Sep. 4th, 2004 05:53 pmI always thought that one sure way to get lots of comments on one of your entries was to state that you'd just gone on an unfriending spree [or is it defriending? Ooops, don't remember the correct term, bad Mouse *sigh*] and that really, it's nothing personal and you respect everyone you unfriended and you're so sorry if you hurt their feelings but it had to be done - usually, you'll have all tons of replies afterward since people have big issues with this whole friending/unfriending policy, which I don't obviously, and which is why I may sound sarcastic here *cough*
Anyway, I accidentally found another way last night with my last post - so yeah, sorry for saying something that was oh so casual to me, but ended up having some strong potential for misunderstanding! lol
Now and because it feels like a long time since I mentioned it - I saw that new pairings had been added at
ship_manifesto yesterday, including Tatsumi/Tsuzuki which amused me to no end since I was just talking with someone about that essay, and Ben/Michael. Truth is, I was tempted to do that one myself, but I took the fact that someone already claimed it as a sign that I should remain a reader over there as opposed to a writer *g* And I also saw Joe/Billy thrown in the midst, should be interesting too - in a twisted kinda way, a la Beecher/Keller *nodnod*
Hey you know how lot of people are always dissing their own fics and explaining how their stories suck and that they're sure no one will like them and whatnot? Well I'm not like that and I'm usually satisfied or downright happy with my fics - not that I think they are good, but it's just that I at least like what I did with them most of the time - everyone else may end up disliking or hating them, but I'll be my own fan so to speak, know what I mean?
Anyway, I was working on my site this morning and re-coding some of my stories and I ended up re-reading "Falling" and know what? Damn but I love that story! lol It's rather dark, painful at times and pretty twisted... but I still wrote an open and sorta-hopeful ending, so I can read it without feeling too bad for what I made Jim and Blair do to each other *eg* I think the next time I'm asked to rec one of my own fics, I'll include that one and the prequel... I can't remember whether I did it the last time, you know with the meme where we had to name some of our own favourite stories?
And okay, what brought this egotistical comment? lol Well... nothing exactly - just, I was re-coding the story and thinking I'd done a nice job with it, and then I read
lornelover's lovely post where she was saying that my Breaking Point: Silence story - which incidentally is a story I'm damn proud of - had been rec'ced at
stargateficrec (thank you Stacy *g*) and how she'd read and liked it and my inner-writer was just in a very happy place *g* Since I don't think we get enough positive thoughts on LJ about people and their own writing, as in people usually diss their work and can't help doubting their abilities to do great stuff, I decided I would bring some positivity, so there lol
And finally, I've been 'asked' to pimp a new comm, so here
anth_mona : the girl is apparently doing a research project on 'fan communities on the internet' and she needs lots of people from as many fandoms as possible. HP and LoTR are apparently over-represented compared to all the others, so some of you people could check it out and add your own to the list, if you're interested that is *g*

Date: 2004-09-04 11:02 am (UTC)Always glad to see new people passing by - in particular when they seem to share my slash love *eg*
Love your user info.
Thanks *beams* I'll admit I'm rather proud of it. It's shiny and slashy and did I mention slashy? I think I did lol
I also slash Atlantis even though I haven't been speaking about it in quite some time, I'll admit - that being said, what don't I slash, really? lol

Date: 2004-09-04 11:15 am (UTC)I'm a slasher through and through myself --with like 2% of gen reader, admittedly *g* And yes, Jack/Daniel is definitely at the top of the list, right next to Jim/Blair --can't not mention those two, sorry lol-- and I'm always proud of my pairing when I see shippers like yourself see their hotness, because that's like the ultimate compliment, right? *is proud*

Date: 2004-09-04 04:55 pm (UTC)The problem is that the consensus seems to be on the negative side as opposed to the positive one. I don't count the times when I read something like 'My story sucks, you'll hate it' and all its some variations right before the story was linked. I dare say I almost never see a writer talks with pride about their own stories, are they afraid they'll be seen as pompous or some shit like that? Same thing with people who suddenly tell you they're going to stop writing just because someone writes so much better than them - what's the big deal? We're all in this for fun, we're not paid, we don't get a salary, it's a hobby, no one is supposed to be a genius at a hobby.
Sometimes it feels like people feel the need to say stuff like that just to have their work validated afterward *ponders*
