So I? Woke up at 7.30 this morning to study. My only goal was to finish everything I had to do in order to get my reward, namely Numb3rs 1x13 - when it was finally time, an eternity later, it felt so good that no word can describe it. And now I'm going to read my flist and just relax and I want to shout from joy! *might be a bit high too*

Before I start and so that we understand each other: there's going to be some squee moments mentioned in that review. And when I say 'some'? I'm lying. All right. On with the review now.

I wish they would just mention Terry's absence. Like, just one line? It would work with me, really. So okay there's a major RL reason why Sabrina Lloyd wasn't there those past episodes but that's hardly the point, why isn't Terry there, that's what I'd like to know, if it makes sense. Or did they mention it already? I sometime miss a line or two, so that wouldn't be totally unrealistic.

My first thought when I saw Tough Guy Cooper? Wasn't even ohhhh Don-Cooper sparkage but ohhhh I wonder how Charlie and Cooper will react to each other. Sorry, as much as I love Don - and like with Jim, I truly love Don - Charlie is always #1, a little above Don, so that's why... Also in my world? That's the only time when Charlie is on top.

But something really awesome in that series? Well Something Really Awesome In That Series #1458265 is the chemistry pretty much all characters seem to have with one another even the guest characters. Like, I won't even mention Edgerton - oops, I did - and now Cooper and just wow, the sparkage, you know? And between men, too, that's quite beautiful to see. And I'm not even talking from a slasher's POV here. It's just really wonderful character dynamic, is all.

So yeah, I like those tidbits we get on either Don or Charlie's life Before and first with Kim and now with Cooper, we're getting quite an interesting view of what Don's life was back then. Add to that Alan's worry about his son's behaviour and wow, it makes the whole thing so much more intense. I quite enjoyed the whole dark!Don theme, you know? And when he went crazy on IForgotHisName after they lost Bad Guy in the bar? Ohhhh *wide eyes* That was wild. My first thought though? Damn, good thing Charlie wasn't there - that's not exactly how he needs to see his brother behaving *shakes head* Yeah, even when Charlie isn't included in a scene, he's never far from my mind.

So the above? I really liked. Like really.liked. But! It was nothing compared to other scenes, which unsurprisingly enough all included Don-Charlie, Don-Charlie-Alan, Alan-Charlie, Larry-Charlie - well, you know the drill by now, right?

Like, Larry-Charlie [Larry/Charlie works for me too, btw, but that's neither here nor there]: a) in the alley at la casa del Eppes when Charlie 'reenacts' the accident-that-wasn't-an-accident - that was cute. They make such a great team, they're so attuned to each other *happy sigh* And speaking of cute, b) in Charlie's office when he's being sorta manic about the equation being so difficult because the guy is said to have been seen in different places at the same time? So Charlie puts a hand on his face and peeks at Larry through his fingers and the Mouse goes squeeeeeeeeeee *dies* OMG *gasp* Is there an icon of that moment somewhere?

OH and speaking of the alley scene...did you actually see? Don did the exact same thing. In his office with Cooper, he played out a scene to really understand what had happened during the fake accident. I just thought that was cute *g*

OH OH! I forgot to mention the scene at Don's office between Don-Charlie-Cooper when Charlie starts to explain his theory and he knows Cooper is being quite skeptical at first and he looks at Don in reassurance and Don looks back and that's all Charlie needs to really go to town with his math *loves too*

So anyway I was already in squeeing mode but that was nothing compared to the Classroom Scene And Everything Else Til The Very Last Second Of The Episode that came later. The squee with the following scenes? Could belong to the Squee of the Holy Squee order.

It all happened in several steps:

Step 1: We're seeing Charlie in his natural habitat! In a classroom! Teaching! And being so delicious and all and heeeeee Alan is here!
Step 2: OMG and then there's Don too! I so love it when he comes to Charlie but this time it's even sweeter because it's like he couldn't actually wait for Charlie's class to be officially over, no he entered the classroom while his little brother was still working.
Step 3: And Alan sees him and joins him and they talk about Charlie and just - *happy sigh*
And then:
Step 4: We have the daddy!Eppes-Don convo with worried!Alan and a reference to a time when Don was falling to the dark side of the force and that was already cool enough, but THEN:
Step 5: Charlie joins them and is all eager and it's so clear he just really wants his dad to tell him he enjoyed the class and of course Alan is enthusiastic about it and man, that character? Is so very awesome. Like, he might not always understand how Charlie's mind works but he wants to show him that he's interested in his world anyway and he wants to reach out to Charlie on his ground and if there's something sweeter or more loving than this, really, I wonder what it can be *feels the Eppes love*
But it's not all:
Step 6: Alan's I'll see you at home. Both of you's line. Order disguised as a casual statement... only parents know how to do that *bows to Alan's power*

Let's pretend - for a second - that I didn't love Alan already, that I didn't even really like him all that much - so okay, it almost hurts to say it, but let's just pretend - well that scene? Would have convinced me of how stupid and mean I was before because PLEASE! Can that character be more awesome? I DON'T THINK SO! And okay I need to stop screaming *clears throat*

But seriously the Classroom Scene was really wonderful, and for so many reasons, too - but above all, I liked the idea of Charlie showing both his father and brother - more Alan than Don since Don arrived at the end, but whatever - how good he is in his world because, well, of course Alan and Don both know how fucking good Charlie is at what he does, and of course they know how smart and utterly brilliant he is, have known since, well, since he was a toddler really - but when it comes down to it, each time Charlie pulls his magic - you know what I mean - it's for Don's job... it's essentially something that has to do with Don's world. But here at CalSci, Charlie is on his turf, and in a classroom? He's not deferring to anyone - he's the one who knows how it works, knows how to reach out to his students - he's utterly confident and just GUH! I loved it *g* I was waiting for a scene like that, and I was hoping Don would be there but Alan? That was the best thing ever. Like my expectations were met and then some!

Then of course the end of the episode happened and er, we were reaching some almost unbearable peaks of cute by then:

First: during the convo between Cooper and Don when Don explains that he likes his new life now because he's near his family and all and when he goes L.A. is good for me, I went aaaaaw, because, yeah Don, L.A is good for you. In particular if by L.A we mean Alan and Charlie *nodnod*

Second: Chess! With.Don.and.Alan.ganging.up.on.Charlie. I don't think I really need to develop, here, right? That scene? KILLED ME DEAD! I'm demanding that they put some warnings from now on *is all serious* Charlie alone would have killed me dead actually because MAN! Seeing him so over-confident - arrogant and endearing little shit that he was here - and in the end, losing the game and realising he'd been wrong with his anomaly thing all along... that was almost too good to be true - plus, references to stuff that has been said in previous episodes so hail to that. His moves, which were becoming more and more 'violent' each time it was his turn to play and his face - priceless! What finished me though was his is this a reliable dictionary line *is on the floor* If I had 60 icon slots, I would ask for another icon of that scene with that caption on it lol Mind, just having it would be enough for now.

And then he was all whiny and stuff and just... that was just the perfect scene ever! His 'punishment' was quite good too; Oh yeah? You were mean to me and ganged up on me and then distracted me well it's the last time I play with you *does little move with his hand* Take that, meanie! *is still on the floor*

But when you think the Numb3rs PTB gave all they could in the cute department? You realise you were mistaken and then they give you a last scene which... well, you're already dead, so it makes you deader? And that is the Old Man v Little Boy banter, including another previous-episode-reference with the scrabble thing and... just... I won't ever ever EVER grow tired of the family dynamic in that series. I'll NEVER get tired of it, you hear me? *hugs family driven show tight*

Oh btw, always nice guest stars in Numb3rs - that was Angie Christina Cox. Nice *g*

That was... a nice episode - no big deal *tries to pretend she didn't die of squee all over the place just one minute ago*

Also for the record. I so miss btefnet. So there are rumours circulating about how our beloved site might not be as dead as we think and I love that theory myself, but truth is I had to find my file somewhere else this morning and that was just wrong. Feels like the end of an era. Though of course the important point of it all is that I could find Numb3rs somewhere. And that the download worked and all - bar one nanosecond of commercial break but it's really just a minor detail.

I can't believe we reached the season finale already *sob* Thank God I found BT in time to get everything I wanted. Now, I'll just re-watch each and every episode this summer while waiting for season 2 to air, and they'd better not mess with that, btw. But no, I totally trust what I heard and anyway, not renewing that show would be the stupidest thing ever! Of course, we're speaking of people in the tv industry and we all know how they sometime makes of stupidity a way of life. But that's not the point!
