castalieLondon D-2 \o/ Tonight, we've started planning the trip and I managed not to add "AND FIND A KRISPY KREME SHOP" every time we picked a destination \o/ It was a relaxed evening, with Pushing Daisies season 2 in the background - told you I was in a marathon mood these days.
Before that, we watched the latest White Collar (2x11) which filled me with glee, I loved it! I'd been waiting for some kind of flashbacks for the longest time and Jeff Eastin certainly gave me a treat! I mean, when I thought 'flashback', I didn't imagine a whole episode of it! Talk about an embarrassment of riches! Peter's moustache! Mozzie's goatee, omg Mozzie's toupee (sp?), I couldn't stop laughing at first, it was just too good lol
But ok, the good stuff. I loved seeing the differences in younger!Neal and our!Neal. I mean, sure, the hair (mussed!Neal was absolutely delectable) and the clothes (un-ironed shirt! Jeans! Non-designer suits and stupid ties!) made a difference already and it was a lot of fun, but seeing a Neal that wasn't the slick and confident conman we know was so much better ♥ And it was really interesting to see the dynamics between him and Mozzie those years ago, compared to the one they share now. Neal did grow up!
I'll admit the episode and seeing Neal at his debut made me crave more because now I'd like to know what happened Before. What did make Neal choose that kind of life? Where did he come from before he met Mozzie? Where's his family? Why didn't he finish high school? I still don't know any of those things and I want to even more than before now! Here's to hoping we'll get more glimpses into his past.
So the Mozzie-Neal meeting and relationship development were a delight to see.
But the Peter-Neal parts of the flashback? Just made me squee. These two were totally meant to be! Seeing the birth of Peter's interest (obsession?) for Neal was fantastic - and I loved that it really did start out of respect for Neal's "talent". And Neal cheekiness when it came to Peter - it was there right from the start, wasn't it? Loved the lollipop thing ;-) And what about Neal's arrest! Nothing OTT, "just" four years of hunting coming to fruition because they'd finally managed to find the right angle. And of course it was Kate. Clever FBI agents are clever! Neal was so fucking classy during his arrest; I went all heart-eyes when he offered his hand for Peter to shake as a thank you. And I also loved that Peter accepted it; that was classy and gracious as well. Peter, you fucking rock.
Neal and Kate... it was interesting to see how they met. At first I thought she was in Vincent's scam and was just trying to con Neal (which was only fair, after all) - but then she wouldn't have lost everything when Vincent ran away? And everything that followed looked genuine so...
Alex and Neal's first meeting sorta set the tone for their future relationship, didn't it?
And Jones! Loved that he was the one who came to Peter to ask him to be part of the White Collar team. And that he'd already cracked a case all by himself. You go, Clinton! And Diana! The girlfriend part was just awesome :-) And even more awesome was the fact that it put them all on the right track... even though, poor Neal, going to prison etc. Diana, Jones and Peter already made a great team ♥
Also loved all the details; Neal not being so sure he's a "suit kinda guy". Vincent basically dressing him up. The hat! Peter and El moving into their house. Puppy!Satchmo!
But the flashbacks weren't the only happy-making scenes; Peter and Neal's little huis clos was delightful. How thoughtful of Peter to bring Neal's win- well, this, too ;-) And the full immunity! It was just incredibly sweet seeing them together like that, exchanging stories from their past, basically sharing a bit of themselves with the other, all night long.
And the banter was perfect too - loved the James Bonds nickname and Neal's reaction to it; his smugness and Peter's fond smile at Neal's smug look. I'll never get tired of seeing the looks and the smiles those two give each other. N.E.V.E.R!
