I woke up this morning knowing today would be a me day and it was good.
Then I realised I'd received a parcel from![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
stacy_l and it was better. You wouldn't believe what the girl did for me! While she was at her SG con, she took tons of pictures of pretty much everyone from the cast and sent them my way, but she didn't stop at that, oh no! She got me three gorgeous mini-posters - one of SG-1, one of yummy Jack and Daniel and another even yummier of Daniel - as well... so was that all? NO! Hear this, she asked MS to sign yet another pic for me! *dies* I'm starting a collection, I swear! And you know, it's not the first time she does something that incredible, the TS pic that GM signed for me? It was her doing too. It was an even more beautiful gesture to me that she's not even into TS - so to have her join the TS panel at that multi-fandom con and ask GM to sign a pic for me... well, just imagine how happy it made me *g* Man, I have the best of friends! Thank you so much, Stacy. I hope the card I sent you was coherent enough to show you how much I love your gifts *hugs*
So I started my day quite well, as you can imagine lol
After ogling at my gifts for quite some time - most of the pics made it to myfandom shrine computer desk immediately - I wish I had a digital camera to show them off - I was in the mood for some SG, so I re-watched Icon.
Boy do I love that episode! I think I remember seeing some mixed reviews about it and I think one of the major complaints was that the flashbacks broke the rhythm but I really liked the 'paralleled' time lines. It emphasised the sense of doom to me, I just love that *g*
I didn't like that episode as much as "The Other Side" but there were some elements that reminded me of that one, and since "The Other Side" is one of my favourite episode in SG ever, it'll explain why I enjoyed "Icon" so much - it's like the members of SG-1 aren't on their turf anymore, they're not fighting the Goaul'd, they don't have all the cards in their hands - they're involved in something different, something that usually overwhelms them because they're not exactly actors but observers of what is happening around. How can you really get involved in someone else's war? It's way too complicated - sure you can help, and SG-1 being SG-1 they have to interfere but it doesn't always have a happy or resolved ending, which makes it so much more interesting.
So yeah, I really love the whole SG-intervenes-and-creates-an-even-worse-situation-on-the-planet - it wasn't a first exactly - like Jack said himself - but I like this kind of theme because when you decide to invite yourself all over the galaxy, your interference is bound to create mayhem and chaos once or twice... or you know, regularly. You have to accept the consequences, even when it's not exactly your fault, still - you also have to accept that your help won't automatically make everything better even if you try real hard.
Oh on a side note - Jack's Howdy fellas? Excuse me, Howdy fellas? What the hell - *blink* Oh no wait, that was supposed to be goofy!Jack, silly me *shakes head* Man, I'm sorry but I really didn't like it. Sure, those guys were dangerous fanatics - they were not the good guys, far from it - but I'm sorry, you're the General, you're supposed to representthe United States Earth, you try and show them you take things really seriously and you also try to be strong and show respect for the whole situation because in this case? It was Jack who sounded disrespectful and stupid to me *shrug* I know, Jack isn't Hammond blah blah blah - well sometimes he could try to make some effort. He has responsabilities after all. Don't think this is any kind of vendetta against the man, I couldn't hate nor dislike Jack, but sometimes there're things about the way he behaves that just get on my nerves - no offense, Jack, all right?
I liked his little FIND HIM to Carter though, because I love serious and intense Jack, thanks. And he was worried, wasn't he?
Finally, still on the subject of SG. I found this cool site with lovely artwork all around - Lady Littlefox has some awfully cute chibi SG characters - my favourites being Chibi Daniel and Chibi Sleepy Daniel.
Kawai, huh? *pets chibi*
Oh and on something different - I liked reading the reviews for Darklight that aired yesterday. It was as cheesy as it looked apparently - I don't think I would have been disappointed lol Sometimes, badmovies are really cool. They represent a category of their own after all, right? *g*
