O.m.g! I actually missed [livejournal.com profile] xmenbigbang going live?? How did that happen? What, exactly, was I thinking when I became a member without watching the comm? When did I fall in the kind of parallel universe where I would do such thing? Just o_O Then again, that way, I was able to focus on my lit paper instead of OD'ing on fics and I'm hoping said lit paper will thank me for it. Of course now that I know, it's proving a bit difficult to focus on aforementioned lit paper that I need to finish for Friday, but I'm telling myself that I'll have plenty to read just in time for the Christmas holidays and, between you and me, the idea fills me with glee. Hee omg, it's Christmas before Christmas ♥

Speaking of Christmas (I'm happy to inform you that there won't be any pegging linked with Christmas in this entry! \o/) we bought our tree yesterday and decorated it - as well as the flat - tonight! Oh how I love that time of the year! Decorating the house is maybe my favourite activity of the year :-) We had Michael Bublé's Christmas CD in the background and it's one of those happy & quiet moments in life ♥ ♥

As per usual, I'll share some photos

Our Christmas tree for 2011, hi Christmas tree! Some of the ornaments come from my grandparents, some others from my parents, some others Cookie brought from her mother's. There are ornaments that I bought, some that she bought and some new ones that we bought, as well as some that were given to us as gifts by friends (both from RL and CL). Meaning those ornaments are priceless, pretty, funny, fannish, precious, dorky, amusing etc. etc. Another word would be, "perfect" ;-)
The traditional Christmas village: no new item this year. Well, for now. December isn't over yet :-)
Something new. Two of those are cards we bought ourselves, the one in the middle is the first card I received this year sent by [livejournal.com profile] loki_dip (thank you again!)
A little close up.
The old. If I had to keep one item it'd be this one, I think: it's a wooden Christmas tree that my grandfather made for my mother and godfather when they were little kids. That is, one of them; my mother has one, as well as my sister, godfather and cousins.
The new. As in the Christmas tree on the right, which we got last month. The Santa Claus on the left is one of the Christmas decorations that moved into the house when Cookie did last year :-)
Another close-up. Of the tree, obviously :-)

Cookie suggested we started our Christmas films watching, which was a most excellent idea, and I picked The Muppet Christmas Carol. What with the decorations all around and the film, I was in the right mood to start writing my cards, so I sat down to do just that and I truly thought I'd write ALL THE CARDS... except I ended up only doing five of them. But, hey, five is better than none, so go me! Hopefully I'll post them tomorrow then start on a new batch. Wish me luck!

So much YAY in this post! I love it so. *squishes*

I need to start my cards for realz this week! My apologies in advance if you don't receive my card until after Christmas. :P

Glad you enjoyed it!

Don't apologise, I'm usually the one who sends Christmas cards for Easter... when I do send them at all! I'm just glad I sent mine early for a change :-)

I got my international cards out yesterday. I have a feeling they won't make it overseas in time, but do be on the lookout for yours soon. :)

I sure will ;-) And thanks in advance!

No pegging linked with Christmas? SADNESS!

Your decorations are gorgeous, and I love the new additions. I really like how you hang your cards too. I have a string but the cards are just draped over the top. I want tiny pegs.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 08:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I should have phrased it differently because said like that, I guess it is sad! lol

Thank you :-)

Super mimi!
J'aime beaucoup le fait que l'esprit de Noël se transmette de génération en génération^^

Merci.

Et oui c'est ce que j'adore avec nos décorations, elles ont une histoire :-)

Just think of the Christmas glee you'll have when you've finished the paper.

The Muppet Christmas Carol! :D I love that one. And also the Blackadder Christmas Carol, you should watch that if you haven't seen it.

[identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com 2011-12-20 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a lot of Christmas glee when I finished and handed the paper in, you were right!

I've never watched Blackaddder Christmas Carol but I'll make sure to check it out, thanks for the rec :-)

See, I am just allknowing.

Really? It's awesome. You should definitely watch it!

Wheee, Christmas pictures! I love the tree and the decorations and the thought of using things that used to belong to previous generations! We got the tree yesterday and I should decorate it tonight with Alby. I'll try to sneak in some more decorations but as Tom is not a big decoration fan, I'll have to see how far I can go :P My mother has a Christmas village as well, but I think yours is lovelier, mum has exaggerated a bit. I'll see if I can upload a picture when we go there New Year's Eve.

I had the same problem with the card writing. I had bought them on Saturday and in the evening ended up writing a few addresses and that's that. So yeah, I'll see when I can actually write the cards :P

I like christmas villages in general so if you have the opportunity to take that picture, it'd be nice :-)

I did send my cards early, I amazed myself lol
