Sep. 22nd, 2005 01:29 pmJoyeux Anniversaire, SAM! Comme voeux d'anniversaire, je te souhaite de mener à bien tous tes projets... et de continuer à trouver tout le slash dont tu peux rêver. Comme ça, je pense que j'ai fait le tour :-) J'espère que tu passeras une super journée *kisses*
Now. I watched Supernatural 1x02 last night and oh yeah, I'm still loving it, no problem.
I loved the tension between the brothers - and loved how it was a tension born out of Dean's worries for his brother and Sam's unresolved anger at what happened in the pilot. I quite liked the way Dean lets it go at first, never confronting Sam... he just gives him those looks and you can see he's worried and maybe just trying to find the right moment to say anything. I really enjoy the dynamic between the brothers... they make one hell of a good team - I might repeat that little tidbit of information a lot in my future reviews, be warned. But it's true, they do. They snark and they play tough but they also protect each other and they know how to calm the other down - they're here for the other and you can't not love that in siblings :-) They also have issues and I'll admit it's a thing of beauty *cough*
Considering what I just said above, it won't come as a surprise that my favourite scene was the Discussion scene in the dark between them. I loved it! And I thought it was pretty cute when Sam used Dean's lines just after re: the killing the evil son of a bitch. It was like a clear message that Dean's message had been heard and assimilated. Cute.
Also, I keep wondering. Is Dean really believing - without the shadow of a doubt - that they'll find their father, or is he just trying to convince both himself and his bro?
On other things: the sound effects? Are pretty cool. And CKR was in the episode - to that I want to say, of course he was! The man is everywhere! He's a serial guest star, he appears in pretty much every show under the sun. Not that I'm complaining, but it never fails to amuse me *g*
Oh and hurt!Dean - whee!
The reason why I'm getting into Supernatural? Is the similarity with Numb3rs. And I know, what similarity? Apart from the fact that the main characters are brotherswho are so easily slashable there's nothing even remotely similar with those two shows but see - to me - both of them follow the same pattern in a way, ie they both have pretty basic premises, cop show for the former and fight-against-demons for the other but they have this little Special Ingredient which makes them more interesting - and yes, the brother thing is kinda the key element.
I'm not saying Supernatural is like Numb3rs because, well, Numb3rs is Numb3rs and is a category on its own and everything - who could beat the Eppes!family, anyway? - but though I like the freakyness that is Supernatural, what I'm really looking for when I watch the show is the interaction between the brothers, so that what makes me link the two of them together.
So hey
wistful_fever? I don't know if brother!kink is an interest yet, but it should definitely be lol
Lastly, Lost is downloading atm - albeit real slowly. I'm not surprised, mind you but at this rate, the download will be complete right in time for me to go out tonight. Oh well, I'll have something to watch after I'm back...
PS: What the hell did I talk about on my LJ BBT - Before BitTorrent?
Numb3rs in TWO days omg!

Date: 2005-09-22 11:45 am (UTC)I was wondering about the dad too. Will he ever be found? Will he send clues their way? I'm not sure right now and I think Dean isn't sure either. He obviously knows his dad well after hunting with him for so long, but knowing him so well would also show that if he's disappeared it's for a very serious reason, especially as he's left his journal.
I can see what you mean about the brother bond between the two shows. It's a very powerful thing, even without the cesty overtones.
Supernatural and Numb3rs. Man, I love those shows!

Exactly! I mean, let's forget our perviness for a second but family dynamic is usually the most intense thing. Having buddies in a show is nice and dandy but it can't beat having siblings, imho - then again, when it's well written, buddies can be quite awesom *cough*Jim and Blair*cough*

Btw, I watched the Bones pilote today and I hate the main character. I found her so annoying and she has a really weird way to walk (là, je fais une obsession). I liked "Angel", but that's about it.

Date: 2005-09-22 04:37 pm (UTC)I think the best character of the bunch is Seeley Booth - and er, I think calling him Angel will indeed be better lol - which might not be enough for me in the end. I still have the second episode to download and it's like I'm always delaying it *shrug*
Love your icon, btw ;-)

Date: 2005-09-29 05:08 am (UTC)Long live brother!kink. And I agree with your Numb3rs/Supernatural comparison. They both have a genre theme---cop show, ghoul show---but with family issues that tie it all together and make it MATTER to us.
