No Fair last night, but I still got ice-cream. Geek Night + Ice cream = a very happy Mouse.

So. I thought I would start replying to the questions I got and er, of course, my answers got longer than planned. I'm sorry, I tried to be concise... and this is what my mind apparently sees as concise *cough* Did I say I was sorry?

Because he does suffer beautifully and because he usually bottoms and that's important in my world, you know? And because there's no real hang up in this fandom about Jim going all possessive and protective on his sweet ass and calling him 'baby' or stuff and this is also something I adore - in particular when we're talking serious angst or h/c. With Daniel, I can't have all that because the SG fandom has Issues with Daniel-being-seen-as-weak-even-when-he's-not and I can't have all the slash components I do get with TS. And anyway, even if I were to do that? I'm sure I would still get Daniel now and then because, xover much? *g*

french_hobbit: Well if you were talking about this week's episode, I'll have to admit that I already saw the preview so I can't dream of anything per se, since I already know some stuff... but let's extrapolate and think of next-next week... and my reply will be: more Charlie - more Jack/Charlie and more Charlie-Hurley. OH! And for Rose to appear... just once! Even for just a second, but I fucking want to see Rose! As for plots in particular... more traumatised!Charlie? What? Of course it's a plot! And ultimately, I would love for one of the survivors to listen to False French Woman and suddenly go But... she's not French, guys. WTF? That would make me so very happy.

x5_536: Because you'll regret it all your life if you don't? Yeah okay, why would you regret it all your life if you didn't. Well, first, it makes math beautiful and it also makes you feel like you're uber-smart because you end up nodding at everything Charlie says as if you did understand everything he's rambling about, and you know, just for that it's worth giving it a try. Also because, see, it's not really a cop show per se, it's much more than that, it's a little gem hidden under the disguise of yet a new cop show. Because it has some kick-ass characters with some of the best interactions ever. Because the family dynamic is a joy to see. Because it mixes case scenes with domestic scenes in a beautiful way and because watching the Eppes family together is a sight to behold. Because it has geniuses who live in their heads and the glimpses you get into their world is fascinating. Because it has some awesome visual effects which makes the scenes and the explanations so much move lively and interesting. Because it's a smart show with endearing and loveable characters who all kick asses in their own way, and who wouldn't want that? Also, because if said characters are all brilliant on their own, once put together they're the best team in the world and you just don't want to miss a single episode because otherwise it makes you sad! Here's why.

No, I'm not pulling a Daniel on you, but I just don't know lol I never know how to answer those questions because I can't really ever mix fictional characters with RL and stuff... and also because each time someone starts a question with 'desert island', I automatically start to think of ways to leave the island, which usually defeats the purpose of the question. So in the same vein, I'd say MacGyver cause he would know how to build a boat out of a coconut and we could go back home in no time, there *g*

1. Well, if I were DESPERATE, I would have found the time to do it, but I still want to pimp Tracker to you, just because it's cheesy and funny and I feel so lonely (there's no 'fandom' per se...)

For the more 'mainstream' stuff, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Because Arthur and Ford go through many wacky and improbable adventures and it's one of the geek cult books of all the time, and it's funny as heck; and Ford/Arthur are rather easy to slash.

I know RL has been a major killer for me lately and I think that's the general concensis (whoa that is so spelled wrong! sorry!). If it's any consolation no one else on my flist realized it either. Too much going on in the world to remember everything : )

You know what? That birthday tool doesn't have you listed for me either so I have no idea when your birthday is. I don't understand why some peoples show up and others don't. It's just finicky I guess *shrugs*

In regards to posting more...

I know you don't mind if I don't post all the time, but I feel really bad about not posting more often. My RL has been hell (as you well know) for several months and things have really backslid for me, which frustrates the hell out of me. Whoever said you could get anything done while working night shift obviously hasn't worked it and I've been really unplugged from most things since the shift. I just am trying to get back on track.

Hmm that original J/D idea has multiplied into several other stories. I am writing like a fiend presently, which is great for me! : D
I'll be sure to send you a few snippets of stories if you're interested *bats eyelashes and grins impishly*

You have more books from him? Great! I wanted to ask someone who doesn't mind spoilers: Dream Boy - does it have at least a sort of happy end, a hopeful note or does it end in a completely depressing way? And do you have Winter Birds? The same question follows. *hopeful eyes*

Ah, Dream Boy. It's quite a dark place, that story, but the ending... well, I chose to see a hopeful note in it, to me, that's how it ends. The whole book is in pure Jim Grimsley style, languid and is told like a dream, almost. It's not a light story at all. I loved it, but I think it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. Not just because of the content but also because of the way it's told. But it's a wonderful book, IMHO.

Winter Birds now is wonderful too. It's sad in places because Danny's father isn't a good father and the family lives in fear or worry but since we know of the sequel, ie Comfort and Joy, it makes the whole story more hopeful, and when you read or go back to Comfort and Joy, it gives you great insight into Danny's character. Why he behaves that way etc...

And since we're on the subject, I'd rec Kirith Kirin too, by Jim Grimsley again - it's fantasy, wizards, mages, etc... Another great read *g* Well, I'm a huge fan of Jim Grimsley anyway lol
