I saw this line in at least two fics, (and from different writers if I'm not mistaken) and I was wondering if the line was actually canon?

It's when Faramir wakes up in the House of Healing :

My lord, you called me. I come. What does the king command?

Because I could easily fall in love with that line!

Hmmm, well if it's from one of the movies, it would have to be in the EE and people didn't see that one yet, did they? So, if it's from a movie, indeed, it may be from the animated version you mentioned?

Hey, was this version any good, btw? I never saw it.

I've always thought so. They tones something down and leave some things out, but over-all the animation is good for the time (70's). There was the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Return of the King

the line is from the Houses of Healing chapter in ROTK and in full it reads: "My lord, you called me. I come. What does the king command?"

delicious, no? and they say tolkien wouldnt approve of slash.

Ooooooooh, it's *canon*, then? Officially, truly, deliciously *canon*?

Man, that must be one of the most beautiful lines, ever! *blink*

and they say tolkien wouldnt approve of slash

Ah! I'll be the girl laughing in the corner over that statement! lol

if u've never read the books, u really should. there is some very serious boy love going on amongst the characters. there are just some scenes and descriptions that are just plain and simple slash. like when pippen first sees faramir. i love it all. *licks*

Although I do have the books, I only read some Faramir scenes (yes, I'm bad) and obviously, I missed some *important* ones! Also, the moment when Pippin sees Faramir for the first time *is* indeed beautifully slashy- that at least, I know. Beautiful, beautiful characters who are in love with just everyone else in that story! lol

Yes! Yesyesyes! Except for Frodo/Sam, that is the most splendidly slashy scene in the books. I about near died when I read it.

Btw, did you see? [livejournal.com profile] blackdracaena is going to add Faramir to her To Do list of sprite icons.

Apparently someone suggested that character.

Yeah, that was a weird request, wasn't it? Some people are really weird, indeed.

I think the whole section is very slashy myself and I quote, Suddenly Faramir stirred, and he opened his eyes, and he looked on Aragorn who bent over him; and a light of knowledge and love was kindled in his eyes, and he spoke softly. 'My lord, you called me. I come. What does the king command?'

'Walk no more in the shadows, but awake!' said Aragorn. 'You are weary. Rest a while, and take food, and be ready when I return.'

If we can´t get you to read the whole book, you should at least read "The Houses of Healing" with aformentioned quote and "The Steward and the King". I loved Faramir offering the White Rod of Stewardship to his King and thus pledging his allegiance and if I remember correctly Aragorn when gifting Faramir with Ithilien requested explicitely that he live in the hills of Emyn Arnen within sights of the White City! Now why would he do that...*naughty grin*...anyways those two chapters are responsible for me being such a huge fan of Aragorn/Faramir. You can guess that I was very disappointed that neither scene was in the movie! *growl*

*takes note* I'll read those scenes in particular, yeah. I only have the French version atm, and somehow... it just doesn't feel the same, ya know?

And I can see why anyone (I mean, if I wasn't already into Aragorn/Faramir as well) would fall for that pairing after *that* kind of scenes! Wow.

And hopefully, the scene will be in the EE? *pleading look* We have to keep hoping *nods*
