Jan. 30th, 2006 02:31 pmHappy Birthday to
scrollgirl. Hope you'll have a wonderful day *hugs*
So how was Pompoko you wonder? Or not, but for this entry's sake, let's pretend you do, alright? Well, I have no idea. Why? Cause we didn't see it *facepalm* When we arrived, there was no ticket left. Dude, the French are really into anime and I love that but not when I'm trying and failing to see one myself! *sulks*
Anyway, since there was no way we were going to leave the theater defeated, we picked another film, namely Pride and Prejudice. Now, I hadn't planned on going at all but last week Rissy told me she would like to see it and I said I'd go with her as she's usually the one who comes with me to see films she wasn't that keen on seeing in the first place.
In the end? I was seriously happy I took that decision because awww but that movie is so cute and sweet and romantic and just - *loves* I'm also surprised to say that Keira Knightley was awesome in her role of Elyzabeth, which yeah, did surprise me as I'm not exactly a fan of hers. But what can I say, she completely won me over. Something that might have helped a bit is how she reminded of Winona Ryder in Little Women which is a great compliment for me as a) I love that actress and b) that film is a favourite of mine.
Also, I know that might owe me some defriending but now that I've seen this version, I feel even less inclined to try the Colin Firth one as I positively adored everyone in the new version. And I also decided that I needed to read the novel. So Rissy will lend me her copy sometime this week when we'll meet again for Pompoko - let's hope it'll work this time! Also re: the novel. It's not that I always refused to read it, it's just that I never had the urge to do so... but this time is definitely different!
Unrelated now, I caught a bit of Gilmore Girls last night and there was younger!Jared Padalecki in it and man he looked so babyish! I still much prefer JA - even in his twinkest twink years - but that was fun all the same ;-)
Oh there's Suzanne Vega's Luka on the radio just now and dude that song always makes me feel uncomfortable. I mean, I remember when I was a kid and didn't speak English at all or not enough to be able to understand the lyrics in a song and how much I loved it... imagine my surprise when I realised what kind of story it told. I mean, I still love it, but certainly not for the same reason now. It's chilling. And er okay so that was your Random Mouse Moment of the day *rolls eyes*
Now, off to finally watch VM and Numb3rs as I didn't have time yesterday after all.

Date: 2006-01-30 08:44 pm (UTC)Usually I pay half price cause I'm a student and because some of my friends have cheap tickets and they share :-)
So anyway, all that to say, yeah it sucks not being able to really spend money on movies... but hopefully it'll come out soon on DVD, or maybe someone will make a copy for your? It was worth it :-)
As for Colin Firth, I never found him attractive. I mean, I don't think he's ugly, but I don't find him attractive, and the new Mr Darcy is to die for so yeah, I'm being loyal to that one now *eg*

Date: 2006-01-30 08:47 pm (UTC)From a very shallow point of view, I never found Colin Firth attractive to begin with, so now that I saw the new Darcy, well... Of course, as talent goes, both would be brilliant, but I think I'll stick with the 2005 version :-)

Date: 2006-01-30 08:59 pm (UTC)I saw Pride & Prejudice Saturday night. Loved the entire cast ... except ... Keira Knightley is much too pretty for Elizabeth. When you read the novel, see how she's described.

Date: 2006-01-30 10:17 pm (UTC)The book is fabulous, one of my all time faves along with Jane Eyre. :-)
I think I'll either catch this version on one of my mondays-at-the-movies if there's nothing else I want to see, or I'll be curious only when it comes out on DVD. Thing is, though, I know in my heart that no matter how good it'll be, the BBC version is bound to remain my fave mostly because I saw it first. :-)

Date: 2006-01-30 10:21 pm (UTC)Can't wait to read the book :-)
I'll admit I'm not even interesting in seeing the other now. I mean, I'm sure it's great, I just don't care about seeing another Mr Darcy or Lizzie and co *nods*

@__@
La copine en question parle parfaitement anglais, c'est meme pas le probleme.
