Dec. 19th, 2003 08:25 pmI finally saw RoTK, guys! I am one happy camper *g*
The day didn't start well at *all*, though. Hmm how to put it nicely? See, I got sick, the Get-down-on-your-knees-bend-over-and-pay-tribute-to-the-porcelain-Gods kinda sick, know what I mean? I seriously thought I would be forced to stay home- I felt all wobbly. I also thought it was typical. I decide to skip school to go to the theater, and I'm sick *sigh*
But it passed *g* And I went to see RoTK *bigger grin*
What did I think of the movie? Easy : Fucking Wow! That's what I thought *g*
Okay, so I can be shallow as the next fangirl, ya know, and if you want to know what I think, well, no one should be allowed to be so pretty. I don't care that Legolas is an Elf, that's just almost indecent.
I always thought that if you were a hard core Legolas fan, you didn't have a lot of opportunities to get your Legolas fix during the different movies, but when he's here... well, you sorta see only him, you know? The Elf is so classy... so graceful, so noble, so ethereal. Yes, I love him to bit *g*
I have a question though, why don't Aragorn or Theoden or Gandalf ever use him as a *diversion*, as their secret weapon? I mean, seriously, Legolas would make the perfect distraction. See, if I were Aragorn, I would put my army behind me, and just *throw* Legolas at all the orcs. They would just need one look at him to forget all about Sauron or victory. What is loyalty to your Dark Lord when you're facing such a sweet little thing like Legolas? I just can see it, they would start to fight each other over the right to be first to fuck the pretty Elf, then they would fight each other for a second or third round, and during the mayhem, the good guys would just have to wander around the excited and/or sated orcs, and slaughter everyone.
I don't think you need to be a master strategist to think of *that* strategy! *shakes head*
Oh and the robe he wore at the very end? The sorta Chinese robe? Beautiful! Lots of people in the theater loved it, if the whispers I could hear at that moment were any indication *g*
Seriously now. Even though we don't get to see him a lot, Legolas is still one of my favorite characters. I just love the calm that exudes from him, his grace, the way he moves and the way he talks. He just seems so unreachable, and yet, he's so human... well, you know what I mean *g* I also really enjoy his banter with Gimli, and his friendship with Aragorn.
I already thought Eowyn was one strong woman in TTT. But in RoTK? She became my new goddess! She's such a *great* character! And yes, I'm talking about the movie, because apparently her role is definitely different in the books, but let me think of her in the *movie*, all right? Thank you kindly.
When we saw her going to war with all the warriors, I was already cheering like mad in my head, but when she actually *fought* the Witch King, I was totally gone on her! A woman was saving the day! A woman was doing what no other man was supposed to be able to do! I loved her line when she strikes the Nazgul for good, btw *g* I just loved that particular scene, it was *great*. Also, I really enjoyed when Merry helped her. Yeah, no man could defeat the Nazgul, but a woman and a halfling could. Great lesson in courage and dedication, that one *g*
Ah Faramir. I didn't dislike him at all in TTT, but I just didn't really feel anything for him. His role was nice, but I didn't feel pull toward him, if you see what I mean. But in RoTK, I just started to see him totally differently. He was *so* moving! I ached for him during the scene when we see him facing his father. I couldn't believe how cold and scornful his father was! Poor Faramir! I really liked every scene with him. Can't wait to see the movie again, actually *g* I also know that I'll see him differently when I'll watch TTT again.
I have to admit that Merry and Pippin were *brilliant* in RoTK too. I couldn't get enough of them. Together or separated, that is. They had really big parts, and I enjoyed them immensely. You go, guys! I was a tad surprised to see how deep their characters had become. That's also another thing I like in that trilogy, the evolution of the characters. In particular those who started as totally innocent like the Hobbits were. They were really moving- so brave, so loyal... I loved them!
I really *loved* that new installment. The battle scenes were amazing, and my poor heart almost didn't survive at times *g* I still love the way the characters interact between each other, and yeah, I thought the movie was pretty slashy, too! lol I have new pairings in mind, now *g* Although, even though I'm a slasher, and secretly love to think of Aragorn/Legolas, I adore Aragorn and Arwen's love story, and even the hard core slasher that I am cheered with the others at the hot and passionate kiss between them at the end *g* I won't *ever* read Het LoTR, never fear, but in the movie? It works for me *g*
Well, it was a tad longer than what I thought, but the movie was just *so* bloody good, I guess I got a little carried away *g* I'm really happy I went today, and didn't have to wait! Now, I hope
babycakesin will come for the 31st, and that we'll go and see it together like we said we would *g*

Date: 2003-12-19 11:34 am (UTC)Also, re: Eowyn, her role isn't that different in the books. The circumstances are a little different, in that she was supposed to be left where they stashed the women and children (which wasn't at Helm's Deep) but that's about it. She was still the one to cut the head off the flying thing that the Witch King was on, and she really did stab him after Merry buried his sword in the guy's leg.

Date: 2003-12-19 12:13 pm (UTC)So, like I said :
The 'chinese' robe will apparently stay in the memories of lots of people! lol But it's pretty understandable, really! Yummy!
As for Eowyn, well I'm relieved to hear that! I was afraid that when I would finally read the books, I wouldn't find anything of her, know what I mean? So, thanks for the news *g*

Date: 2003-12-19 03:09 pm (UTC)Such a great, great movie... I can't wait till the dvd box set comes out *grins*!
Ooh, you don't happen to know what Legolas said to Aragorn at the end, before Arwen appeared?? Cos they didn't translate the Elvish for us... of course, I would like to think that he was saying, Arwen is okay so you up for a threesome later, Aragorn... ^_~!!

Date: 2003-12-19 04:13 pm (UTC)Well oddly enough, they didn't translate that little bit of Elvish in French either. Those Elvish translations were peculiar actually, I mean, we had the French translation *and* the English one. I remember than for the first two movies, the English translations had been deleted, and we just had the French line...
What I love, is that they used a special font when they translated Elvish... that was pretty intelligent and thoughtful, I'd say!

Date: 2003-12-20 02:58 am (UTC)*grins* But how could we not?? Legolas looked absolutely stunning... Orlando Bloom is a very beautiful man :D!

Date: 2003-12-20 03:10 am (UTC)Yes, Legolas looked absolutely stunning, there's no other word for it. He must be one of the prettiest characters ever! And Orlando Bloom definitely is a beautiful man himself, that's right!
We shouldn't forget Arwen, because I'm always under her spell. She is *so* beautiful... I mean, I'm in love with her- through the three movies! There's something so alluring in the Elves. They did really good in portraying them! Be it Legolas or Arwen, or Galadriel and the like... OMG I so love that trilogy!
And Eowyn isn't bad at all either *fans self*

Date: 2003-12-20 04:07 am (UTC)No, I haven't found one like that yet *pouts*! But I have found two great Arwen / Eowyn icons... which I'm gonna email to you too as I think might make space for these *wicked grin*!!
Btw Galadriel is the woman for me, she is just so beautiful and graceful and I loved the scene where Frodo offers her the ring and we see her dark side *grins*!
edited: I've decided I prefer this icon out of the two :D!

Date: 2003-12-20 04:58 am (UTC)I received your icons, and yeah, they rock *g* I think I have a slight preference for the 'Girls have more fun' one *eg*
Oh yeah Galadriel- I remember how she scared me when we saw the dark side in her, wow!

Date: 2003-12-20 05:22 am (UTC)I will, don't worry *hugs*!
I think I have a slight preference for the 'Girls have more fun' one *eg*
*grins* It is a better motto, isn't it?! I just prefer the piccy on the other one :D!
Oh yeah Galadriel- I remember how she scared me when we saw the dark side in her, wow!
She scared the knickers off me too *grins*! I have a weakness for really strong or powerful characters, probably explains why I always prefer the seme characters, ne?!

Date: 2003-12-20 02:55 am (UTC)But sis, you should run the world having awesome plans like this
See, if I were Aragorn, I would put my army behind me, and just *throw* Legolas at all the orcs. They would just need one look at him to forget all about Sauron or victory. What is loyalty to your Dark Lord when you're facing such a sweet little thing like Legolas? That's brilliant! I'd fall for it for sure *g*
I'm so proud to know such a genius!

Date: 2003-12-20 03:04 am (UTC)You like my strategy too? Somehow, I'm not surprised. What I'm surprised about though, is that no one thought of *that* one! Dunno why, really *blink*
I'm so proud to know such a genius
Oh come on! *beaming*

Date: 2003-12-20 04:01 am (UTC)I love your strategy! Because, lets face it, who could resist Legolas?
*Basks in the glow of the genius*

Date: 2003-12-20 12:20 pm (UTC)Reasons why I would *not* come to your place:
1. am shagging Legolas
2. am shagging Aragorn
3. am shagging Faramir
4. am shagging all of the above
5. my very own Darcy showed up at my door and we're now shagging
and as much as I hate to admit it, chances for those reasons to happen are fairly low. Sooo... we'll see it together, sister, deal with it!
Eowyn: I loved her in the book, I even told you as I was reading it that I was hoping she would end up with her True Love (Aragorn). But seeing how she ends up with Faramir is more than nice (oh the scene when his father tells him that he wishes faramir had died instead of Boromir! *tears in eyes*) I fucking love them. And Merry and Pippin - but you got that from my own review I guess :P
I wish I was home to upload a faramir icon, damn it!

Date: 2003-12-20 01:44 pm (UTC)And no, I didn't read your review yet. I didn't want to get spoiled before so I didn't read it, and I sorta forgot afterward *cough* Thanks for reminding me *g*
I'm off to read it right now! Wanna know what you said about Merry and Pippin *g*
