Lost 1x03 - Tabula Rasa + TS false-drabble

castalieBabycakes and I just finished our Lost marathon - yay! So okay, there're only three episodes but I'm sorry, that's still a marathon if you watch them all in a row. We actually watched Tabula Rasa twice. One this afternoon after we were both back --like we'd planned-- and a second time during the marathon.
Conclusion? We're still madly in love with that show. It's like a present that keeps on giving.
Technically I don't really have a lot to say about this episode, though I have the feeling it'll end up longer than I originally thought, anyway *g* So here we go : even though I did like it very much. But in a way, it was a calm episode. I mean, sure things happened and we had some semi revelations, but after seeing the preview for next week, it almost had a calm-before-the-storm feel to it.
Something that I love is that we can still have some pretty intense moments just thanks to the characters and their interactions with each other. And we have enough interesting characters to be entertained, wow.
Don't want to sound redundant or anything but Charlie? Still #1. I always say I can't exactly explain it, that it's just something about him that attracts me and it's still true but I know there's a certain vulnerability in him that I adore. He's just adorable. He's always trying to talk with others, trying to connect somehow. And I'm still waiting for his addiction problem to come out btw lol It's a matter of time, that's what I'm telling myself, but I'm pretty impatient *bounces* Incidentally, most of my favourite lines come from him too - he cracks me up, I just love him to pieces. And yes, this is becoming a new motto, better get used to it, guys lol
I'm loving Sayid more and more. The way he takes charge without ever sounding too overwhelming. He's part of the leader team but he's not trying to take over or anything. Though considering his nationality, I guess TPTB wouldn't ever have considered doing that with his character, but whatever. I like that he's being so helpful, taking care of the group, making them participate in their own survival and everything.
Actually, that's another thing I like in that show so far. There's not exactly one leader - at first glance, you think it's Jack. Then Kate appears in the picture and you realise he definitely shares responsibilities with her - then it's Sayid's turn to show he has an important role to play as well and the leadership is once more shared. I mean, of course you see a hierarchy among the characters, but in any other show you would have had Jack as Number #1 and everyone else following him. Here, it's different. Actually in ep2, you almost didn't see Jack. Then ep3 was more about Kate and her secret. They share storylines, they share screentimes - they share pretty much everything *g* So I love that. And speaking of loving and Kate - it's not any show that would have the male characters demand that the gun is given to a female character. But here again, that's exactly what happens. During the scene with Boone With the Gun, Sayid tells him to give the gun back to Kate. Not him - Kate. And everyone agrees. I enjoyed that.
Kate and her secret now. Well, the semi-revelation didn't exactly bring anything new. Apart from the fact that we're supposed to believe she's not really a criminal or if she is, she certainly had good reasons to do whatever the hell she did. I thought it was interesting that she, as the supposed criminal was depicted as being kind and generous whereas the marshall, who was after all only doing his job and a job where he's supposedly protecting people by arresting the bad guys, was portrayed as pretty much an asshole. So we don't know what to really think of the situation, like when he warns Jack so vehemently - what was he really trying to say? And why? What's their story. Because it really seems there was something between them, whatever it was. It seemed so personal for Schrapnel Guy. Well, that's how it looked to me, I mean lol And typical, Jack plays the noble hero again and allows Kate to keep her secret *sigh* Man, what about us? Some of us would have loved to know lol But I guess we're not exactly over with that, though tabula rasa should mean something, like yeah okay, we're all forgetting about the past and we're moving on, we get that, but still - it doesn't have to mean it will work.
Locke now. This guy is so intriguing! So okay he was Creepy Guy... then in today's episode he suddenly became Generous and Thougtful Guy by allowing Michael to pretend he was the one to have found Vincent for his son. And in the end? He had to ruin it by looking all scary again! I mean, what was that look? Who is this guy, what does he want?
And talk about a contrast between that very last scene and the one right before that. The music was all nice and cute and everyone was being generous and giving, sharing with others - Sayid's apple, Boone's glasses etc etc - everyone was settling and we were having a nice and carefree moment and then bam! It had to follow with Locke being scary.
Ahhh so many questions, so few answers - that's Lost for you and that's how we like it lol
Also the First Line meme? Is really fun :
a) I got two Lost drabbles written just for me. The first one by Terri and the second one by Babycakes. Lovely lovely drabbles dealing with the theme I love so much, which incidentally is a spoiler, so you're warned *g*
b) I wrote another response for Terri, picking her The only thing that we don't do together is fuck! line - it's another TS false-drabble --unbetaed again-- because did you know that I love when Jim and Blair are doing wicked things to each other? Because apparently I do :
“The only thing that we don't do together is fuck! Why is that, Jim, huh, why? What's wrong with you anyway - you're a detective, you're supposed to buy a clue. So why don't take what is so obviously offered? And I'm talking about me by the way."
Well, if that wasn't a come on, Jim didn't know what it was. He could have started a long speech explaining why he'd never exactly tried to put a real move on his Guide, he could have talked and talked - if it had been his MO, which wasn't the case.
He prowled towards Blair who was looking so very hot, all indignant and intent, and he decided to show the man that if someone ran the show in that household, it was him, James Ellison - in a swift move that had Blair gasp in surprise Jim had the younger man sprawled on his back on the kitchen table, legs spread wide, effectively offered. He planted himself between the opened thighs and pushed his cock against his partner's, eliciting a moan. Jim bent forward and took Blair's mouth in a hungry kiss. When he ended the kiss, he couldn't help but chuckle at Blair's smirk - apparently they were both exactly where they wanted to be.
"Took you long enough, big guy," Blair said, licking his lips. He thrust against his partner's crotch, both of them groaning at the rough and sensual touch. And they were still clothed! Maybe they wouldn't survive the whole thing - but hey, what a way to go!
Jim, still bent over Blair's upper body, nuzzled his cheek, ear and neck, smiling. "Maybe I was waiting for the right time. Did you think of that?"
"What I think is that you were slow," Blair panted between kisses of his own. "Seems to me that subtle doesn't always get you where you want."
Jim bit Blair's neck and groaned as the man's legs wrapped tightly around his waist, bringing their cocks even closer if that was possible through their jeans. "Right now, the only place I want to get in is that tight ass of yours, Chief. And like you said, I'm a detective. I think I'll have to investigate that body - and start with a cavity search, what do you say?"
The laughter that was ripped out of Blair soon turned into a moan as Jim start to work on his... detective work. He'd been cop of the year after all, and he had a reputation to live up to.
