After reading a ridiculous "article" last week - written by a woman, and for the New York Times, no less - about the tv adaptation of Game of Thrones, women and fantasy, that basically explained that women don't like that genre and could only be interested in aforementioned tv adaptation thanks to the sex scenes that have been added - because everyone who's read the novel could tell you that there is not a single sex scene in aforementioned novel. I'm sure Daenerys would confirm it - it was a delight to read that new article by Susan C. Young about women who enjoy sci-fi/fantasy in general and women who are fans of A Game of Thrones in particular.

The show premiere is sitting on my HD but as I keep saying anyone who'll ask (or not) I'm still determined to finish reading the book before watching the show. Even though there's no way I could be spoiled since I'm ahead. Whatever, I'll stick by my resolution! I just hope I'll love the same characters than I do in the novel; I don't know, imagine the actor/actress doesn't do it for me? It'd be very sad... I'm not worried about Eddard (I mean, Sean Bean, dude!) but what about my other favourites? *fingers crossed*

On RL news, awesome holidays are still awesome. Today was lunch at a diner followed with a loooong stroll along the Canal Saint Martin before we got home and left again to go to the city pool for a little swimming. We've had our fill of sun the past few days, it's pretty awesome; incidentally, today I wore my new dress and it made me very happy :-) At this rate, there's no way we'll want to go back to work next tuesday lol But guess we'll have to deal and be reasonable adults and everything?

I ordered the first book today! Hopefully it'll be here before I leave so I can read it on the train, otherwise I'll have to wait for my parents to bring it to me at a later date... Come on Amazon, don't fail me! *fingers crossed*

ANOTHER dress? You're addicted! :D

\o/ Yay! I do hope you'll enjoy it *fingers crossed*

Or your parents could send the book to you? Just a thought.

ANOTHER dress? You're addicted

Omg I know! But apparently they're selling a lot of dresses that I find both cute and comfy, I'm doomed! Plus, it is true that wearing a dress means you don't have to find a top to match the skirt... it is totally less stressful :-)

women don't like that genre

What?! That is practically the only genre that I do like. Ugh. I haven't seen it yet, but I am confident in Sean Bean, Jason Momoa, and Mark Addy. Everyone else, potential eeeek! Or potential awesomeness, I guess.

That is a very pretty dress, and I'm sure you are very pretty in it!

Read faster, woman! I don't want to risk spoiling you by squeeing over the show too much!

But guess we'll have to deal and be reasonable adults and everything?
*blinks* the whole concept of adulthood is overrated anyway.

I've seen adverts for Game of Thrones and it actually looked pretty cool. I hate when people assume women won't be interested in certain things, like fantasy or action movies.

Here's an example that's been driving me bonkers lately:

There's an ad running for a new kind of Dr. Pepper (a soda that I don't believe is in France, if I recall correctly...it's kind of a cherry flavored soda) and it's geared toward men. The whole ad is like an action movie and the main character keeps saying that women won't like this because they'd rather be watching a chick flick. At the end, the tag line is "It's not for women."

Um, seriously? WTF? Aside from Viagra and tampons and the like, what products are geared specifically toward a sex like that? I like soda, I like Dr. Pepper, and I like action movies. UGH. I hate crap like this, even if it's kind of a tongue-in-cheek ad.

Anyways, I hope you're enjoying your continued holiday!

But I don't have time to read faster, that's the problem! We're out of the flat most of the day and/or evening and when we're back home, I don't always have the time or the opportunity to do so; it's not as if I were on my own and everything, you know?

I've reached page 550+ and omg it's so bloody stressful!!! It's just awful because when you get into a book like that, you know that you're going to end up stressed out, you know things are going to be awful but when it finally happens, being prepared didn't prepare you at all!

Re: the concept of adulthood being overrated; dude, TOTALLY!

I know, I couldn't believe that article, seriously. If the author had just said 'I don't like that genre, I much prefer chick lit and the only reason why I'd be interested in A Game of Thrones is the sex', I'd have been all right, I mean, to each their own, right? But to assume and just tell people that no women could get into that kind of stories just infuriated me.

And the fact that it was written by a woman was even more annoying. So we have to listen to that kind of crap from women too, eh? Lovely.

From that I could hear, the series resembles the novels, down to the atmosphere, so I do hope I'll end up enjoying it too. And that I'll love the same characters in both versions. I know it might sound silly to maybe not like a character just because of the actor/actress that portray them but sometimes, some actors-esses just don't work for me. Anyway, we'll see, I guess.

That is a very pretty dress, and I'm sure you are very pretty in it!

That's sweet of you to say, thanks *g*

Argh, this ad is so stupid!! Since when is a drink gender-geared? This is highly frustrating.

I have A Game of Thrones to watch, but my excuse is I haven't had the time to actually sit and do so. It's like you were saying to Babycakes, finding time is hard, especially when you add other people to the mix and nice things to do.

Also, your dress is very cute and I bet you look amazing in it.
