The Old Guard
I'm this close to add "this. this is the post" and leave it at that because this entry has basically no other content than this. The Old Guard. As in, I watched it. I enjoyed it a whole lot. I now want all of you to go and watch it too so we can have fun talking about it. And when I say "talk about it" I mean talk about Joe/Yusuf and Nicky/Nicolò, alright? Oh my, those two had my heart in a second, ie. the moment when you see them spooning in their sleep and you realise they're an item.
I'd heard the movie was slashy, I had no idea it was actually canon, talk about a surprise ♥ You should have seen (or heard) Cookie and me when the camera caught them. The sheer volume of our "AWWWomgtheyreacouple!" It was out of this world lol
So yeah, they had us right there. Then came Joe's ode to his "All and More" and er, I was done!
The ladies aren't far behind, mind you, Andy/Quynh, anyone?
We are not talking about the movie of the year as such but The Old Guard is highly entertaining, the characters are likable and interesting, the ladies badass, there is a sort of intimist and languid feel to it amidst all the action, the fight scenes are fantastic and the whole 'verse has so much potential. Also, what's behind the cut ;)
Anyway! I'd love to stay and chat some more but er, I have a new AO3 tab opened and fics that are calling my name so... toodles!
PS: and I just found out it's actually based on a comic which, yes, makes so much sense! I'm hopeful for a sequel now. Or a prequel. Something!

<snicker> Re-reading your TOG posts several weeks later. When I read this the first time -- including under the cut, because spoilers are my friend -- my reaction was, "That's nice. I'll have to try to see it one of these days," but it was no big deal, you know?
Now, as you're working on story #6 and I'm adding (for the 4th? time) content to my transcript, I know the truth...
