I joined the Firefly bandwagon, woohoo!
May. 28th, 2005 01:59 amSpoiled spoiled SPOILED - that's what I was tonight *g* The parental unit? Got me a I-can-watch-Numb3rs-snuggled-up-in-bed-from-now-on device! Aka Divx player! Yes, I have one now and I can watch my CDs from my bed! Charlie and Don... from my bed! I mean, can it get better than this? I don't think so. Well, I suppose Charlie and Don... in my bed might have been better. If I'd been straight. So watching them from my bed is definitely enough for me. The Esu spoiled me too and just, I had this huge smile on my face the all time, you know?
My flist was awesome as well. I got the best wishes ever and the most gorgeous cards *kisses Flist* As well as pretty and shiny presents - *kisses
aswanargent and
french_hobbit and
yami_tai again*
Speaking of
yami_tai? You'll never guess what she got me... Firefly the complete series! Am not kidding, man, the shiny boxset is M.I.N.E! So I already watched the pilot and... yeah okay, now I can officially say that I understand why the fuss over this series - it got me too *g*
The mixture of different time periods as well as different cultures is quite fascinating, I'll admit. I'll also admit I was a tad skeptical when I heard people talk about it but it works... definitely works.
The female characters are all... wonderful! Well of course they're absolutely gorgeous and yeah, I certainly noticed, thanks, but more than that they're just awesome women, all with something different which attracts me and seriously I keep wondering: how come Joss Whedon always creates such strong, assertive, deep, loveable, complex female characters? I mean, in any other show, you'll get one female character like that. And if you're so lucky there's no words for it, you'll get two, maybe. And okay I might be exaggerating, but sadly, not by much. But Joss-verse? Always has a lot of those characters and just, how does he do that? And why can't others be like him?
But anyway, I don't know who's my favourite, though somehow I'm leaning towards Inara and Zoe... then again, I fucking love Kaylee too, she's so smart and radiant... kinda my kind of girl. Mind you, I only watched the pilot so I'm just talking without really knowing, but well, that's my first impression at least *g*
As for the guys, I'm rooting for Simon, of course. I'm saying 'of course' because, obviously, I just know myself very well and as soon as he appeared on screen I thought, That's him! That's the character you're going to love, Mouse. Trust me on that one. Which I do. Trust myself, I mean. Mal is... a character I'm quite enjoying too, just for different reasons and not to the same extent I'm already enjoying Simon's character but he definitely has potential. Book is great as well. As for River [am back with the girls, here, I know] I have the feeling I'm going to enjoy the ride - so all in all... I'm sorta hooked already lol And this is just the pilot. Dude! It's going to be interesting *blink*
Also, now that I finally watched the show, I'm recognising familiar faces and like okay so Zoe was Jasmine and Jayne was Hamilton in Angel. Mal, that was Caleb in Buffy... I'm pretty sure I saw River too and I'd say Angel though er, all right, I'm not sure which episode that was... And since my brain is fried from a) all the shiny I got for my birthdays and b) the fucking heat which is still going strong at almost 2.00 am, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to recognise the others... so did all of them actually feature in Angel or Buffy?
And now, though I'm supposed to go to sleep, I think I'll just play with my pretties again *sparkling eyes*

Date: 2005-05-28 10:34 am (UTC)She's a real dancer, then? So when she played the ballerina in that episode of Angel, she wasn't really playing one, just being one? Lovely *g*

Date: 2005-05-28 03:41 am (UTC)Joss really does have such a handle on writing strong, complicated women. Like someone said above, he has a huge respect for women -- he calls himself a feminist and calls Buffy a feminist show. He's a guy who really understands that women are just people, as complicated as any man. I love him so much for that.

I think I'll just play with my pretties again *sparkling eyes*
*grins* So what time did you eventually go to sleep, hun?

Date: 2005-05-28 10:40 am (UTC)*cough*3.30 am*cough* But from a certain POV, I was kinda reasonable, I could have pulled a all-nighter for that one. But I needed to wake up at 8.00 am so I didn't want to push it. Though I'll admit to be a bit sleepy today *rubs eyes*
