Okay so here the post I originally meant to write.
Fact #1 : Last night --> It was a blast *g* The pub was full as usual, and since we were eleven, we had the bigger booth- still, we were pretty overcrowded. I love that pub, but I would love it even more if it was tad bigger- but I suppose it gives an intimate feel to the whole thing, it's part of its charm *g* We were greeted personally by the owner since we go there on a regular basis and really get on well with him. We always preen a bit, like Yeah, we know the owner- ah! lol
Then the game started and I won two lollipops plus a shot- which was alcohol so I gave it to someone else. I felt like Hermione I swear- you know when she's in class and desperately raises her hand because she knows the answer? That was me lol The thing is, we can't shout when we know the answer so we have to raise our hands and you should see us- but man, we're playing for lollipops so it's serious matter, right? Right *nods* Sandrine and the others are always putting pressure on me because the count on me to win them candies. So far, I didn't let them down- pfew lol
Anyway like I said, it was a blast, I love going there *g*
Fact #2 --> Finally got the two Christmas pics I've been waiting for, well since December *g* I'm turning my LJ into my very own pic album, but hey, Christmas pics, guys!
So I present
My Christmas tree
and
my Christmas fireplace
.
I can't help it, I'm a Christmas junkie *unrepentant look*
Fact #3 --> BP2. I wrote a wee bit more today, but when I finally typed everything down I realized that between yesterday and today it was only 2.000 words. Thought it was more *shrug*
So to encourage my muses and uh, myself- my little BP2 icon.
--> 20 pages.
I know writing between 8 and 10 pages in a day is possible, I did it once or twice, but that's so not my usual MO- I take my time... and I take my time, that's how it works for me. Too bad sometimes, 'cause I wouldn't mind being one of those writers who write long fics in a few days *sigh*

Date: 2004-04-23 11:06 am (UTC)But yay for BP2! It must be wonderful to write so much every day. I tend to be able to do about 5 at best, and even then it's not often. But still, you have progress and that's fantastic. As well as a great icon.

Date: 2004-04-24 05:01 am (UTC)I'm addicted to Christmas, I can't help it. Everything around Christmas is game for me. We even work for my father duing that time, every weekend and every Wednesday- under the big tops for Christmas shows for kids. Crazy crazy time lol
Ten Christmas seasons at Toys R Us? That's crazy all right. I worked one Christmas season at Disney Stores, Champs Elysées and it was insaaaaaaaaaaaaane lol But we never got bored, and I loved working in the basement with the mountains of boxes and toys that were always threatening to fall on our heads and kill us lol At least, in the basement I was far away from the crazy customers *shudder* Being the cashier was always a punishment for me lol
Don't be so hard on yourself...
Date: 2004-04-24 08:00 am (UTC)We all write/work in different way. I feel lucky to produce 1 page per hour over the long haul. Even the time I wrote a complete fic from start to finish in one long go -- I started at 4 PM, finished it about 1 AM, stopping only to feed animals (they insisted) and for potty breaks. Didn't even eat -- didn't want to stop typing. And it was -- yep -- 7 pages long. So, if I write 5 pages in a whole weekend, I'm pleased, because that's all the time I can spare.
I wouldn't mind being one of those writers who write long fics in a few days *sigh*
Yeah, but they have the time. Arianna, for instance, is retired, and often has insomnia that keeps her awake. So she can do 25 or more pages in a day.
We do what we can, and eventually it'll all come out in the wash. Don't kick yourself for being human.

Re: Don't be so hard on yourself...
Date: 2004-04-26 05:48 am (UTC)One of my biggest "faults" at writing fic is measuring myself against other authors. I produce very short stories (7 - 12 pages is my normal length) about "the friendship thing" with lots of dialogue, not much description, and even less action. I keep thinking I "should" write action stories, I "should" use more description, I "should" be able to create a crime for them to solve, I "should" write much longer stories, I should, I should, I should...
Well, as my mom always told me when I was a child, "You're not everybody else." (Following the complaints that "Everybody *else* gets to...") Trying to measure ourselves against everybody else will drive us crazy. Either we'll quit writing because we're "not good enough", or the frustration of trying to be what we're not, and do what we can't, will kill our muses.
So, we can make a pact together, to celebrate our muses, be grateful for what we *can* do (given our own talents and RL concerns), and simply try to improve over our last story. We don't need to measure against "other people".
Ahem! Do I sound enough like your mother yet? *g* Well, that's the pep talk I give myself, when needed, and Arianna gives me when I don't listen to myself. So, live long and prosper, and don't worry about it!
P.S. You're welcome.
Re: Don't be so hard on yourself...
Date: 2004-04-26 06:03 am (UTC)I'm really satisfied with the stories I write, and how I write them (apart from the time it takes me to do so, granted lol). I know a lot of writers over here who always doubt their work, who keep on comparing themselves to other authors, and who always think they're not worthy or whatever- well thank God, I'm not one of them *g* I think it must be pretty tiresome to always feel this way.
I never thought I wasn't good enough. Do I think my stories are perfect? Of course not, far from it. Do I think I reached the peak of my writing skill? Hell no. I'm looking for improvement, because stagnating isn't that stimulating lol But I really enjoy my stories.
I always say that should my story be disliked by aynone else, I'll still be my number on fan lol And I never think my stories will be hated by everyone else either. I know that my fics will meet an audience, and I also accept that some people will dislike, hate or feel indifferent about them. I always say it's all a matter of taste and personal opinion. If someone hates a story of mine, it doesn't mean said story sucks, it means it didn't meet this reader's own expectations, desires, kinks whatever *g* I don't like every fic written, I don't like every writer out there, after all *g*
This said, I'll follow you and will celebrate what I can do, ie what I can write, no matter how long I write or how long it takes me to finish a story *nods*
*makes Vulcan sign* Live long and prosper yourself *g*
