Work is being such an ass today. It was already cranky yesterday but today is even worse. It's even more frustrating that I'm this close to solve the bloody problem except it just doesn't want to cooperate and it's apparently determined to drive me a bit insane *smites*

And the flist isn't cooperating either since everything is about the latest drama. No porn of any kind, sadly.

I have to say that, as a whole, I usually don't trust Fandom as far as wanks go. I mean, you know how much I love, nay, how much I adore Fandom, but it's not exactly known for being reasonable nor is it known for its level-headness. Or, at least, that's how I see it. Not to say everyone will agree.

So I usually just wait for the drama to be over and for everyone to go back to the important things, namely write fics and speak about shows and, why, yes I do have my priorities right, why? ;-) Except that this time it seems the drama was actually justified?

Well, not to the extremes I've seen some people go - though, hey, everyone is entitled to it, just because I might not agree doesn't mean I think people are wrong in how they react to things - but I've read some of the latest news/articles that were linked on the flist, as opposed to just spread rumours, and I can't say I liked what I read here, I'll admit. I don't know, I'm waiting to see where the whole thing is going - if it's going somewhere - and hoping some of the things I read aren't going to become a trend on LJ...

But, see, I couldn't be upset over the whole thing because with fandom it's a bit like the boy who cried wolf; wanks and mass panic ensue so often for no reason that I never know whether I'm supposed to look at things with a closer look on not. And also, I guess I usually don't take certain things as seriously as some people do. So, again, I'll just wait and see how things go...

Still, I'll be impatiently waiting for the porn calm to come back.

And on other news; I finally have my very own SPN s1 box-set! It was released yesterday and I went there with my fake!bdayvoucher but very real money and treated myself with the thing. It's shiny and pretty and it's all spn all the time and it has extras and it filled me with glee :-)

ETA: I've always been curious as to how many fandom oriented journals there could be on LJ and, thanks to fandom_counts, we can now start to have an idea. As of this minute we're at 24061 24126 24127 24166 and counting. greedy_dancer, I can sorta understand your obsession with the refresh thing now lol It's pretty neat seeing the figure rise with each new click!

Non, franchement, je suis 100% d'accord avec toi.

LJ a fait une grosse, grosse connerie, mais je ne vois pas du tout l'intérêt de répondre à leur post d'excuses avec des dizaines et des dizaines de pages de "On vous fera plus jamais confiance! Je ne renouvellerai pas mon abonnement payant!" Et puis tout le monde veut tout savoir en détail, pourquoi ils ont osés parler 5 minutes à un journaliste avant de faire un post sur LJ. Pourquoi aujourd'hui, pourquoi leur nouvelle policy, et blablabla...

Pas plus que je ne comprends les gens qui ont f-locké leur LJ parce qu'il y avait du slash, alors que depuis le début LJ Abuse a répondu par email (et les emails ont été publiés un peu partout) qu'ils visaient la promotion d'activités illégales dans les profils et intérêts. Ca n'a aucun sens pour moi que tout le monde se soit mis en vrille comme ça.

Sérieusement, je vois encore un post qui dit "OMG THEY ARE GOING AFTER SLASH NEXT" et je me baffe. Je vois pas du tout, mais alors pas du tout, le rapport entre le slash (et le porn) et les mots "child abuse, rape, etc..."
Les fandoms sont vraiment très susceptibles, et ils ont tendance à se faire peur eux-mêmes avec leur conjonctions apocalyptiques.

Surtout que, honnêtement, si LJ, hypothétiquement, en venait à ne pas accepter le slash, je ne vois pas l'intérêt de f-locker son LJ pour rester dans une communauté qui officiellement te crache dessus. Ou ils acceptent ce que j'aime, ou je leur épargnerais même la peine de fermer mon LJ en le faisant moi-même.

Sérieux. Pis du coup j'ai plus aucun plaisir à lire ma F-list, c'est que du drama -_-

I'm completely disgusted at how LJ/6Apart handled things, but my love for fandom is stronger then ever. We all came together and the reaction and ideas and contingency plans are just awesome. Fandom kicks ass. ♥

I do agree, where is the porn? although, well, sometime a reminder is useful. my whole day yesterday was consumed by wank, i guess it shows just how little i had to do in RL .. lol

ANYWAY. how are the extras on the boxset? worth buying? or should we buy an american or british version or something?

I have to admit, my flist reading has got faster because I'm skimming so much now. Mistake were made, things were handled badly, but in the end I know things will keep on going and this will become a memory. An unpleasant one sure, but still.

Fandom won't go away, and as shallow as it is, that's mainly what I use LJ for. Bring on the fic and the porn. That is all.
