Dude! What is the loyalty userpics I see mentioned here and there? More importantly, why don't I have them? Is it because out of sheer willpower and a little bit of insanity I've never reached the 100 icons limit? Because if that's the case, it's so not fair! The only reason why I never reached the limit is that I couldn't stand the idea of not having at least five free icon slots... I have icon issue, so sue me *pout* And now, I see people with 132 icon slots and I wanna be one of them! But okay joke aside, if someone knows what the deal is about exactly, care to enlighten me, please? Ta! [ETA: Oh okay I found something.]
Changing the subject, I've spent a couple of hours in the lovely company of
alinewrites yesterday and though it wasn't long enough, it was still better than nothing so I was delighted :-) She also gave me a lot of Methos and Peter Wingfield goodies so when I came back, I happily wallowed in Highlander. Oh boy, I'd forgotten how good seeing Methos in action was *happy sigh* And er, "Timeless" kinda made me cry teary; Methos/Alexa is so beautiful and sad *sob* Also each time he says her name I'm like melting lol And I won't ever get tired of his "Alexa... see, even her name is beautiful" line. It's also amusing to see how many of his lines I remembered by heart, I just love that character way too much *g*
Incidentally I pimped Life on Mars to her and turns out it was a success, go me!
I also watched an episode of Life on Mars before going to sleep - well, I fell asleep in front of it. Not because it's boring, of course not, but because it was awfully late and sometimes I just put my favourite shows on so that they lull me to sleep... guarantees good dreams afterwards :-)
And so it reminded me that I needed to post my Gene rambling -
What I love so much with Gene is that the man has layers. It sometimes makes me smile when someone says this but there are times when it's just the only way to describe a character. And that's how Gene is: he's a badass and a jerk most of the times, he has no qualms about getting rough with suspects and witnesses alike... and his own team isn't safe from the treatment. Poor Sam gets beaten up quite on a regular basis. He's loud, he's tactless. Ethic isn't exactly his favourite word either, he believes the ends justify the means. He's kinda scary when you think of it and yet...
And yet, the man is fiercely loyal to his team: in the June episode, I loved the moment when he makes Sam kneel on the concrete and orders him to clean the blood because June works for him and she's one of them and he wants to be able to look her in the eyes and tell her someone cleaned up all the blood. And I mean, I loved that scene so fucking much! Not just because of the kneeling thing, btw, but because Gene is so caring at this moment. Okay, certainly not towards Sam but towards June. The girl isn't even a police officer, she's a caretaker - pretty much the kind of job I'd have thought was invisible to Gene, you know? And yet he's furious and he's hurting cause someone working 'for him' has been hurt... and of course the fact that he takes it on Sam was just the icing on the cake *is mean*
Or you have the Warren episode when Gene has a go at Warren because the guy crossed the line. Again, you could have thought Gene would have just cheered at what Warren had done to Sam, but no, he wasn't laughing. Or he was, when he was in Sam's face but behind his back, Gene was taking care of the problem. Or trying to at least.
Then there's the Flasher episode when he takes the blame after Ray screwed up and caused Billy's death. He takes responsibility because he's the one who put Ray in charge and all and, seriously, that's a great thing to do, isn't it? He could have put the blame on Ray - washing his hands of the whole thing in the process.
And of course there's the whole Gene-Sam relationship. Gene seems quite hard on him - when he thinks Sam screwed up, he tells him, when he's annoyed with him, he certainly shows him and when he feels like punching him, well, he does it too. But at the same time, he's always there... and he listens to Sam. He's not above putting Sam in uncomfortable situations, but when it comes down to it, he listens to what The Pain In The Arse Called Sam has to say. Admittedly, Sam, for all stubborn that he is, does listen to Gene as well - I suppose they both rub off on each other, which is why they make such a good team. An explosive team at times, but a very good one :-)
Gene is tactless and obnoxious and yet in the Warren episode when Sam is so upset after they found the body of the young woman in the canal, Gene stays with him instead of sending him home. And then there's episode 8 which has some of my favourite Gene-Sam moments in the whole series - which is saying something - where it's clear Gene is worried about Sam and he keeps trying to reach out to him, to be an anchor to him in a way, and - well, I could ramble about that ep for hours, but let's just say I love Gene so much in that episode because it feels like everything I enjoy in his character and the way he interacts with Sam throughout the series are summed up right here and then.
To make a long story short: the man is like a world of contradictions... which makes him a very interesting and rich character. Which in turn explains why I love him so much, he rocks my world, in a way :-)
Oh and since I'm rambling about tv, I watched Hustle and heee I love my shiny show so much! It was as if it'd never left!
I love how we go back to business right from the very first minutes of the episode. No off moments for me, it's Hustle in all its glory :-)
Man, those guys are so glamour and sexy! Mickey and Stacie's arrival at the Mobo Music awards? *dies*
They're priceless as rappers *loves* And they crack me up too lol
Stacie pretending to be a lesbian? Did good things to me *licks lips*
I loved it when Mickey paid a compliment to Danny. It makes for a nice change from the earlier episodes *nods*
Oh and I adored that it was Danny who had the bad feeling about the call he received. He's gone a long way from those earlier episodes too! And I loved that the others trusted him, that Mickey trusted his instincts.
Thank you Hustle for brightening my week. Now that SPN and Numb3rs are both absent - need to check when they're back - it's good to know you'll be there for me and my downloads! You and Prison Break, that is *bounces*

I shouldn't whine about the icons, since I wasn't able to fill 100 slots, but maaan! 132 sounds so good... (And you're not alone, the reason I kept a couple of slots free is because, well, I'd panic if all were full. :D)

Date: 2006-03-15 06:45 pm (UTC)And I guess they're bringing SPN back, ie a rerun tomorrow to have people get used to the new time slot? Cause I'm sure I heard about the 16 somewhere... I'll regret the Tuesday time slot, believe you me. Now the squeeing seems to be stuck at the end of the week instead of being stretched all over it...
The whole loyalty icon thing is weird: they talk about reward regarding the paid account history but we're not getting any new icons so far... so I guess they're talking about the next purchase? Or do we just have to wait for them to work it out? I'm a bit confused, I have to admit *g*
