Top Five pt1
Jul. 22nd, 2005 10:45 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
The weekend is here! And it's actually a four-day weekend for me cause I have Monday and Tuesday off *loves* Oh and I also have tendinitis - on my right wrist, so it's not that bothersome - which doesn't have anything to do with the rest, but whatever, it's true. It also means I'm taking forever to type this entry but my hand is wrapped in such a way that I can still type so hi! Am typing!
And today being Friday also means that tomorrow is Sci-fi Saturday, yay! I fucking can't wait for "Avalon" pt 2 *hugs self* As well as "Valley of Darkness" *bounces*
But anyway, the entry I'm taking forever to type. I played with the Top Five meme and wound up being obsessive-compulsive about it, so apparently the answers made it to their own entry.
moimoietmoi - Top Five Worst Series I Ever Watched
That's a bit of a tricky question. Do you mean the worst series compared to - what I consider as - the good ones? Or real bad series? And by 'watched' do you mean 'followed' or just 'watched'? Because, like, I don't watch a series when it's truly bad... except okay, maybe sometimes I do lol
1- The worst series I ever watched is Sunset Beach. It was a truly bad soap, with appalling acting and a pretty awful dubbing to boot. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. And my sister and I still watched it whenever we could because it was so fucking hilarious. Now, I know that some people watch soaps and feel a tad embarrassed about it and usually claim that they watch it because it's funny but I'm not like that, I usually don't apologise for the stuff I like and I don't try to pretend anything so really I'm not lying here. It was so bad that it became funny-bad. It was just so very OTT. And it's not soaps in general I'm making fun of here, they're not my cup of tea - except for The Archers though that's totally different, of course *cough* - but I don't have anything against them, so I'm seriously just mocking that soap.
2- I'm tempted to say Poltergeist: the Legacy too because, well, it wasn't exactly the best series that ever lived, let's be honest here. But I still watched all the episodes because I liked it anyway, and loved Nick and Alex. Nick in particular with all the angst he brought. The real low point of the show - in addition to the weak plots and less-than-stellar special effects, mind - was Derek Rayne. OMG he was so fucking bad! I'm still traumatised by the guy, and I'm not the only one, mention the name to Babycakes, and see what happens.
3- Charmed? This series is... there are so many thing to say about it, so many occasions to point and laugh and so many reasons to roll your eyes and sigh, but despite all that, I find myself watching it every single time it airs again, no exception. It's like a compulsion... or a very bad habit, I'm not exactly sure which lol
4- Kung Fu: the Legend Continues is another of those series I see as bad because you had to suspend your beliefs about a lot of things while watching it - constituencies and the like - but I loved it - and would love to see it again as it happens - because of Peter and the father-son relationship. I seriously did enjoy that series for the angst, the past trauma, the insecurities and all that. The father-son dynamic was really great, as was the foster father-son one. Somehow I feel almost bad for including it in the list because I do love it a lot, but honestly... it sorta qualifies.
5- Touched by an Angel, maybe. I tried to hide the fact that I watched it once - hey, I was younger and all. I mean it's so fucking cheesy, so corny it could be considered as a lethal weapon. But here again, I watch it all the time.
turps33 - Top Five Kinks
1- Spanking! When everything has been said and done, it's the spanking that gets to me each and every time. Apart from the incredible hotness of it all, it's another of those Trust moments that is, actually, hot in and of itself. The bottom - pun a tiny bit intended - has to trust the top not to hurt him because everything that belongs t o the realm of BDSM can turn ugly real quick if it's not handled carefully - and respectfully, ie the bottom also needs to trust that their partner will still respect him in the morning so to speak. Spanking can be a bit tricky after all, considering how it's usually associated with childish behaviour and the like. It can be damaging, not just physically but mentally too, as usually with BDSM. Anyway, it's always a matter of trust between the partners and I just love power exchange in general, and the spanking is just perfect in my eyes. So the bottom puts his trust in their partner's hands - damn, those puns are a load of fun - to be able to really let go and when they do... it's hot and sexy and sensual beyond the telling of it.
Having said that, I'm also a fan of DD fics - Domestic Discipline - gen or slash, and here we leave the realm of sexual and hot, it's different altogether. I just love spanking fics, period. And don't start with the 'OMG DD is evil and abusive and InsertCharacters wouldn't do that' because it's getting so old. Also, just because I love reading about it doesn't mean I believe in it in RL - actually, it doesn't mean anything one way or the other. I just enjoy that theme. If you don't... well it's not a problem for me, so why should my liking it be one for you?
2- Gang-bang, of the consensual persuasion. Threesome or moresome, but let's keep it simple, in a threesome? I love nothing more than the bottom being taken from both ends: one lover fucking his ass, the other his mouth. Bottom Guy wants it and his men give it to him good, they all let it go and wow, it's a thing of beauty. There's grunting and groaning and moaning, there're hair grasping and hips holding and hard thrusting... and maybe there's even raspy encouragement and hey, why not some dirty talk and just *THUD*
3- Collared boys. The whole BDSM - from soft to hardcore - works perfectly well as far as I'm concerned, but I'm trying to go for some specifics here. So the collar? Totally does it for me. Wrists cuffs and, wait, all signs of ownership: tattoos, brands, they work too, oh boy do they ever. And piercings, and leather binding wrapped around the arms - and/or thighs etc - which we don't get to see enough - another reason why I love
maaaaa's stories so much, incidentally. All those subtle or blatant signs that someone is owned by their lover. Oh and if aforementioned - proud - owner wants to display their lover? Even better *glassy eyes*
4- Fisting because it's so very intimate and it demands such an amount of trust and care and when it's done right, wow it's mind-blowing to read about.
5- Here I'm going for a different kind of kink, ie my love for dark themes: non-con, rape, mental and/or physical abuse and so on and so forth. And no, it doesn't mean I find rape hot - I happen to think it's rather offending that anyone can even think I do. Tons of people are into CSI or L&O... which depict awful and violent and deshumaninsing murders. I don't think those fans would take it kindly if anyone suggested murder turned them on or suggested that they were secretly condoning murderers... well, I don't see why it should be any different here. I do get that people are appalled and squicked re: rape stories, I just don't like the dissing that goes with it, is all. Or else, diss everyone who likes those gritty and violent cop shows as well, and the fics that go with them *shrug*
I love those delicate and difficult themes because of the intensity they bring to the story, because they tell the story of people who went through horrible and traumatising events but were strong enough to survive and go on with their lives. The dark theme brings the comfort but it reaches some new high... and of course some of those stories are 100% gratuitous, well you find good and bad fics in every genre, how come some people are surprised that this genre has both as well?
french_hobbit - Top Five Mysteries in Lost
1- Where the fuck is Rose! So I now know there's apparently been some trouble in paradise with the actress but what about the character. Just because they're - eventually - at odds with their cast, TPTB should at least try to mention a little something about the character's whereabout. Like, 'You can't see Rose because she's sleeping' 'You can't see Rose because she's building a boat out of a coconut' 'You can't see Rose because she's meditating', just something!
2- Why is the Fake French Woman fake! Couldn't they find a French actress to play the role? Or a woman who could at least do the accent?
What? Of course they are Lost Mysteries! Damn, you're picky. Okay so what about those:
3- Who exactly is Alex? Or what, if Danielle is totally crazy and can't make a difference between what is real and what isn't.
4- What is in the damn hatch?
5- What is the deal with the Survivors... is Fate really fucking up with them? Were they chosen for real? Is it the biggest and stupidest coincidence ever that they all have something special in their past?
misanthrope7842 - Top Five Jim/Blair Sentinel Moments
1- I'll have to go with being quite predictable I'm sure but, well, the Fountain scene is #1. More precisely the moment when Jim goes crazy. I mean, technically the whole merging of souls and Jim bringing Blair to life should be first but it's second because somehow, Jim's despair always punches me in the gut so it's first in the list. The guy everyone usually takes for Mr Stoic is totally losing it because he can't accept hislover best friend's death and just, that moment... kills me each time! His screams and his desperate attempt at going back to Blair with Simon and Brown restraining him... man, that scene is fucking beautiful! It gets to me each.and.every.time.
2- As does, like I said, thesexing merging of spirit happily ending with Blair being brought back to life. Because if that's not one of the most intimate scenes without anyone taking off their clothes and getting it on in front of anyone else, I don't know what it is *cough*
3- The craddling scene in "Blind Man's Bluff" - dude! I'm so original, aren't I? - because it's sweet and intense and it has worried!Jim and hurt!Blair. Can't go wrong with that!
4- The breakfast scene in "The Debt". I have a huge domestic!kink as far as those two are concerned and I can't get enough of them interacting within the confines of their home. I chose that one in particular because it was the very first domestic scene we got to see - first of a long series - and I love how comfortable they are together already... for two guys who're supposedly eating breakfast together for the first time... I think they seem quite cozy, comfortable with each other and with each other's spacewhich, in fact, is one of the main proofs that they started fucking early on... as in, right after the first meeting? Yeah.
5- Fishing scene at the beginning of "Poachers" - plus I have the "little guppy" reference. So.cute *g*
yami_tai - Top Five Fangirly Moments
Hey Tai, I started answering your first Top Five, then realised it was entering the realm of too personal - not too personal for you, but too personal for my public LJ - and decided to go with the second choice, which was quite cool *g*
1- I'll include my meeting with you and Matt as one of those because it was so good! I fangirl that meeting to this day lol
2- The SC Con I intended in Paris, do I even need to explain why? First con ever! Amanda Tapping! Michael Shanks! Christopher Judge! And
alinewrites and her daughter, too! Yeap, wonderful time, that was *happy sigh*
3- My meeting with Garett Maggart because OMG Blair! Only not because, you know, Garett Maggart but squeee! And shorthair!GM too *swoons*
4- Another fangirly moment would be when I discovered 852 Prospect because... it was like heaven that discovery and I'm still fangirling that archive so yeah, fangirly moment, even if it sounds odd.
5- And I'm having trouble with #5 because I realise most of what I do on-line is actually worthy of being called a Fangirly Moment... I sorta enter fangirl mode a lot, you know? So I don't know what to pick last... and in order not to miss anything, I'll just leave it blank, which is such a huge cope out I should be ashamed and all.
And since I rambled quite a bit, er, maybe I'll stop now *cough*
And today being Friday also means that tomorrow is Sci-fi Saturday, yay! I fucking can't wait for "Avalon" pt 2 *hugs self* As well as "Valley of Darkness" *bounces*

Date: 2005-07-22 09:19 pm (UTC)And I totally understand you about Charmed! I never thought it was a good series, but I've watched many episodes of it and if I see it on TV I feel kind of compelled to watch it. Weird.
And I'm (again!)right there with you about the hotness of threesome/dirty-talking/spanking/ownership marks. *wistful sigh* Now I need a fic...

Date: 2005-07-22 11:07 pm (UTC)(Which speaks more about my tastes at the time, I suspect...) On the other hand, I can't recall even one character name. I could also be confusing it with Millennium - not completely confusing it, mind, as I am aware they were two different series, but it's probably Millennium that I remember as being good.
To this day I wonder how I could watch the famous spirit merging on TS and not have at least one little tiny naughty thought...

Date: 2005-07-23 10:46 am (UTC)Wost Series
Date: 2005-07-23 01:34 am (UTC)Sunset Beach: I admit, I watched that soap mainly because it was an Aaron Spelling production and his son could not act to save his life. Then he went blind and I was hooked. Funny how that happens, huh?
Charmed--I watch it alot now, not so much in the beginning. I think the whole "kill of Shannon's character" really turned the tide of my viewing in its favor.
KF:TLC--I watched for Kermit, seriously and devotedly. However, I accidentally found slash stories in the fandom and it kinda weirded me out, but I can't NOT think about it now. Come on! A fandom that has a Kermit MPREG (which I am re-reading as we speak because you reminded me of the fandom again;) and a zine series called Hop on Pop? That's fine quality!
Touched by an Angel--Again, randomly watched it, but I did make it a point to watch everytime Randy Travis was on there (I even got one of his episodes on tape for Christmas from my Grandma) AND the crossover series that they did for 3 eps with Promised Land where Josh travelled with Monica because she was blind and then she got her sight back and Josh went blind! "Amazing Grace" was the first episode in that series. And I just proved I know way too much about this show.
Re: Wost Series
Date: 2005-07-23 10:53 am (UTC)Charmed: I've been watching it from the pilot... each time, wondering why I was still watching while making sure I wasn't missing the latest episode. Damn, they're good lol I also loved the whole Chris arc in the latest season... or it was the latest aired in France, I suppose you're a season ahead in the US atm.
Peter was what kept me hooked on KF:TLC. Peter was your Kermit lol Considering I'm into incest, the slash I read over there wasn't exactly the kind you freely talk with people *cough* As for slash with Kermit - and Peter - I don't think I ever really found one. Not that I looked hard, maybe. And Kermit MPREG? Damn... too bad the story hasn't Peter included in the pairing, cause I would have read that *eg*
And I just proved I know way too much about this show.
And I feel better now, so thanks lol
Re: Wost Series
Date: 2005-07-23 11:13 am (UTC)Yep. One half-season, which is exactly what I predicted. I am so good;)
I also loved the whole Chris arc in the latest season... or it was the latest aired in France, I suppose you're a season ahead in the US atm.
Yeah...well, no...I think that was 2 seasons ago (ponders) It's definitely getting better and better, though I keep wondering "will this be the last season?"
Damn... too bad the story hasn't Peter included in the pairing, cause I would have read that
Well, he's "in" the story...though his father's got a more prominent role. And just in case you wanna see: http://mpreg.brain-insane.com/kungfu/comingtoterms.html

1- Eeeee! That was such a fantastic day *reminisces*!
2- I can only imagine how exciting this would be... because I've never been to a con ^^;!
3- *grins* It is always so exhilarating to meet someone famous that you really like. I loved spending time with Douglas Adams ^_^!
4- I have a couple of GW archives that I felt like that about. I don't read much GW now but I would definitely visit those sites even now to read fics.
5- I can understand that, although I did wonder if you would mention your brush with the Spiderman cast ^_~!
Thanks for sharing *hugs*!

Date: 2005-07-23 08:10 pm (UTC)2- Dude it was so wonderful! And not even just meeting with the cast, but the atmosphere itself, being in the middle of so many fangirls and fanboys? Gives quite an intensity to the whole event.
5- I couldn't put them all or else I would have included that one too lol In particular since it was totally by accident and all. Man, just thinking about it makes me bounce on my seat lol
