YAY!! This morning I received some great news from Babycakes. Hey, Babycakes, I couldn't reply but I sure did get it! And as soon as you sent it, too. Yeap, I was awake. Well, unwillingly, as you can imagine lol

Anyway, I bounced and bounced because I really thought it would never happen! But it's true! We're going to have some Starbucks in Paris!! OMG! I'm so impatient, now!! In 2004, uh? YAY again! I am so going to get addicted to that place! They'd better not mess with it, cos I idealized the thing.

As weird as it may sound, I really started to pay attention to those Starbucks thanks to an XF fic. Then, I realized we could see Starbucks just about all the time in US movies! Well, maybe not allthe time, but really, we can see them a lot. Well, I see them a lot! *pout*

Anyway, I thought it was really cool, so of course, I talked about it to [livejournal.com profile] babycakesin, because this is just what I do, talk about my obsessions to the poor girl all the time. And I started to dream about it. Well, don't ask me why, but there's just something about this coffee shop that really appeals to me *shrug* Try living in a country when they never ever heard about it, and you'll see why it seemed so cool to me, too.

Well, to make a long story short : Starbucks are opening in Paris in 2004!!

Don't worry, the 'poor girl' is handling your obsessions really well lol (Hey, I gave you the Starbucks stuff I got in Vienna, didn't I?) Oh, and you know what? It will be set in the 'quartier de l'Opéra', and it will have internet access for people who come with their laptops!!! *bounces* I'm so dragging you there next year! I'll take Linus, so that we can post on LJ from Starbucks *g*

it's okay - but that girl's LJ is sooo depressing, and only updated once a month or something - so NOT me! lol

Yeah I know, I checked it out of course, couldn't resist, and it's kinda depressing, indeed. I hope I won't mispell the thing again. Wouldn't want to link to her lj again!

it's okay, you can count on me to point it out if it happens again - the mistake could be offensive lol

I'm smiling because here in the states, the opening of a Starbucks in your neighborhood is usually greeted with scowls of annoyance. Starbucks is the first sign of the yuppification of an area, a process that usually drives property taxes sky high. It also often chases small coffee houses and shops out of business. And yet, we love our Starbucks at the same time. Coffee has become almost a religion over here.

Wow, really? I didn't know that lol Well, I don't see it happening in France, at least atm, since it's going to be fairly new, so...

I just hope I'll like it as much as I think I will *g*

If it's the way it is here, you prolly will. The coffee is v. strong and rich. However it's also pricey.

Man, this takes me back.

When we first met I told you that I'd been to a Starbucks, and we had to lol as we were reading BSG at the time.

Ah but Starbucks, too expensive, over comercialised but so damn good. Their frappachinos are to die for...and now I really want one. I blame you Mouse!

Oh you're going to be my savior! When I was writing this post, I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the XF fic I was mentioning! lol So, what was the title of the fic, sis, please?

And yeah, it takes us back, doesn't it? *g* Ah, sweet memories!

Blame all you want, at least there're Starbucks in your country! Well, if everything goes according to plan, in mine too, soon *g*

I sort of remember that x-files fic, just trying to remember the name. As I'm going through my files I'll look, and hopefully remember myself.

Also, I made James take me to Starbucks today, I've been craving their coffee since your post. I'm so weak :(

Being weak can be a good thing, in particular if it makes Jim take you to Starbucks lol
