Week of the Weird Pairings

Got my first medieval History class today, and I was surprised about how interesting the lesson was! I think I'm going to enjoy this course as well. I'm quite relieved, cos three hours in a row of a boring class? Not good for my sanity, man. Also, after 2h50 of hearing the teach talk to us about Paris in the 12-13-14th centuries, I was pretty proud of myself because, see, I didn't have one single fannish moment! And with those History classes, it's not easy for me. Well, anyway, I was thinking that maybe I would finally have an entire course where I'd stay totally focused and then bam! He said it - he talked about the Carolingiens and Mérovingiens, and before I knew it, I was having some really nice Matrix moments *sigh* Fortunately, the three hours were practically over. Damn. Maybe next time?

Now... something really weird.

See, I'm not into the HP fandom. I'm not. I only read HP slash because my best friend, aka babycakesin, knows about my tastes and sends me fics she thinks I'll like (and yeah, she knows me pretty well, so her recs are always really great). Anyway, in the past days, coming from nowhere, I started to have this curiosity for Snarry, aka Snape/Harry, so I read one, then two fics- ya know as an experiment. Yesterday I asked Babycakes to send me some new HP slash, and afterward, I had this urge, you know the one I'm talking about. And just a few minutes ago, I caved in *bows head* I downloaded around 15 Snape/Harry slash. That's not the worse. I started reading them *quivering lower lip* and I'm fucking enjoying them! *sob*

*pulls herself together* Don't get me wrong, I'm still a Remus/Sirius kinda gal, but then, their pairing is *so* canon... but apparently, I'm developing a liking to Snarry *sigh*

That's not the only weird thing that happened to me in the past days. Remember that I watched Weiss Kreuz (OVA) the other day, and that I fell in love with Ken and Omi? Sure, I love Aya because he's got this seme and bad attitude that you can't help loving, but to me, the pairing I thought I would read was KenxOmi. Or if I tried another combination, in my mind, it would have been, like AyaxKen and YohjixOmi.

Ah! As if!

I talked with yami_tai about reading some WK slash, and she recced two sites, among which a YohjixAya archive... with Aya as the uke (aka bottom) in most of the stories, and I got into it so fast that my head spun! Me... reading YohjixAya, with Aya as the uke?

No, I'm telling you, some really weird things are happening!

Speaking of weird, the glitch that made the font on my LJ bigger than life decided to disappear, and everything went back to normal. Go figure.

I can't relate on the Snarry thing, because... well... it's Snape and Harry. >.< SB/RL all the way, yes, and it is totally canon.

As for the WK, well... yeah, to me, Aya is totally seme, too. But to Yohji, he'd have to be uke. I know it seems weird, but it'd just have to be that way, you know? And KxO is canon, too, by the way, just as much as Sirius/Remus is. Because... like you said, the OVA. It is painfully obvious. Hi. *waves*

Well, uke!Ayaxseme!Yohji might have seemed weird before I read these fics, but they sure convinced me. Yeah, he would be seme with Ken or Omi, but now, in my mind, he can't be anything other than uke with Yohji. I joined the club apparently lol Oh yeah, sorry, K/O *is* canon, too, you're right *g*

I understand what you mean about Snape/Harry. I'm tend to read HP/DM, SB/RL or LE/JP most but I also find myself enjoying the strangest pairings. Mostly it seems that if a fic is well written then I'll read it and there are some wondeful Harry/Snape fics out there.

And I definitely consider RL/SB canon.

I mean, I know why *I* friend people obviously, but I always wonder why people would friend me, like is it because we have interests in common, because we love the same pairings, stuff like this? I was on my friendsfriends page, read your entry and saw that we have several pairings in common (Sirius/ Remus, a strange liking for Harry/Snape fics) so I went to your LJ. Then I commented and friended you.

I always wonder why people friend me first but it still makes me happy so I don't worry about it.

*grins* I'm so pleased you liked the Aya Uke Archive! Did you like 'Amethyst Eyes'?? Hmm, my favourite Aya/Yohji fics are ones where they take turns being seme to be honest, it is somehow more believable than one of them being bottom all the time! As for pairings, I like any when it comes to WK and I think that I have told you already that my fav is definitely all four of them together :D!

Okay, HP slash and me; are you sitting comfortably? It's a bit of a long story!! Well, personally, I could never see what the fuss was about HP, I read the first two books and I thought they were okay but nothing special! But a colleague at work kept saying that I *had* to read the third book... so I did... and I met Sirius *sighs happily*! So after that I was thinking that HP wasn't so bad after all, hey a girl can change her mind!

But then the fifth book came out and I heard that one of the characters died and somehow I just *knew* that it was gonna be Sirius :( ! So I put off reading it for quite a while but now that I have read it, it actually wasn't that bad and I'm sure (although maybe sadly deluded) that we haven't seen the last of Sirius in the books :D!!

*snaps fingers* Everyone still with me at the back... *grins* good! Onto HP slash... I have only read Jade's HP slash which mainly focuses on Harry and Snape so I have never really had a problem with that pairing, but I love Sirius in the mix with anyone really although Remus or Harry preferably!!

Right, you will all be relieved to hear that I have finished... for now *evil smirk*!!!

I'm definitely grateful about the uke!Aya site. It's funny cos when you gave me the link and mentioned uke!Aya, I was kinda dubious. I trusted you though, and I so don't regret it *g* After all, I kinda like opening my mind to a new world of possibilities! lol

You know, when people tell me they don't really understand what's the fuss about HP, I always ask them to persevere and to read PoA. I mean, I read the first two HPs and liked them all right, but the third? It was such a revelation! I fell in love with Sirius, he became my favorite character immediately. To tell the truth, he became my favorite character even *before* I actually got to 'meet' him in the story. My best friend had told me so much about him, that it was as if I knew him already, and I really liked him even before I read anything about him for myself. The fourth didn't really do a lot to me, but OotP definitely became a second favorite. The angst in it is killing me, I swear! lol Yeah, what JKR dared do to Sirius is unbearable, but I just do not believe she killed him for real, so it's all right after all *g* Yeah, I'm the Queen of Denial as well, but I really believe it! *stamps foot*

Actually, I started to feel this pull toward SS/HP after some Jade's slash *eg* It just grew and grew... until this moment when I dived in a HP slash archive *sigh*

My OTP is still RL/SB though, but the fics I read are SS/HP- go figure. Let's just say SS/HP is second best... but in my mind, one is canon and the other fanon. That's the main difference lol

I think that Remus/Sirius is so canon that you don't get great angst ones with that pairing. Well, maybe good angst, but not too much - they're usually fluffy, or Mpreg, or boring, or... well, you get the point. With Snarry you get a lot of chances for angst, non-con, bdsm, chan, etc. Therefore the variety of fics is larger - hence my approval of the pairing because of the great material provided lol

Ah, another proof for the fact that fandom need a semblance of balance. One fan leaves Snarry corner of the fandom and another pops in their place. *giggles* Having shipped SS/HP for over a year, no I hate it with a passion. Except if McKay (formerly JayKay) writes it, I'll read anything by her, even Dobby/Squid. If you haven't read anything by her, go and do it!

The Severus Snape Fuh-Q Fest (http://snapeff.ebonyx.org/) has some good SS/HP stories, but you have to find them among the trash. And there's always Walking the Plank (http://www.subumbra.com/plank/) - Snape/Harry part of Snapeslash archive.

we definitely have to talk about those fics off line - it's weird though, because you never went hunting for Remus/Sirius, I was your dealer, and now you go and look for Snarry? weird.

Oh, and I want to state for the record (and everyone who doesn't already know this) that Snarry isn't my OTP. Not even in my top five pairing.
