TS is alive and kicking... deal with it.
Nov. 9th, 2004 09:27 pmWoohoo, if everything goes according to plan, we should have a new TS comm. Courtesy of
ainm with the help of
fluterbev. No pressure girls, just hope we'll see the comm soon *g*
For once, recent writers - read writers who entered the fandom circa two/three years ago - should be put on the front line - not to be dissed or ridiculed but rec'ced and encouraged. Incredible concept in the TS fandom, huh? Yes, boggles the mind, indeed. Twas also rather enticing which is why
ainm's idea had such an immediate success *g* We'll see how it goes, of course but hey - it's a first step.
Too bad for those who think that a) the fandom is dead and b) newbies = teh suck. Newsflash, a) it's not and b) they couldn't be more wrong - TS is alive and kicking and it's also thanks to the new blood.
*does the happy TS dance*
And speaking of happy thoughts. Christmas is coming and the atmosphere is already making me sorta giddy. Yes, some people think Christmas is that over-commercialised thing and they hate it - well, I'm part of the crowd who doesn't give a shit about it and I just love Christmas and the whole period. You won't see Christmas rants in my LJ, that's for sure *g* And even the whole November/December stress/exhaustion induced by The Yearly Winter Job can't ruin the thing for me. I love it that much *g*
Watching the news was nice today because they showed the Galeries Lafayette Illuminations and I can't wait to wander around there.

And what about the Champs Elysées, then?

How I love those illuminations and other decorations - can't wait for every street to be illuminated. I'll have to kidnap one of The Friends and spend an afternoon in Paris soon *g*
ETA: Now watching the brand new SG:A, you know the episode that aired in Canada *g* Thanks go to
wisdomeagle. I can't help it, I have to give the show another chance. Maybe this eppy will grab my attention? After all, I remember liking the pilot. So let's try again. Besides, I adore McKay and Beckett so they deserve another chance too *nods firmly*

Date: 2004-11-09 12:42 pm (UTC)okay, back now *g* I'm spamming everyone with this thought, but what do you think about a sister comm for new fic announcements? I see how self-recs could overwhelm the new group, but if there were a place where authors could announce new fic postings or lj WIPs, the whole issue could be avoided, and we'd get all that new blood...
what do you think? I'd co-mod with someone (I better find out what that means exactly now that I've offered all over the place...)

Date: 2004-11-09 12:50 pm (UTC)What'll be The Winter Job, btw? I remember you posted about options, but I don't remember you told us the result? Sorry if I missed it...

Date: 2004-11-09 01:12 pm (UTC)The Winter Job doesn't have anything to do with the jobs I mentioned in one of my older post, which jobs I never talked about again btw, so you didn't forget nor miss anything, don't worry *g* I try to keep the LJ fannish mostly, that's why *g*

Date: 2004-11-09 01:25 pm (UTC)Yeah, Christmas is the best moment of the year. I always try to be with my family for several days for Christmas and knowing that makes me happy many weeks in advance. I've seen the first string of lights in my street tonight and that makes me smile despite the tiredness from work and the cold. The junkie idea, you got it exactly.

Date: 2004-11-09 09:49 pm (UTC)it used to be like that for me too ... and one day, i lost it :(
i'm not saying i don't like christmas, i mean, it's *christmas*!! but it used to be something special, and now that i'm a "grown-up" and there are no little kids in the family anymore, it's become an almost-tedious family reunion where we all wait for the traditionnal 'family crisis' ...
but this year will be different!! :)

Date: 2004-11-09 09:52 pm (UTC)here i don't even notice it's gonna be christmas, none of the signs are there! it's spring, for christ's sake! lol
and for the first year we're spending christmas away from the whole family ... usually we have our fixed schedule: christmas eve at our place, christmas day at my maternal grdparents, and the day after at my paternal grdparents. but this year, it'll be christmas in a mobile home by the sea!! *g*

Date: 2004-11-09 11:02 pm (UTC)Well, Christmas in a mobile home by the sea may be quite the experience *g* Hope you'll have fun. Btw, you'll have to give me your address if you want some Christmas cards - or whatever card as a matter of fact *g*
Illuminations...
Date: 2004-11-09 10:12 pm (UTC)My little corner of the country has a Christmas custom you'd like - called 'luminarias' or 'farrolitas', depending on what part of the state you're in.
Basically, they are small brown paper bags with some sand in the bottom. Inside the bags are set small candles, though some people now use small electric lights for safety.
The luminarias are set in rows along the edges of the family's lawn. They may also be set along the edges of the rooftop, or atop a fence. After dark, when they are all lighted, it is a magical sight -- rows of softly-glowing, muted light outlining the family's property.

Date: 2004-11-14 10:05 pm (UTC)Oh perfect Jim and Blair's voices! Sweet story - so very them.
Thank you. I really enjoy writing the "down home" moments with Jim and Blair.
And even though I don't drink coffee, I absolutely love how beans smell - I could stay and sniff around those little shops forever, so I was right there with both of them *g*
I don't drink it either, though I think the beans and the brewing smells heavenly. (But the taste doesn't live up to the smell.) Oddly, I learn from my friend that her son doesn't drink coffee either. So, one non-coffee-drinker wrote a coffee-flavored (*g*) story for another another non-coffee-drinker. There's a lesson in there somewhere.

I also love when you're bitchy because yes, the fact that TS fandom is embracing new writers as opposed to the 'classics' is a wonderful thing indeed.
