Am watching a movie with Gong Li atm in its original version, and mixed with [livejournal.com profile] yami_tai's last post, I'm suddenly coming to the realization that I really miss learning Chinese. Don't laugh, it's true. German and Greek, I can't really say I miss learning those - but Chinese, I do. A lot. Don't think I'm going to do something about it though, I have enough stuff to think about right now, but still...

I was cruising LJ tonight, trying to find new friends - There was this girl who had several interests in common with me, and sounded nice, but then I read a post about how she hated incest, and couldn't ever think of Boromir/Faramir without shuddering, and I suddenly realized friending her wasn't such a good idea after all lol It wouldn't be fair to her somehow, I know it's silly since she wouldn't friend me back, but from a twisted point of view, I wouldn't feel comfortable friended her knowing she really disliked incest and B/F so much.

Then there was this girl who was absolutely obsessed about her acting class and never ever talked about anything else, and she posted sometimes three times a day about said acting class - you have to admire dedicated and obsessed people like her *g* She got a little edgy when she didn't get any comment. Or this other one who only posted one-liners, or that one who only posted quizzes, and she wasn't even on friend-locked mode. When finally I found someone with the same interests as me, one who didn't sound like she would kill on sight anyone talking about dark stories or incest stories, one who wouldn't ramble forever about a subject I just couldn't get interested in even if my life depended on it, well, she only posted once a week - when she posted at all, and seriously, I need LJ addicts like me *g* Although, ya know, maybe the best one was this girl who got aggressive when people didn't comment on her posts and/or stories and wrote long entries in caps demanding to receive more comments.

Yes, LJ has lots of interesting people... but also some scary ones! lol

Didn't find anyone to add btw, and I'm actually this close to ask you to pimp some of yours friends to me! *g* Come on, there're slave auctions, right? I'm sure the kinkiest among you know all about those - so what about a little lj friends auction? I won't say anything if you won't *eg*

I read a nice - don't try to see any coherency in that post, please, for your own sanity - M/K last night. It's been so long since I found a new XF fic. I mean, it seems that since the archivist dispatched Slashing Mulder in two different archives, the XF fandom is a sorta dead. I used to find 90% of my stories at Slashing Mulder, so now I'm kinda lost. Help?

That story I mentioned also made me want to re-read what I think is the best M/K story I've ever read, Second Grace It's long and complex, and so wonderfully written, and Fox and Alex (yeah, I'm using their first names *gasp*) are absolutely stunning in that series *sigh*

Sometimes, it's a good thing I remember XF is actually one of the Triade. It's my third fandom, after SG and TS. *frowns* Somehow, I could even it's my second one, since I can't really pick between SG and TS! *g*

ETA: Got myself some new - -and new-old - XF links. Will have to check everything. Tough job, but someone's gotta do it, right?

Oh gawd, if you like M/K check out "Departure" by Imajiru. I've got all four parts (I, II, 2.5, III) in my links bar; if you like hot, HOT M/K stuff plus one hell of a plot, there ya go. :)

As for more friends...oh geez, if you find some I'm all ears! It's so friggin' difficult to find new people; my flist is practically inbred because I swipe from my friends' flists. *lol*

From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
I already know about 'Departur', and you're right, it was one hell of a story- sorta epic in a way *g*

And we do have the same problems with finding new friends- where are all the LJ pervies, I wonder?? Are they hiding or something? *pout*

I hear ya on the whole bit about finding the perfect person and they don't post much; I like to have addicts like myself on my flists. *lol*

I am proud to say that I was able to find some people who I felt like adding to my list of friends (and the peasants rejoice! ...yay). [livejournal.com profile] voleuse, [livejournal.com profile] shebit, and [livejournal.com profile] andrealyn seem cool so far; don't know if they're up your alley but you might swing by their respective places. :) [livejournal.com profile] shaenie's cool too, but she does mostly RPS fiction (albeit REALLY good BDSM fics) so I don't know if she's up your alley either. [livejournal.com profile] silvestra is a real sweetie, but I see these annoying little locks on her posts which makes me wonder if they're viewable if you're not a Friend so... [livejournal.com profile] ladyjaida is good for fics, as are [livejournal.com profile] rohandove and [livejournal.com profile] iscaris.

Oy, I have more rec's than I thought I did! It's difficult to find people who are the exact combination that I want - which is the reason I like trolling through the people YOU friend. :) I always know you'll find the real winners.

[livejournal.com profile] rohandove and [livejournal.com profile] iscaris are already part of my flist *g* And yes, that's a nice list you gave me *g* Thanks! Pimpage is good, pimpage is our firend- even if it deals with trading human flesh *eg*

maybe I could pimp out [livejournal.com profile] blackdracaena - she's really cool. Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] fyrie is really fun - total fangirl, that one is - she's the one with the weird plotbunnies that make me laugh ^^ I think you'd like them... but since we already have many friends in common, it shortens the list lol

Yes, [livejournal.com profile] mrs_puppethead and [livejournal.com profile] ladyeclectic79. Technically, they might have less things in common that would be safe, but they're just fucking hilarious and quite the obsessive compulsive kind, so that would be known quantity from the word go lol

Nah you're right. :) The green bit sucked; red is much more me. (woo, alliteration in all its goodness)
Now if I can only figure out how to make it so Component will allow table cells to be transparent so a background can be seen...

Date: 2004-01-22 04:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Like mine, you mean? Transparent all the way so that my bc can be seen :

You go to Edit Customization (at the Customization page, obviously). Then 'color' section.

Here... You have to let the very first box black, ie #ffffff. Then, *each* time you see 'background' in the description of the feature, you delete the color code, the box has to be blank.

That should do.

I actually just realized I found the fic at *your* LJ! lol The one where you rec fics. So I should be thanking you as a matter of fact lol

Now though, if you never read the The Second Grace (http://www.hegalplace.com/logan/stories.html)Series by Logan, I'd rec it- definitely *g*

Heh, it's nice to see that people read my recs!
And Second grace is excellent, but I already know it. Which won't keep me from reading it again!
I'm a little slow with recs at the moment, since I don't have much time. But I'll try to rec some of the older xf stories that i enjoyed some time this month year. :-)

Thanks!

Oookay, so apparently I missed another great post! I've been directed to the third part of a smutty fic written by one of my friend, post that I missed today too *sigh*

I'll check it out, thanks! But you know, since I don't know all the episodes, my reply will certainly has a lot to do with how hot they look or something lol

And don't you dare unfriend me *pout*

Wow, you used to learn Chinese... Mandarin or Cantonese??

but then I read a post about how she *hated* incest

*grins* I really like incest fics and I like the idea of Boromir/Faramir even if I have yet to read any fanfics with that pairing >.<;;!! Don't know why but consensual incest has never squicked me. *grins* I guess it is because I believe that love is love, no matter what gender, relationship or race :D! *nods* Yep, I am a hopeless romantic, how could you tell??!!!

Date: 2004-01-22 03:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
Yes, when I was in high scholl and during my first year at the U. Then I stopped... and it's true that I sorta regret it. Well, not really, cos I think my stopping Chinese was meant to be, or else I wouldn't have been able to do what I'm doing now, but I miss it anyway *g*

And it was mandarin.

For some Boromir/Faramir fics, you could check The Library of Moria (it's in my links list- sorry, I'm just too lazy to paste the code right now lol) or [livejournal.com profile] ithilien_night. This pairing is so my favorite LoTR pairing- in case it wasn't obvious lol

I actually forgot to add the ones whose LJs are 'Friends Only', only they deleted everything... how the hell I am supposed to know if I find them nice and funny and witty and interesting if I have NOTHING to compare with? And they want me to add them? This is the LJ equivalent of 'blind date'.

That annoys me too. I friended someone who had similar interests to me and found they'd moved on from what I like and were now a huge HP fan. Which is fine but not what I wanted to read.

You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find good friends, but even if you share interests it doesn't mean they like those interests in the same way.

Date: 2004-01-22 04:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ladyeclectic79.livejournal.com
*ugh* Amen. And you feel utterly crappy unfriending them, so now you've got someone who's gagas over a fandom/subject you don't care about, and you just wish you could get them off your friends page!

.... not that that's ever happened to me. Of course not. Yeah... ;)

Date: 2004-01-22 04:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] castalie.livejournal.com
What's the deal with people feeling crappy or sad when they're unfriending someone? I'm defintiely starting to think I'm heartless, or ruthless, I swear! lol I friend and unfriend at will, and never think about it. Of course, I expect that people will friend me and unfriend *me* at will too. What's good for someone is good for me too- that's only fair, I think.

It's not a personal attack, after all- it's just that suddenly, you realize you never comment to their posts- if you ever did to start with, and you don't even *read* their posts anymore. Not only that, but they're starting to sorta bore you. Not because they are boring per se, but just because *you* don't have anything in common with them, it's purely a matter of perception, right?

Do you people really feel bad when you unfriend someone?

Date: 2004-01-22 05:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ladyeclectic79.livejournal.com
Do you people really feel bad when you unfriend someone?

Yeah, in general I do. Of course, it's usually for purely selfish reasons: I don't want to be unfriended by anyone myself. *lol* What's additionally hard, though, is when they're a big presence or whatnot in your own blog and you couldn't care less from theirs.

...again, not speaking from experience here. ;)

Exactly.

After asking to be added it feels bad to unfriend them again. I ended up with someone who shared a lot of my interests but had moved onto the HP fandom. She only posted about that too, which I would have known about if I could have read her LJ beforehand. As it was I feel crap defriending her as I made the move and asked to be added.

.... not that that's ever happened to me. Of course not. Yeah... ;)

Sure it hasn't ;)
