Okay, didn't have the best of night and still not feeling that well BUT I had one hell of a wonderful surprise this morning :
IT SNOWED DURING THE NIGHT!
It's all white! Oh man, it's so beautiful! So it snowed twice yesterday after all, once during the day, and another time during the night. Wow!
Me soooooo happy!
Also, I watched TTT:EE yesterday, plus some extras and OMG!
I admit that I put Disc2 first, and went straight to the extended scenes, with Scene 41 in priority *g* Sorry, couldn't resist. Plus, I was sick and everything, so I needed a good Faramir fix.
THE scene was just so wonderful! I knew it would be good, but it was so much better! Poor Faramir! The scene with his father in RoTK was bad enough, but somehow I hadn't seen anything yet. Sons of the Steward blew me away - woohoo! What makes that particular scene somehow more difficult to witness is that we really get to realize the contrast between Denethor's love and respect for Boromir, and his content and indifference for Faramir. I mean, we knew how he felt toward his younger son thanks to the scene in RoTK (for those who never read the books, I mean), but here we really see the extent of his scorn for Faramir, and it was so painful to see! Definitely good, in a angsty kinda way, of course *eg* Denethor, you're such a bastard! And you're so blind, I feel sorry for you, really.
Fortunately, it was sorta counter-balanced by Boromir's show of love for his brother, and his need to protect him against their father's verbal assault. We got to see Boromir's love for Faramir, and I enjoyed it immensely. I love this line: "You never give him any credits, and yet he always tries to do your will" or something like that. I just love the way he's so upset and refuses to let his father get away with demeaning his brother, even though he knows well that it won't change anything. Still, he refuses not to say anything. That was great! I loved Boromir even more with that scene *g*
And the scenes just before and after Denethor's interference? The way Faramir runs toward his brother at the end of the speech, or the look they exchange just before Boromir leaves? Theirloveissopureandbeautifulandsoincesty! They love each other, it literally exudes from them! Beautiful to watch!
Another moment I loved is when Sam says to Faramir how he showed them "his quality". I thought it was pretty powerful this moment. After all, that's what Faramir wanted, to show his quality to his father, and in doing so he would have done something pretty bad, sending the ring to him and everything. Then he refuses, and thanks to Sam he realizes he did show his quality after all. I just loved that.
Although... like I said, I watched some of the extras, and apparently they changed Faramir's role a lot from the books to the movies? Like in reality, he did refuse to touch the ring, no matter what, saying something like, "I wouldn't touch that thing even if was laying on the wayside"? If it's true, wow... book!Faramir is one strong man!
So, speaking of the extras. I started with From Book to Script: Finding the Story, and I had the nice surprise to see they talked about Faramir and that DW was here as well *g* He looks so sweet! No really. He's quiet and talks softly... I just adore him! It was the first time I got to see DW, ya know. So far, I only knew Faramir, and I only 'knew' DW through pics, so it was nice change.
Oh, forgot Scene 40 - Window to the West? When we see Faramir having this dream about Boromir's death. It was heartbreaking too. And I love mystical!Faramir. Plus, I could only imagine how hard it was for him... to 'feel' things so deeply.
Anyway, I need to watch all the extras. Do we get to see DW again?
Now, about the other extended scenes. Man, they were so worth the wait! It must be torture to have to cut them, and how do they decide which one to cut, anyway? It would be like cutting my arm, I swear! Sure, they knew they'd be able to show them on the DVD, but still.
Apart from Scene 41, I don't really know which one of the other scenes was my favorite, they were all pretty good! lol I really liked the ones at the end of the movie - they made me laugh. Merry and Pippin in Sauruman's storeroom for instance, or Legolas and Gimli's banter about how many orcs they killed. Although 'banter' isn't quite the word I was thinking about, I was thinking more about 'foreplay', cos those two - they're so doing it!
Anyway, to make a long story short, I did take my time to purchase TTT:EE, but it was SO worth the wait! I love my new boxset to death!! *schnuzzles DVDs*
Hail to TTT:EE!

Hail to TTT:EE!
total squeeeee mode
Date: 2004-01-27 03:23 am (UTC)did you see THE scene?! I think that in the movie EE it makes Faramir even greater because we see right away how much the ring means to his father, and YET he doesn't take it, although it would have brought to him his father's respect (if not love). Faramiiiiiiiiir! (ps: that's when my mom made fun of me btw)
He really looks sweet, doesn't he? In RL I mean.
Oh The Hug! The words! Oh, and Boromir, at the beginning, when he repeats 'For Gondor!' three times, I had goosebumps! *schnuzzles Boromir* and see how he didn't want to go and leave his brother? *tears in eyes* and they never saw each other again *cries*
oh and the vision! *sobs* And when Boromir sees his father and looks unhappy about his presence! (take that, bastard!) And what he says about Faramir! *melts*
must stop crying - that's what angst is made of. Now if you'll excuse me, must go read again!

Date: 2004-01-27 09:00 am (UTC)Okay my little let's put (here) with the link in it doesn't work so you get the whole thing but... here are a few places I found with VM/SB. No luck really with DW. I don't know why.
http://www.digitalcandy.net/~cinzia/Stories.htm lots there
http://ca.geocities.com/jennandanica/contents.html here as well but some of the stories also just looked interesting.
You know I went through 40 pages of results and so few were decent. There were more links but I started reading a few and they were soooo bad. lol. I still have an innumerable amount of pages to go through when I get the time again. I hope at least one of those are good!

Date: 2004-01-27 10:09 am (UTC)There was one that had all the makings of being a great story, with Lijah tied to a car, but it was so horrid. Ehhh.
