Sep. 17th, 2004 12:23 amI know that a lot of people look down at TV reality shows and really, I can't fault them because I happen to agree with them about the stupidity of most if not all of those programs and the stupidity of the participants as well, but it usually doesn't stop me from watching them anyway *shrug* I don't watch all of them, but I sure pick some - which in turn drives Babycakes crazy, the girl usually forbids me to even mention them in her presence lol
Anyway, all that to say that Le Pensionnat de Chavagnes [Pensionnat being French for boarding school] cracks me up, seriously! I'm watching it every Thursday and I'm definitely having fun. It's just funny to see those fifteen-year-old guys and girls going through the school system of the 50's and living - well trying to at least - by the same rules our parents lived by then - can you say conflict of generations? And how cute do they look in their little uniforms and blouses, seriously? lol And I think I just love the whole old-fashioned atmosphere.
One thing is really obvious when you watch that TV reality show - students in 2004 really have no idea of what "discipline" or "respect" mean *cringe* Not that it's anything new, mind you. Though most of the 24 students do play the game and try to follow the rules, granted - in today's episode the Math teacher said that most of them did behave like students in the fifties did. I bet they'll need a little time to 'come back' to year 2004 when the show will be over *g*
Anyway...
Today was fairly quiet which was really cool. I took advantage of my having some time for myself to code new challenges for ST - yes, will wonders ever cease lol
And I also got S1 Pt1 of Angel - for 20€ only, which was really cool since the DVD box sets usually cost around 50€! Thank you for not so small miracles *hugs shiny and oh so very cheap DVDs*
On some TS news, the ballots have been posted for the Light My Fire Awards. I recognised some people from my flist, so congrats to you all *waves* After seeing the names of the nominees, I can safely say that I don't regret not being there, pfew! lol It's not going to be easy making a choice either... I'll have to think carefully.
Oh and speaking of thinking carefully - I just had an idea for the latest challenge at
sentinel_thurs - the challenge that was posted like not even two hours ago, and this is so typical it's not even funny! Why is it typical? Because of course my muses had to give a new plot bunny now that I'm supposed to work on my
sentinelsecrets challenge! *shakes head*
And finally... about the premiere of Darklight with no other than our Richard Burgi and David Hewlett - oh okay, and John de Lancie and Shiri Appleby - tomorrow? I'd like to know what's the deal with this 'World premiere' thing they mentioned. I mean... were they, you know, playing with the concept of the story of the movie itself? Because if that was an official announcement... well, the world really shrank and I didn't notice *blink* Do they always do that, too?

Date: 2004-09-16 05:19 pm (UTC)Oh, me and girlie HAVE to watch this.
Brain go BOOOOOM!
And yeah, Sci-Fi seems to be under the misapprehension that they invented... well, everything they air. They continually bill SG-1 as "a sci-fi original," conveniently forgetting the five-year run it had on Showtime.

Date: 2004-09-18 04:19 am (UTC)So it's their MO? Sci-fi really has a big ego *shakes head* But I think the 'world premiere' thing is just over the top and when I say OTT, what I mean, is really stupid lol

Date: 2004-09-18 03:51 pm (UTC)Yeah... *laughs* It's annoying as fuck. But they're sci-fi and they give me pretty, pretty 'Gate and 'Scape and all, so I
don't complaincomplain, but really shouldn't. :pno subject

Date: 2004-09-16 10:06 pm (UTC)i'd be curious to know what sort of background the students have, though ... i'm sure there is the token "ZUP beurette" or something ... but still ... anyway. there is no stopping M6 on the way to trash tv, it seems! (and no stopping our interest in it! lol)

Date: 2004-09-17 06:48 am (UTC)I'd like to say it's not true, but it is lol (and believe me, I've been trying to make up something against that!)
But I think I would have like to watch Le pensionnat de Chavagne.
Are you still here? I mean, I've heard a lot about it, and just out of curiosity, I would... have... liked... *head bursts into flame*
oh, who am I kidding, this is useless: I've heard extracts and those brats would have had been cringing in 2 seconds - but I like that idea, much much better than The Other RealTV shows you usually mention (and you love it when my head bursts into flame at the mention of it, don't you? you sadistic brat... *giggles*)
