I watched Addams' Family Values last night and omg! Baby!Charlie! Well, baby!DK. I'd seen pictures of him in the film before, but it was the first time I watched it and awww! And he looked younger than his age, too. It's really weird - though a lot of fun - to think of Charlie and Larry in N3 after seeing them in Addams' Family Values.
Nothing new under the sun here. I was speaking with a Random Stranger Guy yesterday who was saying he was going to enjoy being unemployed but, like I told him, I can't wait to find a new job myself because I've been officially off work for less than a month and I'm already feeling bored with that endless-weekend thing. It's not cabin fever because I'm rarely at home and when I am, it's because I wanted to, but still! Taking a decision you felt was good for you is one thing; accepting the consequences is another story *pout*
Oh, well.
Onto funnier things, now. I'm still writing my TS fic, which fills me with glee. Who knows when I'll be writing something new, right? Hmm? No, no, I promise I'm an optimistic IRL :-)
And speaking of writing, here's a little meme about writing. Even when you write, you can still talk about writing? Gacked from
turps33.
1. Ideas. Where the hell do they come from? Can you make those little fuckers show up?
I have no idea where the idea come from. They just show up sometimes. Usually it's a particular scene that pops up and I either start from here or try to reach that scene. Sometimes it's not a scene so much as an idea - my Night 'verse started like this, I knew what theme I wanted but I had no particular scene at first. Same thing with Our Darkest Sky Wide Open, I knew I wanted Dean's soul to be locked up in his amulet and I ran with the idea.
Other times the fic will start from a particular line, like the TS fic I'm writing. I had resolution #2 in my mind, so I wrote the story that went with it and then the fic that went around it. Well, I'm still writing it but that's how that one is working.
I recently realised that I was kinda missing the time when I tossed ideas with someone... it is fun and stimulating. I'm also sure it could help when I'm in an impasse - sometimes you just need another point of view.
2. Wild horse-bunnies. When a story just gets pulled right out of you. Do you get them?
You'd better believe it! Sometimes a story just wants to be written and it's like you're not really writing it, just, I don't know, typing it down, if it makes sense? Like the story writes itself and you're just here to lend it your fingers. Or something.
3. Writer's block. Have you been scourged?
Oh my God, have I ever! I'm pretty sure if you look at writer's block in the dictionary, you'll see my face right behind it! I can do months without writing a single line. Sometimes no story comes to me and sometimes the story is there... but I just can't write it. I'm told time and time again that even when that happens I should just write something, anything, but so far I can't make it work that way. If I don't have the slightest feeling for the story, forcing it out won't work at all.
4. Clean up duty. Do you like editing?
If we're talking about the whole grammar thing, I love editing! Because it means my story will be readable :-) I always await
starwatcher307's beta impatiently because I know she'll help make my fic better.
Now, of course, there's the other editing, the one that makes you change parts you wrote, and that one isn't that fun... especially as in my mind, the story is finished when I sent it to my beta, so doing some rewrites demands a little more focus than I wanted. It's like, I don't know, finishing a race and thinking you'll be able to rest and discovering you still need to keep going a little.
But it's always worth it, of course. And part of the game :-)
5. The ending. Is it hard for you to find the ending?
Not really. Either I know where I want to go from the beginning or the ending appears as I'm writing so it's never something I have to 'find' as such. The Very Last Line, now, is another matter. I usually take some time with it because I like to have a last line that really counts. I don't want it to look as if I was tired and just wanted to reach 'The End', I want it to really mean something and, ideally, to make the whole story stronger with it.
6. The title. Where do you get yours? Do you have yours when you start the story?
Dude, titles are a nightmare! I swear sometimes it feels like it takes me longer to find a title than to write the damn fic! Most of the time, now, I use either a quote (usually part of a quote, not all of it) or lyrics. I like those titles much better than the one I painstainkingly found before. Also, I developped a thing for long-ish titles, and quotes or lyrics are perfect in that reguard.
Of course, sometimes the title was there almost at the same time as the first scene or the idea - 4 AM Knows All my Secret was like that.
7. Plot. If you plot out your stories first, raise your hand.
So not raising my hand. I don't plot my stories. And they're usually too short for any real plotting, really. Which, mind you, could also be the reason why I don't write long fics, but that's another story.
8. POV. How do you choose your POV for a scene? For a story?
Now that you ask... I don't 'choose' my POV. I start the story and the POV is already there. I never think about it. And I stick to one POV for the whole story. Well, okay, except when I switch POV without my noticing but that's usually because I wasn't really focusing enough so I correct the mistake as soon as I'm told.
9. Challenge. Do you like them? Do they inspire you?
Oh boy. I'm a challenge phobic! Too much pressure; the deadline, the idea that you have to finish the story. Dude, the idea that you have to start the story... I just don't like them. I did participate in a couple but no, I don't like challenges.
10. Sex. Do you like writing sex?
That would be a big N.O. No, I don't like writing sex. It's always so tedious! I always say the same thing but it's true. I always have to brace myself before starting one because writing a sex scene is a bit of chore for me. Not the idea of the sex itself... but the writing. There're just too many things to take into account.
I mean, I usually enjoy the result of my sex scenes, don't get me wrong, but I wish I could just paste them from my mind to the screen, is all. It would be so much easier :-)
PS: I watched Friday's Night Live on Wednesday and it made me cry! That's not a good sign when a show makes me cry. It means I'm becoming attached to the damn thing, argh!

Dude, titles are a nightmare!
I'm sorry but it never fails to make me smile, because I know how hard it is - and I think some people should definitely spend more time working on titles (honestly, "Attack of the Clones"? Worst.Title.Ever. I'm still not over it).

People who can plot and plan and write in sections astound me, because it all sounds so complicated. All I want to do is just sit and write. Which means starting at the beginning and just letting those words free.
Also. GUH! New journal! So awesome.

I should try the whole plot thing once. Just to see what's the fuss about lol

Yes, new journal! You like it? Awesome!

That's so sweet of you to say, and I really appreciate it. But honestly, yeah, I fix up some words and sentences, but basically I'm just adding the paint and the curtains -- I couldn't make it 'better' if the solid framework weren't already there. We make a good team, but you're still the driving force.

Dude! ♥ ♥
I hear you, then. So let's say that we do make a great team :-)
