I had the biggest, most delicious brunch I've had in a long, long time at Pain Quotidien with [livejournal.com profile] moimoietmoi and [livejournal.com profile] greedy_dancer yesterday. Man, that place is a dream. It's so cozy, so convivial, so cute. We'll definitely have to go back. Soon.

The only 'drawback'? Is how kinda noisy it is. You kinda have to talk a bit louder than usual to be heard and stuff. Which okay isn't such a problem but it can make a slashers' convo a bit tricky: "You so should watch Supernatural. So okay not for the plot but for the brothers! They're so pretty and also? They fuck like bunnies - I said THE BROTHERS ARE SO PRETTY AND THEY FUCK THEIR BRAINS OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS." Though I don't see why it should stop us from going there and having our normal type of conversation, right? ;-)

After the Pain Quotidien, we paid a little visit to Brentano's where we had fun reading all kind of funny books; the best one being the Gay Hiaku book. It was pretty cool lol Oh and [livejournal.com profile] aswanargent? I also bought Speaker for The Dead. On your recommendation I bought Ender's Game two days ago and couldn't put it down, which surprised me as sci-fi lit is usually not my cup of tea. So I thought I shouldn't wait and get myself the second volume :-) I also found more Neil Gaiman the other day - thus buying the last copy they had of Good Omens before SAM could. Sorry again about that, mate - which is of the good. I love me some Brentano's. Well, they didn't have the new release in the Brodie Farrell series but I forgive them.

Anyway, that was another lovely French Posse time :-) Then in the evening I left for work and went back around 3.30 this morning.

And today, the plan is:
  • Go and see Pompoko with tbf!Rissy.

  • Make a detour to Laura Todd and treat myself with some cookies before going to the theater.

  • Come back and watch the new Numb3rs.

  • Follow with the new Veronica Mars.

  • Then start a new book. My not!resolution for 2006 is going nicely, methinks. Still not as much as I hope for, maybe, but I'm getting into it so there is still hope for me, yay!

  • Nice Sunday, don't you think? And nice week-end overall, I'd say too *g*

Well, you certainly seem to be enjoying yourself. Good for you!

THE BROTHERS ARE SO PRETTY AND THEY FUCK THEIR BRAINS OUT ON A REGULAR BASIS.

    Now, there's a conversation I wouldn't mind overhearing. ;)

Your plan for the day seems to be nice, hope you have much fun. *g*

    You wouldn't, would you? lol

I did have much fun though Pompoko wasn't watched today either. There was no seat left when we arrived but the film we picked instead rocked so I was still really happy. We'll try for the third time sometime this week - hopefully it'll work this time lol

Oh, I agree on Ender's Game! When I started reading it, I also couldn't put it down! I haven't found the second book in the series yet, but I've been wanting to go to this store in Brussels for ages, where they have a much larger section of English books. Then again, someone told me that the Ender series just goes downhill after the first book, so I've really been hesitating about actually ordering the rest. Maybe you can let me know when you read it what you thought of it.

Also, Good Omens? Haven't you read it yet? Then do so right now, because EEEEEEE! It's brilliant! My brother in law lost my copy and I'm now waiting for the second edition to be out to buy it again, because I missed it!

Actually, I don't think I'll buy the rest of the series as the summaries didn't interest me that much but the second volume sounded nice so I decided to get that one at least.

Nope, I haven't read it yet as I only bought it yesterday and I didn't have time at all but I can't wait because I've heard so many things about it! Also because I LOVE Neil Gaiman and I really like what I've read of Terry Pratchett :-)

I'm the one who recommended the Ender series to Mouse. I actually thought the series improved as it went along. My favourite book is the third one (Xenocide); the child Gloriously Bright is even more fascinating (to me at least) than the child Ender.

I have to admit, I refuse to read Orson Scott Card any more, since I found out the guy is a raging 'phobe. He wrote the most stupid article *ever* on how gays have the right to get married, because they can marry someone of the opposite sex. Hello? Missing the point! So, yeah, he's top of my DNR list. I won't support someone with that sort of attitude. He can get his royalties elsewhere.
    :steps off soap box:

Oh you're kidding me, he is a 'phobe? Man! How come he wrote a novel where his male character has same sex relationships, then? Or did he mess with those relationship to make his point or something? I've only discovered that author last week as someone recommended his Ender's series - and that's when someone else mentioned Song Master - or something like that, now I'm not sure - which apparently had m/m in it...

I'm quite disappointed, I have to say :-(

He has a website called The Ornery American www.ornery.org where he espouses those views and other similar extreme right wing views eg Anti-Evolution, pro-creationism.

I read his books for a while, but once I had this information drawn to my attention, my conscience wouldn't allow me to support him anymore.

Obviously, you make your own choice and I would never presume to judge you for it. My sister still reads his stuff.

What a charming man he is *rolls eyes* I read some of his columns and yes, this is all quite disappointing, indeed.

I think I'll hurry back to reading Neil Gaiman...

Sounds like a lovely weekend. Oodles of fun for you and the French Posse. Yay!

I've read Ender's Game several times, the first time being, oh about 18 years ago when my oldest, who was then 14, rec'd it to me. *g* I read one of the sequels but I don't even remember the name, so I don't think it measured up to the first.

Good for you and your 2006 not!resolution. I tend to read books in fits and spurts, and do most of my reading in the summer, when I can sit outside on the swing in the backyard and read until dusk. Fewer distractions, dontcha know? *g*

And? Are you ready for this? I watched an entire episode of Numb3rs on Friday night. Yah-uh. Hubby watched it too. We enjoyed it. We did. But, yeah *shrugs* I don't feel the fanfic slashy lurve. Oh well.

I had a lovely weekend, yes *is happy*

The whole series didn't interest me that much so I hadn't planned on getting more than the first two - so I guess I know the feeling...

I'd like to blame Clark for my not reading as many books as I did before but I can't even do that as I'm obviously the one who decides to read a new fic or surf a bit more instead of reading a book... so I think I needed to make that not!resolution - as pathetic as it is to actually make one like that lol Still, if it works? It's fine with me *nods*

Ohh you watched a whole episode? Nice! Well, with the episodes we've gotten recently, I can't see how anyone who don't know the brothers from s1 could see the slashy lurve, so I know what you mean. I love Numb3rs as you know but, recently, I haven't exactly been blown away by what I've seen - and I just have the feeling Friday's episode won't change that fact.

Though I've been spoiled for some future episodes and I know for a fact it'll get better so it's okay :-)

LOL! I can sooo picture the scene! we have that problem here in Wellington with my French buddies - we always assume that no one else around us speaks French, and that therefore we can talk about anything. Well, that's until you see that guy at the next table pretending not to laugh at what you're saying. Very embarassing indeed *nods*

Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you'll at least take a peek at the third volume (Xenocide) sometime. It's my favourite of the series, and I think the young girl Gloriously Bright is even more fascinating and the boy Ender.

I did enjoy what I read, yes. I'm not sure I'll keep reading his stuff though. But still, I can't deny I did enjoy that first volume *nods*
