Super crue !
Jun. 3rd, 2016 10:10 pmWell, not really but that's what everyone is talking about at the moment. Basically (and historically), everyone has been "waiting" for the next catastrophic flood to hit Paris. It's supposed to happen once every hundred years and the last one (the Big one) was the infamous 1910 flood. So it's technically overdue and, admittedly, this time around, the level is quite impressive: they've closed the quays (well, you could swim there, anyway), some metro and train lines (including mine, as it happens, ô joie) some museums etc. It's quite the event.
Some pictures here or here.
Plus two pics that my sister took while driving back home from Paris.

Why, yes, there is a lamppost somewhere in there. Because guess what, you're not supposed to sail there. No, this is actually where you usually, you know, walk. Stand down and wave at the tourists sailing on the Seine. Sit down with your friends and have a picnic. And other things unrelated to swimming!

And because everyone has been taking pictures of the banks of the Seine, here are a couple taken on our way home, in Choisy.
Next to the station. Before it closed before water on the rails? Not exactly advised. Ok, see that little lifeboat? It should be a car, as in that's a road. You're not supposed to sail there but drive.

Speaking of cars, someone most certainly had a surprise when they woke up yesterday morning. Although that was, indeed, yesterday, because today? You could only see the very top of said car.

Then on our way home. I tried to find a picture of what it usually looks likes and couldn't find any, so let's imagine there is a path when you get down the stairs. And I don't mean two steps, I mean you get down around 3m and then you walk along the Seine. As for the trees you see there? Are only the top of the trees.

So the city hall dudes decided to take matters into their own hands! Look, two wood planks! To stop the flood! I bet other cities are jealous of us! To think they have metal protection when they could have tiny wood planks. This is what I call top safety measures!

Or not. Didn't work out so well, eh?

And a last one. Look, our little ducks lost their nests! As well as their usual resting spots.
Things have been a bit eventful but, in reality, we're lucky, we've been spared from a serious flood here, which isn't the case of everyone.
I'm going to Lausanne (Switzerland) for work next week, I'm hoping the weather will be more pleasant there ;)
