Yes, this entry is about a *new* show...

There's something wonderful about YSI - when it works, sure - because today I've downloaded four episodes of Life on Mars and I'm downloading a fifth one. Each episode downloaded in around two hours! I'm thinking I might cheat on bittorrent more often from now on *nods*
Life on Mars? Rocks like a rocking thing. I mean, I enjoyed the pilot but then I watched 1x02 and I was gone. I love that show, I love the characters: Sam is my favourite, Gene is brilliant in a badass kinda way and I adore Annie, in particular the way she interacts with Sam. I also love when the team is working together. And the Sam-Gene relationship? Is to die for - incidentally, it also screams of slash. Dude, did you see those two together? It feels like Gene is always about toshag snog Sam - the whole relationship is like sponsored by UST is Us. And it gets physical between the two all the time! Though okay, maybe not all the time - for instance there was this moment of utter perplexity when I realised that Gene hadn't roughened Sam at all during the episode... not even a little. Man, that was sad *pout*
And the angst, ohhh it's a thing of beauty too. Sam does emotional really well. I'm practically vibrating each time he has a breakdown re:the bizarro situation he finds himself in. I fucking love it when he screams or cries and just - ohhh my woobie! Also I'm quite intrigued and completely smitten with all those sounds from Out There - the whole hospital thing really is brilliant. The whole thing is really intriguing - can't wait to learn more. Also I said it and I'll say it again, clowns are EVIL! Even when they're just a stuffed toy. And no, it's not a spoiler, promise, just an observation.
Following that second episode which hooked me on the show - good thing I never pretended not to be easy! - I went on a LoM slash hunt and I'm happy to say that we do find LoM slash. Granted, we can't talk about a plethora of fics but they're here. And not just over at
lifein1973 either, cause the fandom actually has an archive. Yes, I'm the newest of newbie, why do you ask? :-)
So, all that to say;
Tai? Your broadband chose the wrong time to be absent because I'd love to discuss the show with you *g*
Now, I'm off to watch The Warren episode - I just have the feeling I'll enjoy that episode a lot *eg* And okay, apart from that one, I'm spoiler free for the rest of the series, so if by any chance someone felt like rambling about Life on Mars with me? Well, keep that mind, thanks!

Date: 2006-03-10 02:30 am (UTC)You know how much that made me wince? Thanks to my über-speedy DSL connection (it's supposed to be DSL 100ß, but it's actually a LOT faster), I need around 25 minutes per episode. Well, not on Bittorrent, though...
*clings to DSL*
Now I just need more HD space and/or a working burner and I'd be in heaven.

Date: 2006-03-10 10:47 am (UTC)Bittorrent sometimes literally crawls, which is why I'm thinking I'll try alternatives as often as is possible *nods*
Oh god, I couldn't live without a burner! The time when it was broken was hell because I was still downloading like crazy but it was getting heavier and heavier on Clark's shoulders... and just the thought of him dying on me and me losing all my series? Was enough to make me cry. I wish the DVD burner worked though cause it would go faster. As it is, I burn my stuff on a CD, then go to the comp that can burn DVD - but not download properly - and I transfer everything from the CD to the DVD, then I give the CD... it's mucho fun! lol But I don't care, as long as it works one way or the other, you know?

Date: 2006-03-10 06:24 am (UTC)I uploaded Peter Wingfield's interview and sent it to crazybutsound. I don't know if I did everything right because I had to use a dvd ripper and it was a little.. tough.
If you want to give it a try, here's the link :
