Hey guys! I'm back... and I survived the Con. Whoo! Okay, so due to some events out of my control, I couldn't kidnap MS, after all. Next time, baby *g*
Here my not so little report. I was kinda surprise at how long it was - and I didn't even detailed it that much!
Before I start my little report, let's get something straight. Yes, the organisation was a mess... worse than that actually, yes Day-2s (D2s were people like me who had a pass for Day-2 only) didn't have pictures with any of the guests nor did they have autographs, yes, some of the VIPs or the Weekends didn't get them either apparently, although most of them did - they just had to wait longer than they expected, and yes it was fucking unfair and disappointing for some. Yes, there was a very strict hierarchy with said VIPs at the top of the chain, the Weekends right after them, and far far behind little Day 2's. Well, know what? I can't even feel bad about any of that! I could even say that, in a way, everything considered, I don't really care.
Sure, I would have lovedto have an autograph (I didn't think Day-2 would have pictures anyway) of everyone, I won't even try to deny I wasn't a bit disappointed, but man, the rest was just so bloody brilliant! I know lots of people will have a bad memories of the thing (I already heard some feedbacks, and they all focused on the crappy organisation) but I feel sorry for them, because they're focusing on the negative and not the on the positive. Though I totally understand them, don't get me wrong. Lost of them paid big buck to have some privileges, came from abroad, and the result was less than satisfying. I'm sorry for them all, on both account. There's apparently going to be two more SG Cons in the coming year in France. One in Paris again, and the other in Nice, and I'm wondering how many people will want to try again *whispers* If MS attends again, I will definitely try. Maybe this time I'll get my autograph? And why not a picture with him *g* Oh and CJ and AT too, cos now I'm hooked on them too!
This said, let's now talk about that I thought of the thing
If you ask me, I'll just say I had a wonderful time on Sunday. No matter what happened or didn't happen. What I'll remember from that day will be the very beginning, and the Q/A session. For a fucking long time!
Can you imagine the thrill when you see the actors going on stage for the very first time? You're thinking about all the times you just watched the show, watched the DVDs, and the bonus, watched them through a screen, and you're now facing them, for real! It was so weird, you know? Here they were all- right in front of us. It felt a little surreal, that's for sure... and so good *g*
I cheered and squeed like anyone else at MS' arrival, of course, but that's normal. I mean, even though the poor guy had some problems with his eyes, and had to keep his glasses at first, or a cap- this was MS, you know? And he's just too pretty for his good that one, and well, he's the one portraying my favorite character ever, so no surprise here. I squeed a lot too at CJ, but here again, I think Teal'c is great, and each time I saw CJ speaking about the show, he always looked so fun and so nice that I was pretty impatient to see him too, so here again, no real surprise. But want want to know my first thought at seeing AT? Easy, it went like this : "OMG, she's absolutely GORGEOUS!". And I kinda didn't stop - each time I saw her, it was the same story. She was just so attractive. I never though AT was bad looking, don't get me wrong. I thought she was really attractive in the first seasons, but afterward, they so messed up with her hair and everything that I couldn't think of her as sexy or gorgeous... not even when she was dressed in civilian clothes. Sure, she was nice... but that was all. But Sunday. OH.MY.GOD! No seriously, she was... wow. You should see her with long hair, guys. Well as far as I'm concerned, it's a sight I'm not going to forget anytime soon *eg*
CJ did his energiser bunny routine from the very beginning. The man is amazing! It's such a contrast with his role as Teal'c, know what I mean? If there ever was a list of actors being the opposite of the character they're portraying, CJ would be at the top. Oh and he had hair btw *g* Actually, even MS grew his a little. Yeah, I'm obsessed with people's hair, so sue me! lol
So yes, let's just say that this very first impression was one hell of a good impression *g* JR Bourne didn't impress me that much, I have to admit, but it's just that I don't have a real connexion with his character - that is, to me, his best part was when Martouf died - but
alinewrites's daughter was apparently really happy to see him, so I didn't feel that bad for not going crazy for the guy *g* He was great too, though, he's a nice showman like the others. We also had a mysterious guest, who happened to be Sarah Douglas. At first, we almost didn't recognise her (I mean the girls I was with and I)- bad us, shame on us! But when it was her turn to do the Q/A session in the afternoon, she sure took some real importance! The woman is great! She has a wicked sense of humor, and she sure knows how to tell a story - she had us laugh through her whole session, and she's just great! *g*
Now, speaking of the Q/A session. Just for that it was worth it. That's a great feeling- having your favorite guys and girls sitting in front of you, one after the other for 45 minutes each so you can really focus on each of them, and them on you - well, allow me to think it goes both way, all right? Thanks - and talk to you, answer the questions, and just... fool around, you know? They joke with the audience, play with the audience... I loved it!
It felt like we were really having a privileged time with them. I mean, even though we were around several hundreds in the amphitheater, it felt like we had the actors just for ourselves, know what I mean *g*
The first to come on stage was Sarah Douglas. At the beginning, I was kind anxious to see her leave so I could see the others, and yes, I know how petty it sounds. But as soon as she started to talk, and when she started to answer questions, it all changed! Like I previously said, the woman is great! She didn't talk a lot about SG actually, and even warned us first thing that she didn't remember that much of the time she played in it (which was kinda funny when you think of it) but she talked a lot about her previous roles, like in V for instance, with some really funny anecdotes. She's witty, and smart and really kind... and she's nice looking too, if you allow me some shallow moments. I felt sorry to see her leave.
The second one was JR Bourne, and even though he was great too, and made me laugh quite a bit as well, I didn't feel so bad when he did leave. But yeah, he was really cool too, answering questions with eager, funny or smart replies depending on the mood. I really appreciated when he talked to us about one of his last movie role when he's portraying a heroin addict. I mean, I liked how he talked about this particular and delicate role, and how he worked to achieve credibility to portray the young junkie. Also, it's always funny to hear how people got their roles or the reality behind the screen so to speak. Like, he didn't go for Martouf's role at first. He passed an audition for another Tok'ra, and it was RDA who thought he would good for Martouf after all. I mean, I just love that kind of details *g*
Then it was AT's turn, and I was hooked as soon as she opened her mouth! lol She's so funny - the woman is making you laugh each time she's saying something. I mean, she's witty and charming, but you have to multiply it by 10 to try to imagine how it was with her... she's always goofing around, almost unable to keep still? She was playing the audience like a professional conductor, I swear she had us all under her spell *g* She also played with the translator each time the woman had something to translate (which was every 20 seconds or so), and when said translator decided to go on strike because AT kept being a 'naughty girl', AT didn't blink and started answering the question in French! Yeap, the woman can speak a little of French - it was really cute. She wasn't bad at all, I mean, she wasn't just saying 'bonjour' or 'comment ça va' but longer sentences, and really, she did good *g* She's really enthusiastic, too. I mean, she never just answered one question and waited for another. Sure, the guests are there to answer and 'show off', but I heard about some actors who you could feel would have loved nothing more than being somewhere else. With AT, and any of the others, you just felt as if yeah, they had a great time too. And that's really satisfying for the audience. We never feel cheated - dunno if I'm really clear here... When it was time for her to leave the stage, believe me, we were pouting a lot! But well, MS was next so... *g*
SO MS! Sometimes, those actors must feel like they're the Messiah or something! You should have seen, or heard the reaction of the audience when he showed up. Pretty impressive. It was like a dream, I swear *g* You have to know that through the morning, he kept his cap and sunglasses. The thing is, he had some problems with his eyes. What I really appreciated though is that he actually took off the sunglasses for the Q/A (and yes, you could see he wasn't joking about his eyes btw). Anyway, I thought it was rather thoughtful to do that, because hey, I really wanted to see him, ya know? *g*
Speaking of being thoughtful and/or nice. Each time one of the guests appeared on stage, we were asked to stop taking pictures like 10 minutes after their arrival. When it was MS's turn, the translator asked us to stop, but then MS told us to keep on, and that it didn't bother him at all - as a matter of fact, if you're a details whore like I am, you'll be happy to know that he actually said "Hey, who said they had to stop? Give me her name immediately! No really, keep going. Thanks for your concern, but it's all right" It was pretty much what he said, even if not word for word, maybe. Isn't he the sweetest, uh?
So we could take as many pictures as we wanted of him, and afterward of CJ. You know, it's funny cos compared to CJ and AT, he almost sounded calm, but man does he know how to make his audience laugh! He also knows how to use his appeal, that's for sure! When he talked in that sexy drawl of his to make a point, you could do nothing but melt on the spot. He also does a bambi act pretty well. It was pretty funny to see him playing the innocent and naive guy. He didn't just answer questions of course. For one thing, he usually digressed a lot, and then he just played with his audience- he would stand, or kneel (I really liked it btw) and he would act so that the answers never were just uni-dimensional. He did three little scenes in particular that had me laugh so hard that my jaws were hurting. I have to admit I was already hurting after SD and AT sessions though... Oh man, MS was just soooooo charming! Definitely up to my expectations. I mean, sure they're just men and women, like any other, but for a fan, they're a little more than that, and I really didn't want to feel disappointed. I mean, it wouldn't have changed anythng as far as my watching SG was concerned, obviously, but it just feels great knowing I can watch the actors as well now, and say, "Oh yeah, I saw MS you know, and he's really a great guy. Funny and smart." It's just nice *shrug*
At one point, he scared me though. See, we were supposed to 'have them' for 45 minutes, and after 25 minutes only, he stood and started thanking us and saying goodbye, and I was like, What?? He's leaving already? Man, that wasn't a nice moment. Thankfully, he came back immediately and overall he stayed for 53 minutes. Now, before you ask, no, I wasn't counting, it's just that there was this counter on the screen. Oh yeah, forgot to say there was a huge screen behind them so we could really see them well. I mean, the amphitheater was kinda big, so for those who were at the top, they wouldn't have seen anything - so the screen helped us see them as if they were right in front of us. Anyway, to make a long story short, we had him a little longer than expected, and the second party was the best - that's when he did the Wounded Lamb act, and the other one I can't remember the name of... that was just absolutely brilliant. I thought I wouldn't stop laughing! lol
Also, we had some sorta slash moment with him, when a girl mentioned that some of SG fans were actually firm believers in a relationship between Jack and Daniel, and asked (on her friend's behalf apparently) what was originally a slash question. So in a way, she actually talked about us slashers, only she didn't say the term 'slash'- don't know if she even knew it. Anyway, they were some slashers sitting around me, and we could hear "slash, say slash, dammit" all around! lol Finally, the slash question turned into a more PC question, that is the question became the following "If Daniel was a woman, who would have won, Sam or Daniel." Well... the lascivious sprawl MS took at that point was a sight to behold, and when he said, in that sexy voice of his "Seriously girlfriend, who do you think would have won" - I thought I was going to have a stroke! lol So okay, it wasn't the slash answer I wanted, but it was close enough *snicker* Then the five minutes or so following that question, something really weird but hilarious happened - everything that was said, by MS or people in the audience could be turned into a sexual innuendos! lol
Anyway, you can say that, yes, when he finally left to let CJ arrive, MS had made me a really happy camper *g*
Now, CJ. Wow... the man is high maintenance! lol He was like a big kid who couldn't stay in place, he was hilarious *g* Really talkative too, and always smiling or laughing - al.ways. He was so brilliant! No really, the man is like a big smile on legs. And did you know CJ was a stuntman? Well, now I know. He cracked me up with that little scene; he was telling us about RDA and him being just big kids on the set, and how their favorite scenes were when they had to carry and use their guns. As soon as he finished his sentence, the guy stood, and started running on stage, and hiding behind the chairs and firing an imaginary gun... then he did this little stunt over a chair - falling on the floor with said chair lol My poor jaws thought they would never recover! Also, something that the sappy in me found really beautiful was how he started his session. He asked us to turn to someone we didn't know... as first we thought he was joking, but then we saw he was serious, so we obeyed like the good little fangirls and fanboys we were *g* Then he told us to introduce ourselves to said person, which we did too... then when we were done, he opened his arms to the audience and welcomed the Big Stargate Family. It was so cute! *sigh*
You know, from what I watched on the DVDs each time CJ was on screen, I knew he was someone funny and energetic, but when you're facing the man for real, wow it's so much more! Hi enthusiasm is really contagious, and you feel happy just seeing him. Oh man, I was gone on him as well! lol
Finally, when his turn was over, the other guests reappeared, and they took care of an auction. Man, talk about a great show here as well! lol I didn't want to miss a second. It was so brilliant, because they were all on stage at once, doing their show together. And they really let go! Playing even more with the audience since the auction was all about said audience, I mean they were going to give their money away, you know? And some of them had really a lot of money, wow! The bidding kept getting higher and higher - offering us some really nice moments when the guests were all shouting, or addressing people directly in the amphitheater! It was so fucking great....
Oh a last thing. There were a lot of shippers in the room, and boy were they loud! They actually managed some nice stuff... the bitches! lol See, we had the pleasure of meeting Isabelle Chanson, who's the actress dubbing AT in the French version. Well, one of said shippers' first accomplishment was to make Mlle Chanson say "Mon Colonel, je vous aime", as in "Colonel, I love you". Man, the girls were having a stroke, I swear! lol Then, they were brave enough to ask AT to say it too, in French and English, which - as
alinewrites reminded me - she didn't actually. To be exact, she did say in French "mon colonel, je vous aime beaucoup", but when she was supposed to try it in English, she just leant back on her chair, and said "How' you doing" lol It was so cool lol I was pretty happy she didn't say the whole thing, because, hey the slasher in me was hurting enough, ya know? *eg* Of course, from an un-selfish point of view, I can understand how happy the shippers were! lol
See, that's why I cannot focus on the bad stuff. Yes, I'm more than satisfied from this day- and that's actually an understatement. I can't even start to think about the bad organisation. The rest was so much better - it made up for everything *happy-happy sigh* I think the fangirl in me is going to cherish that day for a long time *g*
Now, on a last last note, Sunday was also great for another reason. I actually got to meet great people, including (and I was pretty excited about it beforehand anyway)
alinewrites and her daughter - and I was so not disappointed! They're great, both of them *beaming* I also met another girl who happened to share a lot of common points with me - that was funny. The a-social girl that I am also talked with lots of people, british people in particular - and it just felt great *g*
Also, after the Con, I joined some of my listsibs from TS-French-Loft at a restaurant, and I had a really time with them, even if a little short. I really hope I'll get to meet them again, and this time that I'll be able to stay with them longer *g*
Here my not so little report. I was kinda surprise at how long it was - and I didn't even detailed it that much!

Man, the girls were having a stroke, I swear! lol Then, they were brave enough to ask AT to say it too, in French and English, which - as
See, that's why I cannot focus on the bad stuff.
Also, after the Con, I joined some of my listsibs from TS-French-Loft at a restaurant, and I had a really time with them, even if a little short. I really hope I'll get to meet them again, and this time that I'll be able to stay with them longer *g*

Date: 2003-12-02 09:12 am (UTC)But I have to say that Amanda *didn't* say "Colonel I love you." Not in English. She said, "how are you doing?"
And she was pretty clear that there could be *no* romance between the two.

Date: 2003-12-04 04:05 am (UTC)Oh please, don't talk to me about pictures! They say digital camera is the best invention ever... yeah, well the one I was using apparently didn't know that! I'm afraid the pics aren't good. I'll try to have them manipulated a bit, but I'm afraid it won't work *sniffles*
