Numb3rs 2x20 - "Guns and Roses"

My my, there're many birthdays this month it seems: Happy Birthday
ninkasa, a good and fun day to you!
Yesterday was the last day of spring break - around 5.00 pm it also felt as if it was the end of spring, period. I was considering building my own ark, I swear. Today is still grey but I don't even mind because a) it's not cold and b) there's this wonderful smell outside - this, I don't know, earthly smell? The one we sometimes get after a good rain.
The following doesn't have anything to do with the above but I'm thinking I might buy The Sentinel DVD sooner than planned, after all. I mean, I've been coveting the box set since the day it was announced of course but I thought I would wait a little before caving in. Except I'm seeing all those posts about people on my flist receiving their DVDs, watching their DVDs and squeeing about how incredibly good Jim and Blair look on their DVDs and omg! *has envy* Still, I'm trying to convince myself to wait for after my birthday. But dude, it's torture!
On the subject of tv show. Numb3rs 2x20 was watched and it was a good Don episode. The man angsts so beautifully. It's nothing new, mind, but it still was wonderful to see.
Also, it makes me smile because apparently work is a great place to find girlfriends: Terry,Coop, Kim, Nikki and now Robin. Though if Don used the kind of lame chat up lines he used on Robin, it's a wonder he went out with so many women: 'clearly it's where we find all the pretty girls'? Don, I'm so disappointed! It's a good thing you're so hot, I guess, you could say the lamest things and women would still want to snog you.
Anyway.
I loved the conversations Don had with Alan. Daddy!Eppes always knows what to say, he's a wonder that man. And I love that he insists on some of his points because he knows Don is stubborn and that he'll need to hear certain things several times before he can - maybe - accept them.
My favourite convo between the two was the one about suicide. When Alan admits that if it had come to that, he would have understood mommy!Eppes' decision and, you know, this is such an incredible proof of love. I know some people don't believe in euthanasia and I do respect their views; but I don't agree. I hope I won't EVER have to face that kind of situation but I do believe in it. And to hear that Alan would have let Margaret go like that, to save her from a life of pain, which in fact, isn't a real life, well it made me respect and love him even more - and dude, that's saying something!
So anyway that was my favourite conversation between Don and Alan because it was a very personal talk and it dealt with delicate and painful subjects and I thought it'd been dealt with wonderfully.
The second favourite would be Alan pushing Don to give love and relationship a chance. And I loved his reasoning - when you're right, you're right, daddy!Eppes!
I quite enjoyed Charlie worrying about Don, and him running a formula against his life cracked me up because this is SO Charlie! The results were also awesome, Don would be okay because of his strong attachments to his family. Aww *melts*
Something I found awfully sweet too is how Charlie deduces that Don won't join them because of the pizza's choice. That's absolutely brilliant!
Onto the Random Stuff:
Larry and Charlie continue to be über cute - and I love how all those people in Numb3rs use space - they're always sitting on tables, kneeling on the floor, sitting on the floor, lying on the floor. They're all too cute.
Okay, when Charlie explains that he thinks someone else was in the room with Nikki and it's supposed to be that Big Reveal? Sounded lame to me. I mean I'd found out what was missing, ie that the reason why they couldn't get the same result on their monitor was because there was an echo missing - for lack of a better word - ie that someone was likely to have been in the room and that the same someone was responsible for altering the echo, and if I could understand that, then Larry and/or Charlie should have too. And not only that but they should have tried to see whether the theory was right or not then. Charlie explaining his theory afterwards just seemed odd.
I also watched the new episode of Doctor Who and I'm SO enjoying that new series! I enjoyed the second episode even more than the first one - so much fun! And some wonderful Torchwood shout out. I so can't wait for that one!
Oh and did you see the trailer for next week's episode? Giles! Giles in DW. And K9 returns, yay! I knew he would but I didn't think it would be so soon.

Yes, yes, yes! Just when I think I couldn't love the man any more he goes and says something like this and the love? It is overwhelming. *loves*

Date: 2006-04-24 06:57 pm (UTC)I *finally* finished it last week, and wanted to say thanks for the rec. I was a little sad at the ending, since I would have begged to see more about Jessex and Kirith Kirin's love, but at least no one died. And the magic! It was so meticulously written that I could imagine the third and fourth levels and Jessex went through them.
Overall, a wonderful read. Thank you!

Date: 2006-04-24 07:06 pm (UTC)And I'm so glad you not only read the novel but loved it too.
That story really made a big impression on me, it was - well magical, no pun intended ;-) I'm usually not a big fan of that kind of stories but being a huge Jim Grimsley fan, I couldn't not read one of his books and I'm so thrilled I didn't let Kirith Kin pass because it was wonderful - and the way he described the magic was beautiful and incredibly powerful *nods*
Anyway lol I'm delighted you loved the novel *g*

Date: 2006-04-24 09:03 pm (UTC)I actually thought Don's line was cute. I'd have done him. *g* But I thought skipping drinks and dinner and moving right to making out in the car in the parking lot was kinda, heh, fast. *g*
Charlie lying on the floor killed me! So cute. And throwing the chalk at Larry, lol!
So, great ep, despite Don kissing Robin instead of Charlie. *eg*

Date: 2006-04-25 09:59 am (UTC)How incredibly cool was the Pizza deduction? And yeah, he had his sad little face coupled with his sad little voice... someone should write a tag for that ep *looks innocently in your direction*
I just have the feeling that if Don had been average looking or not even cute at all, his line wouldn't have won him any points lol But hey, it's Don. Don who does seem to make out like a teenage in his car, yeah.

Date: 2006-04-24 10:10 pm (UTC)Hee, SPN just came on the tv. Sure, I saw it Sunday but still.... sorry, went off on a tangent there, but Dean!
Right, Dr Who is love! And K9! Also, I was lusting over David Tennant's freckles. I'm so sad.

Hee K9! I loved Ten's squeal of delight when he saw it *g*
