch scene? This much! Did you see how Cameron distributed the patches - did you? He's offering it to Sam as if asking for her approval "So, do you want to be back or not?", then with Teal'c it's more of a Formal Thing, like "Will you do us the honour of fighting at our sides again for good and join sg-1 once more?" - cue to Teal'c so classy and noble little bow. But with Daniel? Cameron doesn't ask - he doesn't need his permission obviously as he just takes the old patch off and slaps the sg-1 on and the deal is done. No question asked. It's clear Daniel is Cameron sg-1's property. That little moment cracked me up! Like did Daniel's smile at Cameron's action afterwards *g*

  • Also loved seeing Landry in the background, looking at the scene. That was a nice touch *g*

  • Also on the shallow side - more shallow, that is - Daniel in the black BDUs is a thing of beauty - so he didn't wear them this time, but it's true - but Daniel in civilian clothes? Is wow! That man is so pretty... I mean, it's old news, but at the same time? Hi, it won't ever get old! Sam did show some cleavage though it was pretty tame cleavage... Sam never really takes my breath away though Amanda Tapping does, she kinda has me drool each time she appears, but that's neither here nor there.

  • And just because I can, the Patch scene - with caps and all:

"Since you obviously keep forgetting who you belong to, I'm going to put a reminder on your delectable body."

"I'm quite proud of what it says, too: 'Property of Cameron Mitchell. Please bring back if lost. Thanks.' Just tell Jack he can give me a call if he wants to discuss your new position, alright?"

Oh and this has nothing to do with the rest, but [livejournal.com profile] french_hobbit? I burnt the two first episodes of Numb3rs, I'll send them this week *g*
enigel: Aziraphale shielding Crawly under his wing ([SG-1] [Daniel] still the prettiest)

Oh, but I was laughing like a loon! Thinking Ba'al is a Very Cool Villain and laughing at the absurdity/surrealism/OTT-ism of the last scenes* are not incongruent :>

And yeah, apparently I'm far from being the only perv to see the Ba'al-cest. Yay!

    * But I understand why certain fans might feel disappointed by the direction to comedy it seems to take lately.

By the way, the Cameron/Daniel conversation inspired this:
    mine!
which I dedicate to you if you accept it :D

So I'm not the only one who thought the scene was funny? I adore my flist, there's always someone else to share my view *g*

Ohhhhh the icon is awesome! And you're dedicating it to me? Dude! Of course I accept it, thanks *g*

Hey wait, by "dedicating" did you mean "I'm giving it to you, too"? Cause wow, I just stole your icon and everything! Just let me know.
