Just watched the first episode of Heroes. DUDE! ♥ ♥
Okay first a little backstory; I heard about Heroes in Kati's lj. I checked out the summary and going through the storyline and reading about the characters I was like 'okay this is a mix between The 4400 and X-Men with a bit of Lost thrown in the midst - bored now!' But there was a trailer and because this is me we're talking about I couldn't resist watching it.
In the brief moment of time that it took me to watch it I'd completely changed my mind. Yes, saying I'm easy is actually an insult to all the easy people out there. But seriously that trailer? Totally did it for me. So I was ready to wait til september when the show would premiere, right? Except the internets being what it is... turns out I didn't have to wait that long.
So! That premiere rocked! Man, that's what I'd call a show premiere, all right. And I have the feeling it's gonna be another series where I'm going to enjoy pretty much all the characters - I foresee a lot of squeeing. Well, if the rest of the series is anything like the pilot, that is :-) Speaking of the characters, can anyone guess who's my favourite among the male characters? Come on, try. I guarantee you there won't be any surprise if you'd seen the episode lol
Peter! Peter is my fave. And look! Two new siblings in the neighbourhood! With issues but also a lot of love and oh man, if they keep that up, I'm going to have yet a new family to add to my Favouritest Family list!
But I thought all the characters were really wonderfully introduced - what I mean is, usually when there's a bunch of characters and we need to follow each of them I sometimes get bored with at least one or two and I just want the scene to be over so that we can go back to my favourite kthxbai! But it didn't happen here and I loved that.
Loved how we entered their lives and what is better yet is that their powers were already there and kicking for most of them - no slow introduction to show the slow discovery of their talents. Here everything was quick paced and it was like no one was getting a break. They weren't losing any time... I really enjoyed the rhythm.
Oh and I squeed at the very last scene, heee such a lovely little twist! The moment when we realise that it never was Peter who was meant to fly but his brother and Nathan saves him... dude, I might have squeed a little lol
It also made me smile because there was this moment at the precinct during the convo between Peter and his mom and he's talking about how he always had a connection with Nathan and I thought 'no wait, is he going to have the flying power or the mental power?' but I forgot about it afterwards because I was so sure that he was speaking about him when he mentioned the dreams and, of course, when we saw Isaac's painting... so I really thought it was nothing important, that little line, right? And turns out he was channeling his brother! And then Peter jumped off the building and he was falling and falling and Nathan flew and saved him omg! I just adored that scene...
Like I adored a lot of other scenes. And the rest of the characters, like I said.
Hiro is so very endearing! He's so cute and he's a geek and he wants to be special and have a different life and he's the cutest thing ever!
Claire was awesome too and I just love how that little cheerleader is the one with the regenerating power. It kinda kicks ass, you know? Though maybe not as much as Niki's own power, though that one is definitely freaky - hi violent Alter Ego Girl!
I quite liked Isaac and his paintings though the whole cutting his hand off? I could have done without - though I liked the whole... well, saying 'gore' might be a bit too strong but it was still a bit gore, anyway, what with Isaac and Claire and Niki and the blood and mutilation, you know? They didn't try to sugarcoat it, it was nice *g* In a bloody way, I'll admit, but still.
Me, I always had a preference for mental powers as opposed to physical powers, but they're all interesting to see anyway.
I also thought Mohin was really interesting - motivated, dedicated and super smart, what's not to love?
Oh and yeah, the Bad Guy has been introduced... and look at that, he's Claire adopted father! Should be interesting too. Hopefully :-)
Also, apparently there are more characters that still need to be introduced? Come to think of it, I hope it won't become 'too much', you know? *fingers crossed*
But yeah, I tremendously enjoyed that first episode. So hey, if you're curious? You can a) check out the trailer at the official site and if you like what you see then b) look for the torrent? And you'll find many familiar faces too - I know I did :-)
Since it's too hot to sleep atm I think I'll - actually I'll take yet another shower and then I'll watch Heroes again and then I'll start with Eureka. Tonight is New Series Night *g*
PS: Hey Kaja, I did say I'd let you know if I liked it, didn't I? lol
