Angel fest.

And now without the slightest segue:
So I watched the first episodes of Angel S4, up to "Apocalypse Nowish" aka "Rain of Fire" and I'm still in love, definitely. So yeah, some observations, as they say :
#1 - Well boy, I thought angsty!Wesley of S3 was, well, angsty and dark enough, but I hadn't seen anything yet. S4!Wesley is something else alright - at least the first part of it *blink* It's pretty amazing the changes his character went through, I mean people warned me about it but knowing isn't the same thing as huh, seeing for myself, and the differences between early-Angel!Wes and later-Angel!Wes just blow me away, wow. There were lots of lines or scenes that were painful in those episodes I saw, but there's one that really broke my heart - the one when Gunn asks him what happened to him to make him behave like he does and Wesley answers I had my throat cut and my friends abandoned. Oh man, he broke my heart, I tell you! And I don't know when they'll go back to being a team again, but they're sure taking their sweet time and they're hurting me with their resentment and distrust and overall unhappiness *sob* Though I wouldn't have wanted it any other way because I hate it when one episode has the characters go through a very painful time and the next everything is forgotten and everyone is happily living in merry land as if nothing fucking happened. Doesn't work that way after all and, sure enough, Angel could write a text book about that *wide eyes*
#2 - It's quite impressive how many characters I love in that show. I mean, Wesley is at the Top of the List, yes, but the whole gang is quite high on my Like-o-meter too. Be it Angel, Cordelia - though I can't say I'm that impressed with her arc in the episodes I saw, I wasn't exactly into it - Gunn, Fred, Lorne or Lilah. Cause yes, I absolutely love Lilah. She's evil, sure, but she's so fucking classy and she's Teh Boss and she kicks ass, even if it's for the wrong side, and I just love her, which actually brings me to :
#3 - I'm afraid it'll shock some people but I found Wesley/Lilah fucking interesting as pairing goes and their relationship was so fucked up but so intense at the same time that I was hook- wait a minute, did I call what they had 'relationship? Damn *hands a dollar... decides to sign it too* Well actually no wait *grabs another dollar* Their relationship really fascinated me. Also, they were fucking hot together, I'm not kidding! They were rough and dirty and naughty and just hot. And it's a good thing too, cause if I had to sum up Wesley's scenes in this first episodes of the season, it would go something like this : Wesley angsts. Wesley fucks Lilah. Wesley angsts. Lilah fucks Wesley. But there was more to just fucking between them, wasn't it? And it might not have been the most healthy relationship ever, I'll give you that, but there was something, and in a twisted way, that's what made it so interesting for me. Cause it was, I don't know, rough and raw. Also don't put words in my mouth, I'm not saying loving and sweet and equal and healthy relationships are boring or uncool, I'm just saying that as far as Wesley/Lilah goes, I was interested in different aspects of a relationship. So yes, I Mousey Mouse, actually rooted for a het pairing. And if you want to know the truth, I don't exactly mind Angel/Cordelia nor Fred/Gunn either - and hey, those are difficult too, but not that fucked-up exactly, or not for the same reasons at all, so see? Though the whole Cordelia/Connor thing? Left me totally blank. I was going meh at the whole thing *shrug*
#3b - No, I won't start looking for Wes/Lilah fanfic. As far as fanon goes, I'm still a die hard slasher. Just one of those times when canon and fanon go in different directions, is all *g*
#4 - Actually back to Connor, I just don't really know what to think of him. I can't say I like him per se, though I don't dislike him either. I'm afraid I don't really care whether he's here or not so far, cause I can't really see his purpose. I mean, no, it's obvious what role he has and of course it brings angst to a new level and stuff, but... I can't seem to get interested in that character. I feel sorry for Angel and I feel so sad that he lost his son like he did and it's really sweet seeing him always taking care of Connor in the background and be all proud of him and stuff, though he was so deeply hurt by Connor's action in Tomorrow and afterwards with the whole Cordelia/Connor thing, but no matter how angsty I find his storyline, I still don't care for Connor *shrug*
#5 - Cordelia is Daniel! Or Daniel is Cordelia, as you wish. Though I don't think glowy!Daniel really ever got bored in the higher plane - I mean, he had so many cool stuff to do, like, visit other worlds, visit Jack, give him glowy blow jobs, nag Jack while he was being held captive, nag Jack some more and fight evil while sorta-not-interfering. You know, the usual? But hey, they both got descended. Though we had nekkid!Daniel but not nekkid!Cordelia. But they both had amnesia, which as everyone knows, is the main ingredient in the ex-glowy being recipe. Anyway, if there's one lesson to be taught with either Cordy or Daniel it's that being a higher being isn't what it's cracked up to be, after all.
#6 - Can't wait until I buy the second part of S4. Also, I need to pre-order S5 at amazon so that I can get it as soon as it's released here *g*
As for "Spin the Bottle"? To say that I enjoyed the episode like mad would be the understatement of the year - what am I saying, of the century! Actually, the first time I watched it, it took twice as long as normal cause I kept rewinding every scene. Then I watched it a second time from start to finish with discipline and strong will, then yet another time with the commentary on, because Alexis Denisof was doing it, omg! This episode is utterly brilliant and hilarious and I just love it to pieces.
And I could say a lot of things about it because, you know, I can say a lot of things about, well, a lot of things but what I enjoyed the most was how suddenly, I had Wesley back! I mean, it was supposedly a real young!Wesley but you know what I mean. It still was the dorky and sweet!Wes we knew at the beginning, not this dark and unhappy, unsmiling incarnation. Dork!Wesley was there!! And the contrast with now!Wes was so... incredible and so wonderfully put in the foreground that... it actually made it somewhat quite sad, but during the episode it didn't count because I was too busy melting and laughing and squeeing at Wesley's antics because how could I not?
I don't know what made me laugh the most, though the whole Head Boy conversation has a place of honour in the list *nodnod* There were way too many hilarious moments - and not just from Wes, I mean, from everyone. Damn, it was good *happy sigh*
So yeah, Angel still rocks like a rocking thing *g*
Speaking of fun. "The Summit" was on today and can I say again thank you to TPTB for giving me canon slave!Daniel? Though I'll always be mourning the fact that instead of wearing the pretty ugly outfit he wore with the sorta disgraceful arm bands - twasn't to my taste, I'm afraid - he could have been one the black-leather-wrist-band-chest-harness-clad slaves we saw with the other System Lords. But hey, I still had slave!Daniel kneeling of front of his Lord, so I'm happy!

snurch_tv kill YSI yesterday? Cause if it did, YSI seems to have gotten its revenge apparently - it's almost poetic. Too bad though *sigh* But some things, as cool as they are, aren't meant to last, I suppose. As a result, I lost my Tru Calling download... and I'm now looking for Numb3rs 1x02 *pout* If someone has the file and would be willing to upload it somewhere - let me know, please? Thanks *g*
