I did what I had to do today... I think I need a reward. Hmm what could it be? Oh I know! I should buy myself TTT EE *g* I'll see about that tomorrow. And for now, well I'll just read slash, of course!

Speaking of reading, I finished Behind Bars last night. I left [livejournal.com profile] rhiannon_jehane before 1.00 a.m because I wanted to try and resume a normal sleep pattern again, and I made the mistake of opening the book. Didn't stop until I finished it. As a result, went to sleep past 3.00 a.m. *snort* So much for nice and normal sleep pattern!

Anyway, it was good. Thank you thank you [livejournal.com profile] alinewrites for lending it to me *g* My favourite two chapters are #6 and #10. The sixth because it talks about 'sex in the slammer', and was pretty fascinating, and the tenth because it puts you in the position of one of the convicts and gives you your schedule for the day ('A Day in the Life of Joe Convict') and is pretty scary.

Also, I learnt some really interesting expressions: Sex in the Slammer:

- june bug : submissive prisoner used by others.
- butched in : forced to perform oral sex.
- family style : sodomy in the missionary position.
- galboy : passive partner in a homosexual relationship.
- gumbie : a male tranvestite or transgendered.
- flip flop : to change place during intercourse (here sodomy).
- moe : a homosexual prisoner who is married.
- old lady : submissive partner in a male homosexual relationship.
- pole smoker : male homosexual.
- turned out : used to describe a straight male who is used for homosexual sex.

Okay, it was a little longer than what I thought, and since it's sorta sexually oriented *cough* I put it behind the infamous tag.

The glossary is actually several pages long and covers everything dealing with life in prison, but I thought the pervies in my flist would appreciate the more sexual ones, so there.

Seriously now, the book was really interesting, pretty fascinating and pretty scary as well. It's just surreal this society within society - how can someone keeps totally sane after several years in the joint is beyond me. Sure, it depends on the facility but still. So much violence is also totally alien to me, I just don't understand it, and really... life inside is just so fucking frightening! From an anthropological point of view, it's absolutely fascinating though *shudder* What we see in movies is nice, but man... so far away from the truth! I think Oz is the only show which shows so much of the reality of prison life. Pretty interesting comparing the book and the show actually.

Anyway, it was good.

Ooh, must use these! Somehow. Don't know too many prison stories other than Oz, and I'm so out of the loop with that series. *sigh*

Must remember these, v. interesting. ;)

They're great, uh? There're lot more, but I thought the sexually ones were really... interesting for us all lol

And Hail to Oz, even though it's only aired on the cable here (which I don't have of course). Oh, and the DVDs still haven't been released here either. Thank God for burnt CDs and other tapes though*eg*

Thanks for the new vocabulary words *snicker* will deffinatlly have to use a few of those in my next Oz fic. And your very right Oz is as close to the truth as you get in movies and tv. And to be truthful if I was locked up I would go crazy, you don't take a pee without someone watching, not to mention all the restrictions and stuff. I'll have to look for that book, it sounds intresting.

On another note I read my first STARGATE SG1 today and I just wanted to thank you for writing such a great story, I was kind of iffy on reading STARGATE SG1 fics, namely because I have way to many fandoms I try to keep up with...oh well add another to the list.

I really got engrossed in the reading. It's written in a very fun style, as in the authors actually talk to *you*. It makes the thing so much more personal, and gives a more intense feeling to it. The authors are Jeffrey Ian Ross and Stephen C. Richards, in case you wanted to check the thing more seriously *g*

Thank *you* for the wonderful comment *g* I'm so glad you liked it- even more so since it was your first SG story *g* Could I know which story it was exactly? This is me being nosy, sorry lol

And yeah, tell me about having too many fandoms to keep up with! lol That's our burden, us fandom junkies! *sigh*

Again, thank you for the lovely feedback *g*

The book very interesting -the schedule, the lockdowns, the shakedowns...

as for the vocabulary, the problem is that Oz has its own one. "Prag" for example... And Toby's generally referred to as Chris' girlfriend; his bitch. (which is obviously wrong, in their case; I doubt that Toby only plays one part here).

Yes, I kept looking for 'prag' but never found it. I guess Oz has to have its own quirks *g*

I'll send the book back... and I didn't forget I had to send more TS tapes. Of course, now, I forgot what you told me about the last episode you saw, sorry. And about the Oz CDs... can I keep them a little longer, or do you want them back as well?

I think the term prag may be a motin picture thing, I've heared the term prag used in quite a few movie and shows. Or it could have been old slang in actual prison, just like us on the outside we have words that we use one day and think their so cool, and then the next day it's a new word.

keep the Oz cds! And don't worry for the book, I read it already.

Sentinel? Last one I saw was "vow of silence" but it doesn't matter! any ep. will do. I'd use some TS fix.
