Today didn't feel like a Monday at all and it flew by, which is always a plus in any workdays. I've gone through a little phase where I had trouble enjoying what I was doing (it was mostly through December, though) and I'm happy that the feeling has completely gone. It didn't last long but it was unpleasant.
I have another reason to be in a good mood this week, I've taken Wednesday off. It won't be a day of leisure as I'll use the time to work on a paper for school, but I've realised that aforementioned day off coincides with White Collar's season finale (that is D-Day+1), which means that I'll have the opportunity to watch it right after it's done downloading (I always download in the morning. Which is frustrating as it also means I have to go to work with the knowledge that the episode is already sitting on my HD and teasing me). So I intend to have a lie in before I watch the episode and then I'll go the library to work. I approve.
Stil about work (but actually about the Oscars), it was fun at work today because everyone was talking about The Artist and Jean Dujardin and the Oscars. It's also amusing to think of Americans discovering Jean Dujardin in the film because, obviously, we French have been following him since the very beginning of his career and it is indeed incredible to think of his "journey". Speaking of the beginning of his career, it includes gem like this one - Brice from Nice, a character that he's still famous for today and that's become a sort of classic. As proof, just last Saturday my BIL mocked me for something and quoted Brice when he did ;-) Dude, it's odd to think that "Brice" actually got an oscar lol
Speaking of early career and beginning - I'll use the above as a segue for my answers to the meme that I've seen all around my flist the past few days.
First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
I actually never had "self-insertion fantasies" for any of the shows (and they were many) that I watched. I never did that; either for shows or for books. I would sometimes pretend to be characters from shows when I played with friends or my sister and cousins, yes (I remember playing Thundercats during recess in primary school, for instance, or playing Jeanne et Serge - Attacker You - with my sister when we played volley-ball) but that was different.
First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
Well. I'd say The Sentinel but to be honest I feel like the "with other fans" part needs to be turned into "with another fan", singular. I did belong to a couple of Yahoogroups but it was a) more because I had no other alternatives at the time and b) mostly for the fics. Come to think of it, there was one exception with a French The Sentinel YG that I belonged to (I actually got to meet Garett Maggart thanks to those fangirls) but I can't say I had a lot of interactions with other fans pre-LJ. I did talk about The Sentinel a lot with
turps33 during our daily mails, though. A lot!
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
Duncan/Methos. Highlander is the fandom that taught me what slash was. I remember finding a fic with the mention "Duncan/Methos" and actually thinking, "hey, funny, what's the slash between them about?" The rest, as they say, is history ;-) #SweetNostalgia
First RPS/RPF I read:
I was going to say Jared/Jensen (SPNRPS) but that's not true. Then I was going to say Sean/David or Viggo/David (Lotrips) but I'm not even sure that's 100% accurate either. I'm actually wondering whether the very first RPS I ever read (before I was even into RPS?) wasn't
turps33's Boxes story (NSYNC, ie popslash). I was never into Popslash but the premise looked good and it was a Terri story and I ended up reading it. And loving it. It was a one time thing, though.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, 'YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...':
I just know I read fics that made me go "wow, I wish I could write like that" but I don't remember the one fic that made me think that...
Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
Jim/Blair, The Sentinel
First OTP:
Since HL is the fandom that made me discover fandom, my firs OTP is Duncan/Methos. The Sentinel was my #1 fandom and Jim/Blair my #1 OTP for the longest time, though. But I guess it's for another meme :-)
First fannish friend I met in person:
IIRC it was
alinewrites and it was at a Stargate convention in Paris.
First character I formally roleplayed:
That was fun!
